Concierge Door Decorations Question

... just wanted to verify that concierge doors are not to be decorated, b/c we aren't planning on any since we deduced from the threads that it was frowned upon. Additionally, we did not purchase a Birthday package with the door magnet, b/c we deduced from the threads that magnets are "not" to go on the concierge doors. Is this correct?

Well, I don't know that the doors "are not to be decorated" as much as they are a bit more difficult to decorate.

On the Dream & Fantasy the concierge doors have thin wood laminate over the metal doors, so the regular fridge-type magnets don't stick to them. You need heavier duty magnets to do so.

Where did you see that you can't decorate them? There are some people who feel magnets are tacky, others of us love to use them.

:cutie:

I hope not! We are going to be in a one bedroom on the dream in January and I have some cool magnets to put out.
On the Magic, my dad was in a one bedroom and had some magnets on his door, but that is different. There is no concierge section of the older ships.

We decorated our door on the Wonder. In fact there was a DVC magnet on our door when we entered the stateroom.

The doors on the Dream class are different than on the classics.

As a pp stated you need stronger magnets if you want your things to stick. We brought a bunch before because DD likes to play with them. If they do not stick to the entrance door rest assured that they will work on the interior doors.

Its not that they are not to be decorated, just that magnetic sheets probably wont work. They dont want sticky stuff on the doors that can ruin them by leaving a residue.

We used full size sheets of post it notes. They dont leave a residue and the staff loved the idea because they didnt mar the door finish.

Before anyone starts flaming, take a look at the doors during construction, ntoice the post it notes that were there?

I can report that last year we made a lot of magnets for our door in concierge on the Fantasy. Nothing stuck to the outside of the door. Not the magnet sheets and none of the individual magnets that we brought. We are DVC members and saw the DVC magnets on other doors on the ship but we didn't get one. We were sad but let's face it. The only reason we made them was to give us something to do in the weeks leading into the cruise!! :rotfl:

You can decorate with magnets. Apparently it does require stronger magnets, as there is a wood veneer over the metal door. Apparently many of the home-use magnet printer sheets are not strong enough.

This applies only to the Dream and Fantasy. On the Magic and Wonder, concierge doors are the same as all other doors.

We decorated our concierge door. There were probably three or four room doors on deck 12 that were decorated. Magnet sheets will not stick I discovered. Thankfully I brought some putty and that worked well. Our strong fridge like magnets stuck though.

We were on the Fantasy last Sept. and our door was full with magnets- we did use the stronger magnets but they stuck. They did not damage the doors and we received many compliments on it. Enjoy your experience- we were so spoiled that it looks like we are hooked on conceirge .

Glad to hear some of you were able to decorate the doors. I bought some of the printable magnet paper before finding out about the doors, since this will be our first time in concierge. I figure I'll just improvise now, or use them for FE gifts.

I was surprised when my husband called the concierge number this morning and they claimed since the doors were wood you wouldn't be able to decorate them. It's nice to know that isn't 100% of the case, but could be why some people are getting the impression you're not allowed to decorate them.
