are any and all room reservations eligible for a surprise resort upgrade?

We're staying using the AP discount and I'm wondering if that prevents us from possibly receiving a resort/room upgrade.

Don't get me wrong, I know resort upgrades are rare - I just want to know if it's even a possibility!

I would guess it is a always a possibility as long as you are staying at a Disney resort.:thumbsup2

Upgrades solely depends on occupancy rates and overbookings. How you booked doesn't matter. When they need to move someone - they do it.

We've received upgrades both with and without the AP discount, and on very rare occasions. But usually, we get a room within our booking category that feels like an upgrade because it's just that great!

Resort/room upgrades are done for the resort's operational needs, so it's not really about anything you've done. From what I'm told, it's a matter of happening to have a particular room type booked for dates that the resort needs it. In other words, purely a matter of luck. :)

We got a upgrade "room" from Standard Room to Pool View at the Beach Club. It was ESPN weekend and all the people that worked for ESPN was staying there. So I don't know if they booked all the standard rooms. But we over looked the quiet pool by the entrance to Epcot.
You can always ask. But becareful, because sometimes you get charged.
