March 29, 2013 8 Nights on the Magic

There is a link in a prior post to the read only version of the FE List. Already had you on board Amy. Good to hear from you again.

One thing... which cabin(s) did you want things delivered to?

We are doing both cabins. Bernie & Carol are in 7622 and Brian, Amy, Andrew (8) and Chris (14) are in 7562.

Thanks!!!!

For the person who asked what door ears and magnets are...

The cabin door has a door number on it. The door number is in a 7" in diameter circle. People print out Mickey ears and place them on either side of the circle, turning your door number into a Mickey head. (Of course, this has gotten quite elaborate, so that there are Mickey ears, goofy ears, hats of all types, etc.) I will try to post a link (still getting the hang of the Disboards site as I've never registered before....)

Here is a link to my favorite door ears:

Thanks Amy!

Another item to consider bringing (too late now to put in a Christmas gift!) is a small night light and or flashlight. I have something called Nite Ize, sometimes referred to as a bug light, and it can be solid light or flashing, is battery operated, and can stand on a table or be wrapped around something. Some people like to be able to find their way to the bathroom or something if they wake up late at night, or in an emergency, or even to read or work by if everyone else in the cabin is sleeping. I bought mine through LLBean or Lands' End (don't remember which!) but also available through Amazon.

Great News! KIds sail free on this cruise! started this morning.

We lost our $200 OBC but are getting a refund of $1100 :cool1:

Thanks Erik for calling!

We just moved our Dec. 2013 Fantasy cruise to this one.

Amy - I love the door ear designs! I normally change mine each day, so this will give me more choices! :cool1:

My family is Gold Castaway, but I've been on more cruises than the rest:

We are:

Tiffany (me) = 9th cruise (plus one Royal Caribbean cruise)
Doug (DH) = 8th cruise
Grady (DS - 13) = 7th cruise
Megan (DD - 9) = 7th cruise

I paid the cruise off this morning and checked in online. I also booked our bus to MK for 7:15am!

We would love to join the FE group. Our cabin is #1042

I"ve read through the list and have a few things to add: We travel with a collapsable laundry hamper that helps us keep our room tidy. I think I got it at the dollar store and it fits in the front zipper pocket of our luggage. We keep it in the corner and when it's time to pack all the dirties are in one place. We also bring a power squid instead of a power strip because the battery chargers are all different sizes and allows us to use all the plug ins. We also bring light sticks that hang on the bathroom door instead of a night light. That way we don't use a plug and its a soft glow just so we can find the bathroom at night. That is everything I can think of right now.

I'm so excited to be getting on the Magic! My last cruise was on the Fantasy in June and before that the Dream in Sept. 2011. We miss the Magic!

Erik was able to change both of my sisters reservations since we are linked. They are getting refunds, too.
:cool1:

We are able to keep our reservation but lost our 10% booking and $200 obc.
Able to keep everything we had booked.

Welcome! Were you able to take advantage of the kids sail free offer that opened this morning?

Yes - that is why we moved, but it is sad that Disney changed their policy and won't let us keep the onboard credit! This cruise was still less than the Dec. cruise on the Fantasy.

Somehow I'm more excited about this one too!!!:banana::banana:

We were looking at booking the Fantasy on board this cruise for August. Then, we decided that we wanted to do a Christmas cruise. I priced it out and it is expensive.

We ended up booking a 10 night southern on NCl Sun over Christmas and NYE.
We are very excited about the ports. St. Thomas, St. Lucia, barbados, St. Marten, and Dominica. It was the same price as the DCL 5 nights.

Last Easter , we were on HAl on an 11 night southern and enjoyed the different ports. My son loved Dominica and is looking forward to going back.

My kids have only cruised Disney, but I know they would love to visit some new ports. The Key West is new for us because neither of our Westerns stopped there. The first was a Double Dip at Castaway Cay and the second was on the Fantasy and it's too big for Key West. St. Martin was my favorite port on our Eastern.

I do have a quick question - if we take the shuttle to MK do we have to ride back from MK or can we get picked up at Epcot? :confused3

You will be able to check a DCL bus from any park. I believe the last buses leaves about 10:30pm. There will be a schedule left in the stateroom.

We were at WDW in August and saw the buses lines up at each park. I believe there were usually 3 buses at each stop.

We have sailed most lines. Our favorite is Disney!

Thank you for the quick response. I just changed our bus to Epcot. It looks like the 7:15am bus will get us to the park before rope drop at any of the parks. I'm just pretty sure we will be at Epcot at the end of the day when it's time to go home.

I think MK had early Magic hours the day we are there.
I have read on the Dis that previous cruiser have been able to use them.

We are on the early bus to Epcot. I think 6:45 am.

Who do we contact about taking advantage of the kids sail free opportunity? Is there an age restriction? We went through a travel agent - will that make a difference?

You should call asap since there are limited cabins/space for promotion.
Thanks so much for the heads-up! I called our travel agent and she got it taken care of! What a nice surprise - you're wonderful for letting us know!

You are welcome. I heard a rumor last week that they were offering more kids sail free out of Galveston. DCL would not release the dates until this morning at 8am. Erik called first thing this morning and got it changed.

The cruise before us on 3/23 is not included.

Think of all the thins that you can splurge on with the refund.

Rainforest room, Palo dinner and brunch, extra drinks of the day, excursions, etc..
