just heard back from chef Brian--- they can't do my cake. I think I am going to re word---to any blueprint design and add a rock-n-roll theme.

I just got a reply from Chef Brian and was quoted $50 for a two tiered mini cake. I was planning on recieving it for a Breakfast at Crystal Palace....but I'm going to wait to hear for a call back from Pat about getting a quote for the same cake but at 'Ohana for a late breakfast.

Chef Brian told me that my idea could be done, but needs to be simplified for the mini cake. Here's the pic I sent him that I found online:

One more question before I call. Do you have to get the mousse filling or can it just be all cake?

I want a mini tier cake with white fondant and yellow roses and was thinking about the marble cake. Any opinions?

I'd at least get buttercream filling, since I don't really like their mousse filling either. Seems like it would be possible to go filling-free, but only the bakery can tell you for sure. :thumbsup2

why couldn't they do it? :(
He said that he did not have a blueprint of rockin roller coaster, but could just do a rockin roller coaster themed cake.

I replied, could we do any blue print design and add a rockin roller coaster guitar to the top.

He replied he could do only one theme. I would have to choose. Not sure what to do. I want disney incorporated some way in the cake, but looks like that won't happen.

Don't want to tick him off by asking if any disney could be incorporated.

Finally got my pics up and going:

10in Chocolate cake with dark chocolate filling
Ordered from Yatch Club Bakery
Delivered to Coral Reef
Asked for Coral reef/scuba diving theme (gave them total creative control of cake)
Quoted $125.00 and invoiced for $115.00

Super moist, awesome cake. Could not have been happier.

Hi folks, oddly enough; my cake predicament is the most troublesome of my 10 day WDW trip from CA and I need advice.

January 19th 7PM dinner reservations at Rainforest in Animal Kingdom for four adults and two children (5 and 8 year old boys). It's the 8 year old's birthday and he picked the restaurant. The 19th is mid stay for our trip (13th-23rd).

Since they don't do cakes and we're coming from CA, I need to bring it to Rainforest myself. We plan to spend the day at Animal Kingdom that day to simplify things. I thought I would bring the cake there in the morning and meet the rest of my family in the park.

My question is, where do I order the cake from? He wants a Disney themed cake but I think the standard Mickey cake might be off putting for them (the filling) not to mention too large (wasted).

Budget is not a concern (what's another couple hundred dollars to the cost of the trip :earseek: ). We're staying at the Art of Animation in Cars if that matters but I don't mind going to pick it up anywhere on property since I'm making a special trip anyway.

Is the Bakery my best bet? Help oh cake gurus?

p.s. I SO can't wait to be back in the World. :earsboy:

How long does it normally take to get a call back regarding a cake order? I am trying to order for January 15th at the GF if that makes a difference. Thanks!

I would not bring the cake into the park in the morning for a 7pm dinner. Even the all-buttercream ones really need to be kept chilled or else they start to slump. And if it's hot, the fondant will sweat all over the place.

If it were me, I'd work with a local bakery like It's Tasty Too, Anna Cakes, or Sprinkles to have them deliver the cake to me at dinner. I know It's Tasty Too does this quite frequently and gets high marks from DIS brides who've used them. You will also get a LOT more bang for your buck.

The person you need to speak to may be on vacation. They only really need 2 or 3 days' notice; I'd call back over the weekend if you still haven't heard.

Ordered with It's Tasty Too. A Lego brick (the kids are crazy for Legos and are just as excited for the Lego store as the parks).

Nice people! Thank you for the recommendation lurkyloo, all handled and very affordable! :goodvibes

Do they deliver to the resorts? Where all on property can they deliver to?

They said they could deliver to the hotel but since I was going to a restaurant that didn't require park admission, they could do it there.

This thread was such a help, just calling the cake line cold was zero help for me since neither my hotel nor my restaurant were available via the prompt and the dining reservation folks just referred me to that number and couldn't help any further. No human option is available.

Calling the Rainforest was the same story and cold calling googled cake makers in the area seemed a bit risky. Thank you all! :)

I'm so glad this is working out for you, and I can't wait to see the cake! :thumbsup2

UGH- so sad they can't do this. I was really thinking this would be such a great idea. :(

If I am ordering a custom cake but only do buttercream, not fondant, what terminology do I use to make sure I dont get a frozen cake? I want a fresh baked cake. Thanks!

Supposedly none of their cakes are frozen, but I was once told the cake we ordered at the restaurant podium had to be defrosted...

Basically, any order you put in for a "custom" cake will be made fresh for you, no matter how simple or elaborate. Actually, I suspect the really elaborate fondant ones have less chance of being fresh because they could take a couple days to make.

Does anyone know if I can get screen print on a cake a nine dragons? We are going there for DD's Birthday. She is from China and loves Mulan. She choose this location and I wanted to get her a cake with Mulan on it for her birthday.
Thanks
Heidi

Hello, fellow DIS-ers! :wave2:

I have looked through quite a few pages of this thread and have tried the search function, but haven't been able to find what I'm looking for, so I'm hoping you could help me.

My sister, sister-in-law and best friend and I are celebrating my sister's 50th birthday by running/walking the Disney Princess Half Marathon next month. We're planning to have a celebratory dinner after the race that night and I'd like to surprise my sister with a special birthday cake. :cake: I just have no idea how I want it to look. Does anyone have any pictures of fun 50th cakes (no "over the hill" type cakes), or cakes with a running theme?

Thanks for any help you could give me! :worship:

Can anyone help me? I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed looking through all of these threads. I'm wanting to order a mini cake for DS for his Bday. We will be at Chef Mickey's the night I'm hoping to get it, so it would be from the Contemporary. I don't want a bigger cake because we won't have any way to store it and are heading back to MK, but price isn't a huge concern. I just want a nice experience for him.

His favorite Disney movie is Nemo for sure, but he would be happy with a cake with any type of over the top Disney theme since this is his first trip ;)

So...how do I go about ordering this? I tried googling mini cakes (Disney) and there really didn't seem to be that many. From what I read on this thread it seems that people tend to be somewhat disappointed when they aren't specific enough with requests? So it might not be best to sort of leave it up to the chef? I know I shouldn't order until a few weeks ahead of time, but I'm wondering how I should order it? Thanks for any feedback!!!! Until then I'll keep looking through these threads....

Can I get a mini wedding cake with from Contemporary delivered to BOG? I saw a few pages back that someone had a cake delivered at the Crystal Palace.
