Changing Start Corral?

Hi Everyone!

I will be down in Disney this year for my first marathon, and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on changing my start corral at the Race Expo?

I have been placed in Corral D, because originally I was told to start further back.. unfortunately, I'm beginning to realize that this is a bit TOO far back for my usual running pace, and I would like to be moved up to at least Corral C. I anticipate on finishing between 4 hr and 4:30. Possibly faster depending on how I feel raceday.

I know that the rD website says I can bring proof-of-time to the Expo and have my corral changed... I was wondering if anyone had any tips for this? I'm mostly wondering how much of a hassle this change will be... Lots of time? Have to change numbers/write on my number... etc?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I know I should have done this earlier, but was caught up with my training and fundraising (with TNT).

Thank you! :)

See all of you fellow runners soon!

Assuming you have a 10k that supports a faster corral, then you can head to the Runner Relations Desk. It is located in the HP Building where we pick up bibs. Note that bib booths have been on two floors through the last couple years and that the RR desk may be on the other floor. Bring your results, making sure your print out has the race name, date, distance and your time. They compare it to a table and will re-assign with a sticker. The line ranges from walking up to 5-8 folks. It seems to go quickly.

Ok, Great! I have a 10 mile race that supports a faster corral, so I will print out those results and bring them with me. I will keep an eye out for the RR desk. I was hoping it wouldn't be too much of a hassle, so thank you so much for your advice!

I have never tried to change my corral. Just jumping in here to say I've not heard of anyone with proof of time who had any difficulty getting properly moved. Hope it all goes smoothly for you.

Thanks, Tiger Lily! I was hoping that it wouldn't be too much of a problem, but I didn't want to cause unnecessary stress that weekend.. If I found out that it was going to be challenging, I would have just stayed where I was. I'm just doing the run for fun anyways! Thanks again :goodvibes

Look hard left as you get into the bib area. I am sure that it will move now that I said this...

Hard left, okay I will try to remember that. We won't be in too much of a rush anyways, so its alright if I get a little lost.
Thanks again! :thumbsup2

Just want to chime in and say that it's not a long process at all. I have changed my brother's corral for the past 2 years (and will do it again this year). I could only see it taking a long time if there's a big line to wait in.

Thanks! That makes me feel better. I will plan on changing it then.

Just wanted to chime in and confirm that it is super easy to do! One recommendation I have us to highlight your name and time on your printout, it just makes the process that much faster:). GL!

Thanks for the tip, Bephus! I was actually already thinking about doing that, so now you've just confirmed that idea. :thumbsup2

I notice that some people already know which corral they have been assigned. How do you go about finding which one you are in? I'm planning on finishing the full in about 4:30 and don't want to be caught right at the back of the pack. I'm planning on running with the 4:30 pacer.

Go to www.rundisney.com
Then to walt disney world marathon weekend
then click on the 'runner info' midway down the page in a small box.
Scroll almost all the way down to WAIVERS
click on the top line for waiver.
Fill in info
when info pops up you hit 'print'
scroll down page and you will see your bib number.
Then
Back under the runner info page you will find corrall assignement...just click that and it will show what corrall your number is in.

I hope I didn't leave anything out.

Thanks for the info. It looks like I'm going to have to change corrals. Already printed out race result from a half in September that shows we can run 4:30 pace.

Looks like we're in the same boat- I'm glad you were given the steps to find your corral, I hadn't found mine until the day before yesterday.

Best of luck on changing & in your race!

They have us in corral E and I feel we should be in D. Good luck moving up to C and have a great race as well. Also, thanks for starting this thread.

Thanks for all the good info - I am running the Princess Half and ran a race on New Year's Day to be able to prove a move up. I have an email from the timing company with my individual results, but I could also print the whole race results. Which would be better? Would the email be sufficient if it has all the info?
:goodvibes

ETA - oh, well, never mind. I just double checked the email, and it doesn't specifically list the date, nor the length of the race. It's got my pace, though

Still, thanks for the other info!

Just for others reading... If you have an email with all the necessary data, it speeds things up if you could print the email. Not mandatory, but think about trying to maneuver around on 10 different phone styles that you have never seen.

Bummer that the e-mail didn't include everything! I'm gonna have to print out the whole race results for my proof as well (which are about 14 pages long), so it is kind of a pain, but definitely would rather be prepared with everything than under-prepared!

Good Luck!

Browse over to coolrunning.com or athlinks.com. They might have the race results and you can print from there (also at the Expo as needed - I did last year to move my corral from D to B)
