No Buy ~ January 2013 edition

Awesome job Carrie!!!
Hopefully you tucked the first $3 away for the first two weeks of your 52 week savings plan and did something nice with the extra!!!

No spending today we are staying home!! No spending tomorrow as we will also be at home... next week should be pretty much a no spend week because school resumes!!!

Thanks! I am going to keep all the money I make selling things saved for spending money for spring break. I'm going to do the 52 weeks out of the regular budget. I think for the first couple of months I will just deposit a months worth at once though since the amounts are smaller.

Good idea on the selling = spring break money!!!

We are staying home this spring break since DD is off in college (and of course her break is a month before the boys' break).. the boys were asked and they didn't want to go anywhere if DD couldn't go with us...

Didn't do too well at the grocery store, but gas was under budget so it is almost a wash.

I did order 2 albums and 2 sets of side loading sleeves from CM, but I had $50 in club credits and they are on sale so I only spent $34 for them including tax and shipping. Not too bad as it would usually be over $100. Shhh don't tell DH!

We did a Costco run last night. First time since Sept. We had to renew our membership $55. Then $202 on stuff. Batteries- all those new presents, water bottles, tp, paper towels, juice boxes, cheeses, can chicken, pretzels and spices.

I did not buy anyone clothes! I almost always buy ds a few outfits but nothing suited my fancy. Woohoo!

Dbf is headed to get papers so I can get back to coupons.

Ohh and we made it a week without eating out!

1/1 - $0
1/2 -$29- groceries
1/3 - $0
1/4 -$88.89 at Walmart ($26.85 was a bday gift for a party next weekend, $$18.48 was food, rest household including a box for all of DS's new trucks) $78.90 at Safeway ($59.80 was cashed in raincheck for 20lbs hamburger)
1/5 - $0
1/6 - $257-costco
1/7 -

Rachal, congrats on not eating out last week! It is just so tempting to order something on those busy days!

Well, we haven't eaten out much since DD has been home... she wants home-cooked meals..

We were out getting DS16 basketball shoes (his purchase, we only paid for tax)... so we treated the family out to dinner...

Now back on the wagon...

Cassey, thanks! almost caved last night. I've almost used up my stash of CM albums, pages and covers, I've moved over to post bound for the most part. I do love their Disney ones but I missed the last one so I'm not sure what I am going to do.

Nan, isnt that great? I am hoping to make it through next week too, kids start school tomorrow so we will see how it goes.

I have to go to the store again tonight.... ugh! but Target had some great coupons that stack with some other great coupons (diapers, baby stuff, first aid stuff that doesn't hurt to stock up on) and DBF got coupons for the soup that's on sale, that he takes for lunch so he doesn't hit subway every day.

Week 2: Goal- Groceries-$75, Gas-$40, Eating Out(Sun lunch)-$25, Anything Else- $30- *Possible car maintenance to keep transmission in good shape*
1/6- groceries- $129(we did a lot of stocking up on cleaning supplies and such since there were great gas sales going on- we have 60 cents per gallon from today's trip alone), eating out- $25

1/11- eating out

Groceries were higher than I expected but all the meat was but 1 get 1 free and all the cleaning products had 5-20 cents bonus in gas for each item/set of items. Eating out was exactly 25 as I expected.

Well, the only $ that I spent today was on admission to my son's basketball game. I'm not sure that should count because that is going to happen every Sunday, and we have to be there!

Tomorrow I have to stock up on some dishwasher detergent and laundry detergent, so I know I'll be spending that, but that is all I have planned to buy tomorrow

Well, I made the 1st week with only 1 dinner out. I did make a Walmart grocery run last night which was $90 for 2 weeks worth of fill ins for dinners out of the cupboard/freezer & a few household needs. Today would have been SO easy to eat out, but I made dinner here. Have to celebrate the small victories!

I remember those fees!!! Had to pay them for their travel basketball games!!! Did that for many, many years.. with 4 boys... At least when they start HS you only have to pay for the away games if you buy the season pass for the home games that gets you into everything (except tournaments!)..

Hope DS did well today...

I'm home tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday... so they will be no buy days... except for the milk run tomorrow... (should be about 12.00)...

Small victories are the best!!! :)

Rachal, unfortunately all the kiddos albums are the same color which is why I keep buying the CM ones. CM isn't selling Disney products anymore so I am not sure what I will do for the next one. I am a creature of habit and the CM albums are so easy to load pages into... I tried post bound and ended up cursing up a storm...

Congrats to everyone on their accomplishments this past week and good luck for next week!

My girls are all color coded purple, pink, red. Ds has blue. And they all have the white baby album. I started the family album in the burgandy color they had but they discontinued it long time ago so I had to find something else. :(

I did find that the strap hinge pages sold at j's fit in the old cm books, which I have a bunch of and I can use a coupon. :) so that's what I've been using the last few years to finish out those albums.

It's a shame cause I never got the chance to grab that black Disney one and I only have one red mickey album left. Better figure something out.

I been using the 3 ring binders - Richard has killed most of my post albums - he look thur them almost daily (caught him reaching his hand in & feeling the paper piecing) so heavy duty is what I have to have

Cassey, there's a woman who comes to the April crop in NH that does imprinting. I'll see if I can find her info for you :)

I had $.40 off a gallon, so gas was "only" $34.14 instead of $38.50. So, some savings. Forgot I'm going to meet Holly for her technique club class tomorrow, I'll spend at least $10, probably $20 (class is free if you spend $20 on product, $10 if you don't). Not sure if we're going to meet for dinner before...

Blew the budget this weekend. $91.00 for a power steering pump for the car - ours died on Saturday. $88 for groceries and $15 to send DS to the movies - I needed to get him outta my hair for a few hours.

Not as terrible as it could have been, since DH can install the new pump. But definitely not a planned expense.
