Crickey and that doesn't include food or the $80 for the taxi?? Is it worth it for 1 down day from WDW my visa card is in need of a defibulator!! :rotfl2: any advice on discounts or just don't go...... Sorry Harry Potter.

Yup, just like a one day ticket to the world for 3 adults is $285 after tax. For our family who loves both WDW and universal we switch off which one we go to each vacation, then buy the longer tickets that are so much less per day. I wouldn't pay the one day ticket price for either universal or WDW.

I said the same thing when I looked at Disney's ticket prices.. nearly double what I paid for 3 days worth of US/IOA, for only 2 days at WDW.

Single day park tickets are RARELY discounted..Price one day at Disney and it is not any cheaper..I think Universal is totally worth it, and you won't know unless you try

The other posters have pretty much nailed it....one day tickets are not discounted at Universal or Disney.

i always do split stays between the motherland and the darkside.
get my fix easily that way.

if i was only at the darkside for a shorter visit, i don't think i could bear to leave for a disney day.

the one day park hopper ticket for disney would set me back $132.06 !!!
plus taxi and food...

Exactly.

During our last Orlando trip, we spent our first night at Boardwalk using DVC points, then we moved over to Universal. Since we were SO close, we seriously considered a one day ticket for Epcot...but it was just so expensive. We swam then headed over to Universal.

That said, I think a one-day ticket to Universal is worth it. It's so much fun there! And Wizarding World is pretty amazing.

Put me in the 'not worth it' camp. Don't get me wrong, the whole family is nuts for both WDW and USO. But money is an issue for us (not like the guy on the boards looking to fly down, do a day and fly back just because it is his birthday (is there a jealous smiley?).

We haven't done a split stay since before WWoHP. We now alternate trips visiting each every other year. The total trip expense on a per day basis is how I measure the value.

Totally worth it. We spent a day at IOA this summer on our way to the gulf beaches. We were there at opening and left when the park closed. I love FJ and WWoHP.

Just an idea....have you ever looked into a Universal AP? No guarantees that it will stay the same in the future, but the renewal on our AP was about the same cost as a 4? 5? day ticket. So you could buy the AP, keep renewing it, and in that way get Universal each year, and WDW every other.

Of course, that assumes you love it as much as we do. :)

And this year, thank you DVC, we'll have WDW APs at the same time. :faint:

the preferred renewal set me back about $170 last year.

hopefully it won't go up this year.

i know the buy 2 days, 3rd day free is a great deal.

if the ap is needed for a room discount, you need to figure the total costs to see if it is to your advantage financially to come out ahead.

Thanks for the thought. However, I am now lost.:scratchin
I like to look at per day cost for a week long vacation (five in family).
$1000 house rental. Five 7-day tix at $1500. That is $72 pp per day.
The OP sees that a one-day visit to the dark side is $88 more pp. That can break some of us.
Where do the AP's fit into that plan? If we did 5-day tix to WDW for $1425 and $850 for AP to USO my total ticket cost is huge.
Sorry I am confused. We do love it as much as you, and I wish our emotions could pay the bills.:goodvibes

when you post the 7 day tickets, are you talking about the motherland tickets?
universal doesn't sell the 7 day passes anymore.

once you get to needing a 5 day pass, it is cheaper to buy the power pass but it does have some black out dates, and not valid for discounts.

you could have one adult buy the preferred pass at about $250 and the other 4 buy the power pass.
only one in your group would need the preferred pass for the discounts off of food, merch, room.

Yes, 7-day at WDW for the 5 of us. Obviously cost per day drops the longer the stay. That is why we split trips between WDW and USO.

Thanks for the tips for a long stay on the dark side. :worship:

if you haven't bought the motherland tickets yet, sign up for the Mousesavers site.

on the 15th of each month the mousesavers newsletter has the UT link for discounted park tickets.

i use this for my motherland park tickets all the time.

you will come out ahead by buying through that MS link than going thru the disney website for tickets or the regular UT site.

i can't imagine going to Orlando and not staying at both resorts.
i like the motherland and the darkside resorts and parks.

i know you will have a fun vacation at the motherland!!
