Resort Board Community :) .... General Resorts discussion, open to all!! :)

Yay, good news, I'll just pray for warm weather for you! According to Accuweather now, next week has a few 77 degree days so my crew may try to bring suits. Do you know if the Jambo pool is heated?

I think all WDW pools are heated a bit, but to me they never really feel like they are. I know last January at the GF you could see the steam rising off the pool it was so dang cold outside. And people were still swimming in it! :scared1:

My resort board thought of the night... why is it so hard to stay at the Poly these days??? I feel like every time I check availability it's either sold out, or no AP discount, or the discount is tiny. It makes me sad because it's my favorite resort and I really REALLY want to stay there for my 40's birthday this March. But I just can't get a decent rate!!!! :worried: :(

One week from right now I'll be at the BWI!!!! :beach: Can't wait to get out of the FREEZING weather we have here in Indiana!!!

One week from now I'll be back home! So much to do, on laundry load number 5 for today. Put Amy on a bus yesterday morning for Tampa, they're having a blast. She said today's Busch Gardens day was the best day ever for her :). Will pack tomorrow. I'd like to leave early ish on Tuesday as we not know Tampa like we do Orlando. Anyone have any suggestions or things to do there on NY afternoon while we wait for the Outback Bowl to finish?

We went to the Outback Bowl once, when Purdue was in it, I can't remember seeing anything exciting around there. I will ask DH. ;)

Thanks, guessing we will plan to be on the area around 3pm. Game starts at 1 and its SC gamecocks and Big Blue Michigan. Since 9/11 the security has heightened and I won't be able to pick her up at the charter bus area so I'm hoping the bus driver picks an easy pace for us to find to collect her.

Hey guys! :wave2: A lot has happened since I was last here on the DIS... I managed to BREAK MY TOE on New Year's Day! :(:(:(:(:sad::sad::sad: Isn't that just all the luck?? I finally felt 100% back to normal from my car accident and now this. Is there some stronger force at work trying to keep me from my WDW trip???? :scratchin So now I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to try to walk, get a wheelchair, a scooter, or what??? The pain is a little better today... I'm walking on a cane and getting around OK. Luckily I've got 3 days to pack so I'm taking it slow. Anyone have any advice or information about renting wheelchairs??? Also, do I qualify for boarding the plane early? Not that I'm trying to take advantage but it would be nice to get seated up front where I have more room for my stylish velcro boot! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: So much for the pedicure I was supposed to get tomorrow.

Oh Erika  I broke my foot 2 weeks before Disney :crazy2: I rented a wheelchair from Walker Mobility...price was great and they deliver and pick up from the resort...also the Epcot resort area...PERFECT for wheelchairs...IMHO. My hubs had to push me around, which was a negative...but I figured a scooter would be way to dangerous...the CMs were great helping with the chair getting on and off the rides..:goodvibes You'll still have a great trip. Please don't try to do the trip without a chair..you'll need it ::yes::

I agree, the thought of a scooter frightens me to death! :scared1: What is the protocol for wheelchairs on the buses? Can I walk on and just fold the chair up like a stroller? Do they fold easily?

They fold in half, we carried it on...yup just like a stroller. The driver offered to help and let me stay in the chair, but I declined. We did EMH to MK, and even with the full bus, no problems :) The boat to DHS is a roll on so that would've be easy peasy...I stood, so a very pregnant woman with a little one could sit though. The boat was packed...then I went in the chair once we got off the boat :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info ;) I definitely don't want to sit in a chair and be rolled on and off the bus, I'm not in that bad of shape. Mainly I just can't bend my toes so I'm walking with my foot sort of off to the side. I might try to do some walking later in the week once I'm feeling better. I hate to be a burden to my family but I also don't want to make myself feel worse. Maybe a few grey goose slushies and I won't notice the pain! :rotfl:

Walking full speed through a dark hotel room that happened to have a table in my way!!! ;) As soon as I hit it I knew it was broken. It made a horrible snap!!

Does anyone else have to deal with friends and/or family members who are anti-WDW? I swear I don't even tell people anymore when we are about to go because I don't want to hear them start in "OOoohhhh you're going back again already?????? Weren't you just there like last week??? HA HA!" Oh yes you are so funny and original I've never heard that joke before. Don't rain on my parade people!!!!! pixiedust:

Now back to packing :littleangel:

Ouch, so sorry for you.

Yes! And to tell you the truth, I have so much fun pretending that I don't realize they are trying to be funny/sarcastic.

I hear the same line, "Oh you're going back again? Weren't you just there?" My response "I KNOW! Isn't it great!? I hate to wait too long between trips. I'm so lucky the whole family is into it as much as I am!!!"

Or something along those lines if they make some other snide remark.

That usually sends them away murmuring to themselves and shaking their head. :rotfl2:

IF it was me, I would rent the scooter. Why? because it will keep your foot off the ground and out of the way of being bumped or stepped on by others! And yes, you should be able to preboard - you do have impaired mobility and if anyone ever needed a front seat it's you - so you can keep your foot elevated. Trust the old lady on this one.

Hi Erika, I was there last year with a broken foot... stayed at the BWI. I did not rent a scooter just kind of hung around the hotel and downtown disney and went to a Yankee spring training game. Just so you know if you do need to rent a scooter there is a place on the boardwalk that rents them if you feel you need one when you get there. I was in a boot so I didn't worry about being stepped on at all it's pretty protective. As for the boarding early call the airline and let them know you need a little more room and they might place you in front. Also when you get to the airport take the wheelchair it helps get you priority. Have fun and good luck!!

The trip ended up being not too terrible. LOL ;) I did rent a wheelchair and used it for about 3 days before finally having all I could take of being pushed around. My kids loved pushing me at first, they practically fought each other over taking turns, then once the fun wore off it became a nightmare. Nobody wanted to push me, so they'd either go way too fast or too slow. I was in a panic the whole time they were going to ram my foot into something. Finally I decided to cut my bandages off a few days early and just walk on my own. It was painful, but better than being pushed. Don't ask me about all the "FUN" I had when DH and the kids decided it would be cool to let me free-fall down the ramp to the Jungle Cruise!!! :scared::scared::scared: I literally screamed like a person being stabbed. LOL :rotfl:

Oh goodness Erika :rotfl: Welcome home!!!! More details please...hopefully without your family didn't let you roll down hills after the Jungle Cruise:flower3:

I need to have a pity party!!!!!! We had to cancel our March trip and reschedule for May. :( DH has a conference out east he needs to attend and we just couldn't make it work. Of course it being Easter week was insane already, room rates were so high, and I'm a spoiled baby when it comes to the deluxe resorts, so we made the executive decision to just do May instead. The kids last day of school is May 24th so we will go that following week. It hits memorial weekend but at least I can get decent AP rates. In fact a room at the YC in May was LESS than what we were paging for CSR in March!!! Crazy

So now I have 3 months to wait but I will have lots of planning to keep me busy. Not to mention getting DS ready for high school!!! Which seems totally impossible to believe.

Hope everyone is well and let's hope this miserable winter ends soon!!!!!! :)
