Hello all! We are staying at the YC Jan 25-27th and have received a letter in the mail indicating the Stormalong Bay pool slide will be closed starting Jan 16th thru "the end of January". It also says we are welcome to use the Luna Park pool during this time. Figured I'd mention it,,didnt see it noted here,,sorry if I missed it.

For our family, anything less than 8 nights is too short. Two weeks would be ideal but our schedules don't allow for that. The longest we've done is 11 days and we loved it! Last year's trip was 8 nights (9 if you count the night we slept in the Atlanta airport). Our trip this year will be 8 nights long.

We're in the minority but we love our two week trips!

Plenty of time to do the parks, relax at the resort and do some special things like our girls day out (GF Gardenview Tea Room and GF Spa) while DH and ds do the "guys day out" EPSN for lunch and shopping and then doing all the things that I would go crazy over (don't ask)!

Every few years we will do a few nights at Universal but mostly we just love our long Disney trips. We used to do a few trips a year but now we just do one long one and we love it!!!!

You guys holiday like we do :goodvibes
Love my 2week trips:)

We also received the same letter today and we leave the 25th of this month. Really hoping the slide is open as it was a major draw for our 7 year old. Can anyone give light to what "end of January" might mean? Maybe Teena???? Also I thought I read that BW's Luna park pool was going to be closed and that BW guests could use SAB? Did I miss read or going crazy which is possible.

I'll try to get the schedule when I work this weekend. They only close one-third of the pool at a time so most of SAB is always open. And yes, when BW's pool is down, they can use SAB. When the slide at SAB is down, we can use the slide at the BW pool so I doubt very much that both slides will be down at the same time.

This is the ninth January I've worked there and every January they do pool rehab. That's when it starts. They only take one-third of SAB down at a time. Depending on the type of rehab will dictate how long each section is down.

January, February and early March are the coldest months for us so it makes sense to take the pools down for rehab at that time.

Wdwinfo.com reports that the slide will be closed through January 25: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/rehab.htm. Luna Park at BWI closes on January 28, and BWI guests have the option of using SAB during the Luna Park closure. So I'm not sure that guarantees the SAB slide rehab will be complete by then, but it looks likely!

Cape May dinner
BOG dinner
Captains Grille Breakfast
50's Prime Time lunch
Jiko dinner
Yachtsman dinner
Cape May breakfast
Coral Reef dinner ( eaten here before, but dh and dd are scuba and snorkeling Nemo tank so feel it would be a good option that day)

Since we are staying CL, would you switch Captains Grille Bkfst to a dinner?

I've never done CG dinner but we love their breakfast. IMO with the great dinners you have planned I would do the breakfast buffet.

I'm trying to figure out where the YC CL GV rooms are. Can you see Epcot from the rooms? Are they located looking at the back entrance of the YC? Where are they located from the CL lounge?

Take a look at this map. You can see tha gazebo in the middle. >>>Go to Birds Eye View and Zoom in. Bing Map

Teena, THANK YOU!!! My family and I hope to meet you when we arrive for our first BC visit! I know we might just be whistling about swimming in January but here's to hoping!!!!

Hello All,

After "lurking" on the BC/YC board for a couple of months now, I finally convinced my hubby to let me book a trip there--yippee! It looks like an amazing place! This will be my kids 2nd trip to WDW and they are very excited. They will be almost 9 and 10 when we go, so SAB should be perfect for them.

We will be staying at the YC--hoping for a balcony! We are checking in on 8/30. Please add us to the list :cool1:

I'm going to be away most of January. I work this Saturday and Sunday and then next Saturday set sail on a 14 night cruise. I'll be back to work on 1/27. Today is close to 80 and it's January. Keep those fingers crossed!

Oh no! I was hoping to see you Marathon Weekend. :(

I believe two of the five rooms have king beds and two have two queens and a daybed. That means the other probably has two queens.

Thanks for this info as well. Unfortunately it wasn't quite the reply I was hoping to get.

I'm going to be traveling with my mom, but I have no desire to sleep in the same bed as her. I love her, but I also love my own space. I can request two beds until I'm blue in the face but at the end of the day a family of 3+ is obviously going to get the queen bed rooms over a family of 2. And I'm definitely not okay with sleeping on or dodging a rollaway bed in the room. And I doubt we'd be fortunate enough to get a view upgrade just to be guaranteed the 2 beds.

At one point I did have my heart set on a Deluxe CL room at BC, but I eventually decided that the YC felt more my speed, and I'd rather stay on the 5th floor to have the whole "Club Level Experience." With the money I'd be saving from the deluxe room I was going to upgrade to the DDP. SO I think I'll go back to basic dining with the deluxe room. Unless....

I do see on the Disney website that GV CL rooms at BC specifically say "2 Queen beds and 1 day bed" under the bed configurations. Just that one option. Every other room category gives multiple choices. Is that accurate?

Thanks again for your help! :)

Only one of the GV CL rooms at the BC has a daybed. All others (8) have two queens.

Have a great cruise and we check in on the 25th for 8 nights so just maybe... and I have more then just my fingers crossed. Almost anything will be better then January in NJ

Awesome, thanks! I don't care about the day bed, I'd actually decline it if it was given to us so a larger family could have it. I just want two normal beds. LOL

Need some opinions - Currently I have dinner reservations for Cape May (which we have done before) and I made breakfast reservations at Captains Grille. We are staying YC CL so I am wondering if I should switch Captains Grille to dinner (never been) and cancel Cape May. We are doing the regular dining plan. Here is the line up:
Cape May dinner
BOG dinner
Captains Grille Breakfast
50's Prime Time lunch
Jiko dinner
Yachtsman dinner
Cape May breakfast
Coral Reef dinner ( eaten here before, but dh and dd are scuba and snorkeling Nemo tank so feel it would be a good option that day)

Since we are staying CL, would you switch Captains Grille Bkfst to a dinner? We have never eaten at CG before and I heard good things about their breakfast...not sure about their dinner?
Im not worried about the dining plan as we will be paying oop for a few of the meals and we have the TIW card.
TIA,
In case you are wondering its myself, DH, DD11, and DS 5

We love Captain's Grill for breakfast. It is our favorite. It's a must do:thumbsup2

And if I am not mistaken, I believe all of the BC GV CL rooms have a full balcony!

Thanks - even though the lounge will have some breakfast, i still enjoy breakfast out. The rest of the family, not so sure unless of course, characters are involved :-)

Happy New Year BC/YC fans!

Sue, I bet Whistler is beautiful at this time of year!!! We're thinking about either Whistler or Park City next year - need to get these boys on skis again!

Whistler was beautiful! I'd post pics if I knew how, lol. I'm with Teena on this one :goodvibes
Just got home today. If you come to Whistler you'll have to let me know!
