7 months vs 15 months

Would you rather take a 7 month old or a 15 month old to disney? DH and I were planning on taking the girls (3) (3 months) to Disney in Dec but I don't know if I can wait that long. DD 2 will be 7 months if we go in April instead. I think it would b easier to go before she is walking, but DH thinks it will be more fun when she is older lol.
We have taken DD 1 three times (10 months, 2 and 2 1/2). She was easy at 10 months and it was right before she started walking. We never took her at one though so I don't know what it would be like.

We went last year when our daughters were 7 months and 3 1/2. We had a great time and in some ways it was the perfect time to go. Our 7 month old was entertained by all the visual stimulation even if she didn't know what was going on. Meal times were easy cause she was still content to sit in a highchair and not trying to get out and run around. She was also content to sit in the stroller and still young enough to just fall asleep there when she needed to.

I'm with you in that I would want to take her at 7 months as well, and for much the same reason, not walking yet. Perfectly content to be confined to a stroller, carrier, sling, etc.

On our first trip, my ds was 8 months and quite happy with his view from the stroller

I definitely think both would be fun!! We took DD1 to Disneyland at 14 months and DD2 to WDW at 10 months. Both were great visits, and pretty similar to each other. Both times our girls were often in the Ergo, napped there or in the stroller, and were happy watching parades, shows, etc.

7 months might be a little harder, though... I guess it would depend on the kid, but at that age, mine were still generally on baby food and you'd have to bring that with you. (I loved that at 10 & 14, ours could just share whatever we ate, but I'm just lazy like that and don't like to have to bring extra stuff ) But the 15mo might not want to take time away from the fun for a diaper change or nap, so really both have "negatives," but of course waaaaay more positives and you'll have fun either way. Sorry that's not really helpful!

I'd rather take her when she's younger. I thought my DD was WAY easier before she was talking or walking. She would have been a beat down at 15 mo's

I think taking her at 7 months old will be easier. Our little one was 4 months old for our last trip and he was so easy....perfectly fine in the carrier the whole time. We're planning either disneyworld or a disney cruise for April and he'll be 17 months at the time, so I'm a little nervous about that, lol. He's still good in the carrier but he runs all over now! Good luck deciding!

I'm a huge fan of watching cute little kids playing in fountains, so we waited an agonizing 14 months before going to disney with our son. I wanted to wait until he could walk so he could play in the fountains. We had a great trip, but he really didn't like the fountains too much. So maybe it wasn't worth waiting for. Traveling with non-walkers is very easy, so I would probably vote for 7 months.

7 Months! We took our 2nd at 9 months and 19 months and 19 months was a nightmare. Didn't want to be held while we waited in line so we were constantly dealing with a tantruming toddler who didn't understand why we wouldn't let her run away from us in the queues. Didn't want to ride in the stroller, so huge fits every single time we put her in for 6 days. Harder to get to nap, basically harder all around.

7 months definitely!

I took my DD at 8 months. She was crawling and cruising, but not too opinionated about sitting in the stroller or being carried. She walked early and would not have been happy sitting in her stroller at 15 months.

We didn't go to Disney last summer. I wasn't taking a young toddler and dealing with waiting on lines.

We took dd at 8 months and it was so easy. She was not even crawling yet, so she was happy and content in her stroller. I think 15 months is one of the hardest ages and I would not choose to take that age to Disney, but that is just my opinion.

I forgot about baby food, but I am breastfeeding so I probably wouldn't have to bring bottles. I think I might have to convince DH to go in April. I'm afraid she wouldn't want to wait in lines, and sit in the stroller. Can you keep a baby in a beco or ergo on the rides?
DD1 actually understood why we were waiting in lines when she was 2, and I think it would have been hard if she was 1. Dec 2014 might be good when DD2 is 2.

I agree 7 months will be easier. We took DD at 9 months, 21 months, and 28 months. 9 months was the easiest by far. Yes, we had to deal with bottles and baby food, but she wasn't walking and didn't try to run off. She didn't complain about sitting in the stroller, and had no opinion on what attractions we did. At 21 months, she wanted to walk rather than sit in the stroller and wanted to do every attraction again. She also didn't sit through meals as well as she did at 9 months.

Of course, she will get Disney more at 13 months, meaning she will engage in the trip a little more rather than just watch the sites and sounds. You will have a fun trip either way.

I enjoyed taking my children when they were both 6 months and 14 months. I found it a little more challenging at 6 months just because my son couldn't sit very well yet and I was still breastfeeding. My children were very easy going around 14 months. However, around 18 months through age 2, I found it a lot more difficult to take them.

The years between 1-3 are the least favorite ages to take my kids to WDW, especially 1-2. They don't really know the characters yet. There's fun to be had, but they're kind of just along for the ride, kwim? It's much easier to handle them in that capacity when they're immobile.

MOO. Go this April. I think you'll enjoy it more.

ETA: I have three kids and I've taken them during the toddler years at 11M, 12M, 15M, 18M, and 23M. I can't believe I didn't learn from my mistake, lol. After reading the responses, it seems others feel similar. I would definitely try to convince DH to go this April, or wait until the youngest is 2.5+. Really, toddlerhood is a tough age for WDW. Just being honest here. I think you might find it really frustrating.

Yep, most of them at least! I feel like we were maybe asked once or twice to take one of the DDs out for their first trip? Don't remember for sure, but still super easy for us.

7 months! Took DD at almost 10 and just over 16. You don't know for sure that she'll be walking at 15 months and she may not be accomplished at it (our DD started at 14 months and we wouldn't have considered going if she wasn't walking). At 10 months, she was crawling all the time and it was difficult finding a place to let her out. That being said, it was great being able to keep her in a front pack while on the rides -- she wouldn't let us do that at 16 months! At 10 months, we could go at our pace and let her nap in the stroller (she was great about that; still is); at 16 months, it was all about her. At 10 months, her food was bottles and a few baby food jars with a bit off our plate. At 16 months, she was all solids and were navigating a newly developed peanut allergy. We had fun at both ages though, so go with whatever works! We're taking her little brother in a few weeks and they'll be 32 and 4 1/2 months respectively. I'm more worried about her and than the baby!

I would say 7 months. Ds11 had his first trip at 6 months. It was so easy. He was content to chill in the stroller and watch every thing going on around him. Dd9 went for her first birthday. Big difference. She started walking 2 weeks before we went and she wanted out - all the time. The smaller baby was also easier to carry in the lines then the heavier skirmy toddler. It was easier come mealtimes though because dd was on table food and cups and ds had bottles, formula, and baby food.

I would prefer 7 months because of the lack of mobility, but we will be taking our youngest when she is about 17 months. However, we'll be driving across country two months after she's born to go to Disneyland (our options were taking a two month old or waiting another year and a 30 hour road trip with a one year old is my equivalent to a nightmare!).
