BWI Standard View question

Staying at the BWI April 18th and 19th. We are booked for a standard view room. I would like a view over the boardwalk with the hopes in seeing the fireworks as well. I know they cannot provide requests all the time. My question is do I wait and request that type of room when I arrive at check in or should I call and ask if I could request something like that beforehand? I am so hpoing I get a nice view- I am paying a lot to stay there just those two nights and I will be so sad if I pay a ton of money and look at a parking lot. Those that have stayed there what floor or room has such a view? Thanks to all those that respond. I appreciate it.

The BWI is a lovely choice. When we stayed there a few years ago we paid for a Water View Room. This balcony was close to Flying Fish overlooking the boardwalk. I do not believe SV is a Waterview a/k/a Boardwalk View unless you are staying CL. I believe SV gives you a view of the gardens which are still very beautiful. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. I don't remember what floor we were on, maybe 4th. Enjoy your stay!:goodvibes

Standard view faces either the front driveway or the inner courtyard. I think some of the inner courtyard rooms have a view of the Eifel Tower in France. Not sure if you can see fireworks.

If it's a very slow time you may get lucky, otherwise I'd upgrade the room to a better view if you really want it.

If you want a Boardwalk view you should upgrade your reservation to that view. If it's important to you don't depend on a free upgrade. They are seldom offered at BW. Some of the standard views are nice.

We are going during peak time- April 12-20th with our last two nights at BWI. Should I ask to look at the courtyard then? Call and ask or wait until check in. Unfortunately, upgrading to a waterview is way out of our price range. We had to penny pinch to splurge for these two nights.

You can call and have the request added to your reservation. If you want a chance to see some fireworks, you might be able to request courtyard view facing Epcot. Then when you check it, mention the request to the CM again (before they tell you which room you get and print the cards.) We stayed there after our wedding and had a room on the 4th floor facing Epcot, so we could see the Eiffel tower and the higher fireworks of Illuminations. We didn't make any requests because, honestly, I was hoping for some pixie dust because we were checking in right after our wedding in full wedding attire. ;) We were still 'standard view' but the view was great.

I would call and add the requests as rooms are assigned ahead of time. Something like courtyard view or facing Epcot. You can see some of the higher fireworks at Epcot from some of those rooms. Unfortunately there is never a guarantee that you will get your request. There are some resort maps floating around somewhere. If you take a look at those you can be somewhat informed as to where you want to be.
