So, is Luna Park open today?? We arrive in 11 days and I am really hoping the rehab starts 1/28 and not today!

My DW and I are both pretty athletic and decided to "race" one of the boats that was almost full. We walked from HS to the BW and just beat the boat by about 5 minutes (pushing a stroller). The stops are what slows the boat down.

I will say that my wife walked from HS to EPCOT and my DD and I took the boat (I was feeling lazy). She beat us by a good 20 minutes...again, the stops at the resorts take much longer than you'd expect.

It's less than 1.25 miles from the turnstiles at Hollywood Studios to the International gateway at Epcot. My wife and I were able to walk it very leisurely, while pushing our two year old in a stroller, in less than 20 minutes.

The turnstiles at Hollywood Studios are also about .75 mi to the Luna Pool, so most would be able to walk that in under 18 minutes.

From the courtyard on the BoardWalk side of the resort to the International Gateway, you are looking at less than .40 miles, so most people would be able to walk that in less than 10 minutes.

Also the two real queen beds in the regular room vs one queen and one queen sofa bed in the studio is something to take into consideration. Whether it is worth it or not is something only you can decide. Either way enjoy the BW!!!

Ps -- Great picture KOOK!! Happy new year everyone!
The BoardWalk is photogenic and I'm good at copying and pasting;)

Good information that I have posted to the first page HERE - thanks!

I don't know firsthand, but someone over on the Beach Club thread just posted that they got a letter in the mail saying Stormalong Bay would be closed for a few weeks beginning 1/16, and they could use the Luna pool during that time. In order for that to work, I would guess Luna Park will be open until the end of the month ...

Just want to clarify. The SLIDE at Storm Along Bay will be closed, not the whole thing.

BWI IPO confirmed that the Luna Park rehab begins on January 28. Wdwinfo.com reports that the Jib Slide closure at SAB runs through January 25. So BC guests can use Luna Park through the 25th, and BWI guests can use SAB starting on January 28.

Thank you, dansdad and pixarmom for posting clarifications. This is from the DIS:

Disney's Beach Club Resort- Stormalong Bay- The Flying Jib Pool Slide will be closed 1/16/2013- 1/25/2013. Stormalong Bay kiddie pool slide closed 2/1/2013- 2/12/2013.

Disney's Boardwalk Resort- BoardWalk Bakery expansion - BoardWalk Bakery will be closed during this work. A coffee cart will be available on the boardwalk area during this time. Closed 01/02/13 - 04/12/13. Luna Park Pool refurbishment - Guests may use the other leisure pools located next to Community Hall or on the Inn side. Closed 1/28/2013- 3/1/2013

Sorry, hope I didn't add to the confusion!

No, not at all and thanks for the response! And thanks to everyone else for posting updates. We received the letter saying Luna was closing on 1/2 but I was pretty confident that all of the responses from BW IPO were correct....yay!

We just returned form an Ahhhhh-Mazing trip 12/14-12/22... We were in a Studio with DVC. Rm. 1123. The location was Perfect other than a long walk to do laundry.

Anyone heading to Boardwalk in the next few weeks... If you are staying in a Villa, could you please let me know if the master bedroom closet (the one that is in the bathroom) is big enough to house a pack in play?

Our littlest one is 2.5 and did horribly sleeping in our room over holiday travels. I'm hoping we can fashion a mini room for her.

We always use our closet as a dressing room, I believe it should fit a pack and play.

Hi. We're thinking of booking BWV this summer, but a friend just told me that the pool may be closed for renovation. Does anyone have any details about this? Thanks!

If you look back a couple posts, Luna Park pool will be closed 1-28 until 3-1.

Re-joining since we've not stayed here in 3 years. :(

However, when we were there (1/10), the pool was closed but we received a letter in the mail explaining that ahead of time and then with info that you could use the pool at YC/BC. You can see why they will have the refurb done before spring breaks begin. But I think this is how they normally do it.

So excited for our next stay--BW view!

Planning to stay 12/19 - 12/25 this year (I know, long way off). We are not booked as of yet, probably will wait a couple of months before we make it official.

We won't book a Water View because we did not enjoy that the last time we stayed here (bird poop everywhere!), but would love suggestions on what to request for a Standard View. Do any of the SV rooms have visibility to fireworks and garden?
