Biggest Loser Run/Walker Thread 2012/13--Everyone Welcome! :)

Very cute! :santa: And what a nice day you had to run that day because, as you know, it has been quite rainy here lately. :umbrella: I loved the garland!

Thanks! :)

It was a gorgeous morning for a run; no rain, the sun was shining - perfect! :sunny:

Looks like you had a great time Alice. What a beautiful day for a race. :)

How is everyone? I think there are several people in this group getting ready for Disney marathon weekend in January. :)

I have one more really long run coming up this weekend. Fingers crossed that the weather cooperates. The plan is to go 23 miles. I think once this run is over I will be able to relax a little bit. We ran 6 miles on Saturday and worked on slowing down our pace in the hopes that our 23 mile run goes a little better than the 20 did. We made a rookie mistake on the 20 and went out to fast. The last couple of miles were brutal and I was miserable. It was pretty awful. I am cautiously optimistic that the 23 is going to go well! :)

We're rooting for you, Rose! :cheer2:

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and is doing well with their training! :santa:

Alice, I saw on the exercise thread that you have been ill. I'm so sorry and hope that you have a speedy recovery. :flower3:

I think I know who is going to Marathon W/E in a couple of weeks but let's do a roll call to make sure!

I'll be there! Running my first ever half. I completed 14 miles on Saturday and am now in taper mode. I got a few miles in Christmas morning...then woke up middle of the night with a stomach bug. *Nice* :( Feeling better now - just taking it easy and glad to be in taper mode!

Also need to get myself back on track overall - I'm carrying around a few extra pounds from vacation/holidays/etc despite the running. I'll definitely be focusing on getting those off!

Thanks, Lisa - I'm feeling better! Commitment Day cancelled the New Year's run in my city - boo! - so not sure what I'll do to kick off the New Year now.

Excited to hear about The Marathon weekend!

Checking in...not that I do that very often. ;)

Last Sunday (12/30) was the Biggest Loser RunWalk 5K (and half marathon) in Panama City Beach. It was so much fun! Jackie and Dan Evans (mother/son team from Season 5) were there as was Danny Cahill (season 8 winner). My sister-in-law and I were walking participants in the 5K. Danny actually walked and talked with us for a bit, telling us about the first 5K he finished and what it was like on the ranch. Pretty exciting! There were cameras and TV cameras everywhere, and bits and whatnot are supposed to air on The Biggest Loser this season (and if someone else has done one of these races and I've missed it and you've already heard all this...sorry for the repeat!)

We both finished at 54:40 (which is an improvement of 3-4 minutes over our last 5K, so Yay, us!) Because my sister-in-law was the ONLY 5K walking participant in her age category, she actually got a 1st place ribbon. I was 6 of 7 in my age category, and we came in 74 and 75 of 112. Maybe not the BEST stats, but we're still pretty darn proud of ourselves and looking forward to the next race, which, for us, will likely be in April. :)

Oh, yeah...did I mention it was cold? No spectators whatsoever. :)

Looking forward to seeing both of you ladies soon! :jumping1: Hope to see you at the big WISH meet Friday, 1/11/13 at 4:00 at the Pop Century Resort.

Bummer about the race cancellation, Alice. It's not really racing weather in our neck of the woods either.

I'm really looking forward to Marathon weekend. Just kind of at the knee knocking stage now. :rotfl:

Congratulations on your finish and your new PR! :thumbsup2 This is an exciting stage of racing because you learn so much and can really see big changes from race to race. Keep up the good work!

Woohoo! We have a fancy early dinner that evening at Narcoossee's (YUM), where I'm planning on some great protein. I don't think I can make the WISH meet and the ADR on time, so we might have to find each other another way...

I'm getting to the knee-knocking stage, too. And I just signed up for my third half of the year - a Diva half in northern VA wine country in September. If I do the Wine & Dine, too, as I've been pondering, I'll officially be crazy. ;)

Good luck to everyone running this weekend! :goodvibes

I hope everyone's races went well! Excited to hear about the WDW Marathon. :cool1:

I'm scrapping my race this coming weekend. I'm just not in the condition I thought I would be, so I'll get back on my training schedule and save myself the $30 for the run towards new shoes. :)

Bumping!!

I did my first race of the season.
St Joes 3 mile run - time 40:35

Next up is the Larry Pontbriant Memorial run May 19th. I hope my knee is better by then.

I ran the Fort Vancouver 10K on March 3rd and did ok. :)

Next race for me is this weekend for the Seahawk 12k; really been looking forward to it but I twisted my ankle 10 days ago and it's still a bit tender. We'll see how I get on.

Congrats on your 10K, Alice! :yay: Bummer on the twisted ankle. pixiedust: for speedy healing.

Thank goodness it is finally getting warmer around here for running outside! :sunny:

Nice to see you! :flower3:

Got my feet wet with my 1st half at the Rock'n'Roll in Portland. Too much fun! :)

I had a temp of a 101º the day before the race, though, so was just glad to finish. Seattle Rock'n'Roll half up next and I'm looking to improve my time. :cool1:

How is everyone's event season going?

Has anyone ever used the services of a personal trainer while on a Disney Cruise. Can't afford to bring mine along, although she would love it. I would love to know if it is worth while. We will only be off ship for 3 days while on a 7 day cruise. Any info would be appreciated.

Glad that you had a good time at the RnR in Portland, Alice! :yay: This has been a crazy spring weather wise for sure. Hoping for nice sunny and cool temps for you for the Seattle RnR -- it will be here before you know it!

I did the Coeur d'Alene Half Marathon this week-end. We had very nice weather but it was a bit of a slog because I was sick for three weeks at the end of April and into May. I'm happy to have finished half #5. :goodvibes

I'm doing a 5k on Saturday -- my first one! :cool1:

Not sure if you posted on the wrong thread but if it was me I would have my regular trainer give me a program to use while I am on the ship since it is only a week. I'm going to be gone for two weeks on a cruise soon and will do the best I can with running on deck 4 but I don't plan on doing any cross training aside from all the walking I'll be doing touring around. Good luck and have fun! :sail:
