DD only with us first few days

New to the forum, but I've gotten lots of good advice from reading other peoples posts...

My DD17 will only be with us for the first few days of our trip in March. We got a room/ticket (POR 4 night/5days tickets) package for the rest of us with the new promotion that came out today. We didn't put her on the reservation since she only needs tickets for 2 days. We do not have the DP and will not exceed room capacity. Should we just add her to the room when we arrive or before that? Will they charge a fee to change the reservation? I saw something about a $50 fee for changes.

Also, what will be the easiest/fastest way to purchase her tickets?

Thanks

You won't be able to add her before you arrive without paying for her tickets for days she won't be there. You can add her to the reservation at check-in. And since she's 17, you'll avoid the extra adult charge! Also since you'll be adding her upon arrival, no change fee.

Since you're not going until March, check out Undercover Tourist for her tickets. They are usually a couple $$ cheaper and you will get them before you arrive.

Thanks!
I was looking at UT website. She only needs tickets for 2 days. Do they have them for that short a time period?

I'm a bit nervous about this. Everything I read on the Disney website seems to indicate that everyone in the room has to be on the same package. Has anyone done this? I'm concerned that we'll have to buy her a 5 day ticket when she will only use 2 days.

Thanks.

My parents booked a package for 3 weeks, and I joined them mid-trip for a week. They added me to their reservation at check-in, and when I arrived I bought my own 7-day tickets with no issues at all. They had bought their room and tickets in advance, and none of us were on the dining plan. I had no problem checking in, using Magical Express, or with anything else resort-related. The CMs at check-in seemed to be used to that sort of thing, because when I arrived and we went to buy my tickets, we explained that I was only visiting for a few days and his response was just "oh great, can I help you with anything?" :)

Yep, we usually have a friend or family join us for part but not all of our trip. We don't add them to the package ahead of time and have never had a problem with DME, resort or KTTW, tickets, etc. A lot of the time they even waive the extra adult charge

To add her prior to your arrival it is true she would have to be on the same package. We have added someone once when we checked in and once 3 days into our stay with ZERO issues.:thumbsup2

Just thought I'd update on how it went. We had no problem at all in adding her to the room. I thought we would have to go to a check-in desk and also concierge to get her tickets. They just took care of all of it at the concierge desk in no time at all. They even brought DD a balloon for her birthday while we were checking in.

Thanks for updating! My mom is coming to surprise DS (turning 5 on trip) and spending one night with us mid-trip in May. We're happy to pay the $25 to add her to the room for the night, but she will only need a 1 day ticket (non-hopper) and adding her ahead of time required her to have 6 day hoppers like the rest of us. I'm so happy to hear the CMs weren't suprised and were happy to help! We're staying CL at AKL so I'm hoping they're able to help as well and can get her squared away for DME. We arrive on a Sunday and she's not coming until Thursday - she'll only have a very small carry-on so won't need luggage tags, etc. Do you think this will this be enough time for them to get DME squared away?

When I joined my parents mid-way through their vacation, they couldn't add me to DME in advance, so they just added me to the room reservation when they checked in, and then when I got to DME I gave my name and their room number and they let me right on the bus. The same thing happened the following time I flew down to join them, with no problems at all.

We drove so we didn't need DME this time. Our situation was pretty simple with just adding her to the room and getting tickets for her. She did have 2 separate cards: 1 for room key and 1 for tickets.
