Best day for Downtown Disney?

Are weekends more, or less crowded at Downtown Disney? Thinking about going on a Sunday in May.

I'm pretty sure I've heard weekends are more crowded due to more locals being there. I'm not sure if this effect would be less on Sunday since people generally would have work the next day.

I'm sure someone will come along with a better idea than me!:goodvibes

To be honest, I don't think it matters what day you go to DTD. The crowds are pretty much the same every day. Remember it really is nothing more than a spread out shopping mall. It doesn't have attractions, to speak of, just retail shopping and dining and some entertainment, but during the day it isn't anything special.

I'd just choose what ever day you feel that you might need a break from the park and a little bit lower key existence. That's what I do. If my body needs a break but I still want to do something Disney, it's hello DTD.

In my opinion, the eariler you go the better. I found much of the merchandise is the same in the park.

Perhaps the daytime hours are a little better, but I'll never do a summertime Sunday evening again! What a madhouse.

we havent noticed much of a diffrence in when we go to dtd

we normaly plan dtd on our arrival day instead of a park
plus this allows us to get a very good idea of the merchendise in the parks ahead of time and if we dont get it in a park we know what we can go back to dtd and get later

now im sure there are parts that are going to be a bit busier on the weekend the movies and the bowling lanes and possibly the restraunts with the locals

I've heard Mondays and Tuesdays are better and definitely early in the day. I've been at opening and place was almost empty til noon.

Days don't make much, if any, difference.

Time makes a big difference. If you go when it opens, it is much less crowded than it is later in the day.

We've actually found weekends to be significantly more crowded than weekdays, especially at night. Our first trip we went to DTD on a Thursday afternoon in May and it was practically empty. We ate lunch at T-Rex with no wait or ADR. Our last trip, we went on a Friday around 7pm in September and it was packed. There were also more things going on such as shows, entertainment, etc. If you go on a Sunday afternoon, I think it would be ok.
