Happy New Year to all my Dis friends!

I love both resorts but am partial to YC. I love the water views and the wedding gazebo view is one of the best garden views I've ever seen at any of the resorts. I also love the quick access to the marina. You can't go wrong with either resort. The one thing I do make sure I do though is pop over to say hello to Teena!

We are checking in to the BCV in just 18 days (eek!) and are considering putting in a request for a particular room view. Is it worth it to place a request or do the DVC properties rarely fulfill requests? What view would you BCV experts suggest? I cannot seem to make up my mind between facing the quiet pool, Epcot, or courtyard area.

Thanks!

Thank you! So Happy to hear this! I think I am more excited about this trip than the kids are ::yes:: I made sure to make reservations for breakfast at Captains Grill and dinner reservations at Yachtsman. Each trip we do, I try to do new things that we haven't done before (except our repeat stays at Poly). We are having dinner at Cape May one evening so I hope to pop in and say hi to Teena :wave2:

I like the BCV's that face toward Epcot and are close to the BC. If you get in the section that is farthest from the BC, you get some noise from the road the runs behind there.

It counts if you wake up in time for the ball to drop, right???

To all our friends...

Thank you so much for the reply! What did you like about facing the Epcot area? Could you see Spaceship Earth/fireworks from your balcony?

And Happy 2013, fellow BC/YC lovers!! :)

Hi All.....New to this thread and new to BC, Arriving on Jan 13 and so looking forward to it. I've always wanted to stay at BC; it is such a beautiful resort.

:welcome:

I will add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

:cool1:

I hope you love your first stay at the Beach Club. Let us know if you have any questions before your visit.

We are staying at the BC the end of April, it will be our first time staying here, and after a lackluster stay at the boardwalk inn, we are gun shy- what are the chances of an upgrade, never had it happen, but just curious. Anything I should know about the resort- I have been reading but so far I only made it to page 6- I have two small kids- can't wait to use SAB. Thanks!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Hopefully you will find most of the information you need to know in the posts on Page 1, but if you have specific questions, ask away!

Some of the people who stayed at the Yacht and Beach club have reported back about upgrades, so it does happen. I'm not sure how often.

all of a sudden our First stay at Yacht Club is 26 days away. I have purposely stayed away from the DIS boards because my DH says I am an addict, trying to soak up as much knowledge and tips as possible but here it is 26 days away and I feel like there isn't enough time :)! As a previous Poly loyal fan, I felt I knew all the ins and outs and the best location to request, the best places to eat, the pin trading times - important to both dd and ds...everything!
Here we are staying our first time YC CL GV and I have no idea if I should be asking for a specific room location, if they do pin trading in the lobby, etc. Yikes! Since we are doing so much Epcot activities (Snorkeling and scuba diving the Nemo tank), we thought the YC would be a great resort to try. Now I am beginning to panic - should we have done a split stay with one of the MK resorts? We are staying Jan 26-Feb 2.
Any one have a recommendation on a YC CL GV room request? Thanks in advance -
time to start making the lists!!!

Wedding Gazebo view seems to be the most popular request for YC CL GV rooms, although if I am not mistaken, I think all but one of the rooms in the category you booked have this view.

If you are spending lots of time at Epcot, you really can't beat the location of the Yacht & Beach Club!

There is pin trading in the lobby with the greeters at the resort. I also remember some guests commenting about Teena (at the Beach Club) showing them a pin trading book at one of the desks. Maybe Teena or one of the guests who have used the books can give some additional information. I don't think there is a set "Pin Trading time", but I could be wrong about that.

I haven't seen this question asked before or maybe I missed it. DH and I will be staying at the YC CL water view. My daughter and friend will be staying in a regular room. Will I be able to have her come to our room to watch the fireworks at Epcot or to just hang out with us since we are CL? (I know that DH or I will have to go get them because she won't have access to the 5th floor- I want to be on the 5th floor)

A couple of thoughts- I don't think you are supposed to be able to bring friends/relatives with you to the 5th floor, and there are desks that are staffed by CL CMs right outside the elevator who you have to pass on the way to your room. I suppose you could ask the CMs in advance if it is ok to bring your friends up on a certain occasion, and they may say yes, but the friends shouldn't be sampling any of the snacks or drinks offered from the lounge.

Not sure if the YC CL water view rooms have a view of the Illumination fireworks. Some might, but since you are probably looking out towards the lagoon/Boardwalk, my guess is that the view of the fireworks will be limited. But someone else will have to chime in on this to confirm.

Your best bet may be to watch the fireworks from the beach in front of the resort, or the Boardwalk bridge

From the "Other Useful Info" Post on Page 1:

Can you see any of the Illuminations fireworks from places around the resort?

There are a few places where you can view some of the high fireworks from EPCOT's Illuminations show. Many people recommend watching the fireworks from the bridge between the Beach Club and the Boardwalk resort areas. You can also see some of the high fireworks from the Beach Club beach or from the Stormalong Bay pool.

We've only stayed in the villas three times and each time it was facing towards the Epcot side, which means it was facing a wooded area. BCV's are too far back to see anything inside Epcot. Here is a map:

Walt Disney World Maps by Robo- Epcot resort area

As you can see, there are a lot of trees between the villas and Epcot. I really like the relaxing woods view. The rest of the villas face the pool, parking lot, or other non-green areas.

I love the villas. It is a short walk into Epcot because there is a walkway along the wooded area that is a great shortcut.

Welcome to 2013!!

I can't believe I will be at BCV next month! Only 52 more days until I am back and enjoying it!! I guess it is time to get back into the Disboards to make sure I am ready for the trip!!

Thank you for your response, this board has been very helpful and such a great place to share in my excitement for our upcoming trip. I planned so many activities around Epcot/Hollywood Studios and the Yacht Club and Beach Club that I have ensured we will enjoy the location ::yes:: I booked an illuminations cruise right out of the YC marina for my husband's birthday which I am looking forward to! While we love doing the parks and rides, I love to explore and take advantage of the resort amenities as well so I know that even if its cold, we will be swimming and taking advantage of SAB. Disney addiction....a true problem!

I know this is silly but my husband wants to stay for week instead of splitting between dolphin and yc. I have been reading about how Disney is filling in all deep ends of pools and that is why he no longer wants to go to gf. I know sab has nice deep end but am worried that they are going to do away with deep end. The dates we will be going are mid September and I know its a slow week and am worried they will do a rehab of deep end and my dh is 6'5" and will kill me if he doesn't have deep end. Soooo...is there a way I can find out whether deep end will be rehabbed or filled in???? Thank you

Are the CL GV rooms only located on the 5th floor?
I want to see Illuminations (the high ones) from my room, should I request just an CL GV Epcot view?

There are only nine of these rooms and all are on the fifth floor. Your choices therefore are very limited and not sure if any of them offer an Illuminations view.

Our room had a great view of the high Illuminations. We were in a GV room facing the garden with the volleyball net. We found out what a view we had our last night, when we were in the room packing :rotfl:
