Free dining???

My family will be at disney world September 21-28. I know the free dining isn't out yet but can anyone tell me the chances of getting it that week IF they offer it.

There's a rumor on the resorts board that it may not be offered. Definitely too early to know. Check out the discounts thread in the resorts forum.

It would be a major departure from the last several years if they do not offer it. Rumors are just rumors, so for now we can just go on the past, until anything is confirmed. So I would say your chances are real good!!

Be careful getting people's hopes up. Let's look at the past along with the present, shall we?

2011 AND 2012 had free dining Jan-Mar, but there was NO free dining offer for 2013. They did have the stay/play/dine offer, but that was a much lower discount than free dining.

Fall free dining has a longer history, and Sept is still their lowest month in attendance, so the chance of free dining is still there, but they may only offer the S/P/D again to see if that's enough to get people in.

Actually the rumor (posted by someone who has in the past posted very accurate preliminary info on free dining offers) is that the free dining offer this year will be significantly different from prior years. The supposition is that there would be no FD for the value resorts and the mods and deluxe would only get QS.

It seems to me they will have to do something to fill all of those rooms especially during hurricane season.

If only they had a big new program of some sort they could roll out this year to incentivize people to stay onsite................ :rolleyes1

Ive heard rumors that they are changing the dining plan as well. From what ive seen it looks like they are thinking of going to a set menu just for the ddp instead of being able to order anything off the menu you wanted and if you wanted something not listed it would be considered an add on.

We just got a free dining pin in the mail and it is for value resorts too. So although they may get rid of a free dining offer, they are still giving out pins.

I'm happy for you. :goodvibes

But it is of little comfort to those of us who wouldn't know a PIN code if it jumped up and bit us in the behind. You know, because we don't get them. Depsite trying every "trick" posted here on the DIS.

I sense you are bitter. ;) Actually, I share your pain - and experience. Despite a huge investment of time pricing out/ saving vacations, asking for DVD's & maps, using 10 different email addresses, I seem to be dead to the PIN people. (I am, however, very popular with the RI jury selection database.....)

As for free dining, if they do offer it, the best way to get it is to sign up ASAP. This means subscribing to MouseSavers, Allears.net, and watching the boards here. Believe me, if they offer it, these folks would be the first to know!

Who, moi? ;) Self-appointed president of the "NO-PIN" club?

Dead to the Pin people? :rotfl: But not the jury selection people?:rotfl2::lmao:

I'm suddenly feeling better about my own plight!

Another thing is if you have a Disney Visa card, they often get the offers first, it seems about a week before the general public, so getting a Disney Visa might help.

I don't want to add to the rumour mill - but here is a site that talks of a bounce back offer in end summer/early fall:
http://**************.net/2012/09/02/bounce-back-offer-hints-2013-free-dining-dates/

doesn't mean it true, or that these are set dates or anything, just be aware that things may not be the same as they've been in the past - Disney can change it's mind

We get PINS all the time and I have found that the majority of them are simply the offers that eventually become public offers. We just get them first.

I've gone the last 2 Septembers, and there was free dining offered both times! Chances are they'll do it again!

Well, Aut/Sept was the original free dining period. And there was good reason for that. It's hurricane season, and school is starting. I think if any time of year has a good shot at FD, that would be it. It will still be hurricane season. And school will still be starting.

That doesn't mean it will look the same as in years past though.

How do you get a pin?

If you have an account in Disney's system you're eligible, but they are sent out at random/unknown reasons.

Personal opinion, is that FD will either be limited to pins/BB offers and SPD will be the new FD, or as Danny said - they change the levels they offer it.

Either way... it's definitely going to sting a lot for tons of people.

Not having FD offered Jan-Mar was a big hint that things are changing.
