Hi - I've read a few places that you can usually get a slice of the grapefruit cake from HBD at Starring Rolls. However - some reports indicate this isn't true... So, just wondering - in recent experience - what the deal is? I'm assuming that it is not a snack credit item - even if available.

I appreciate your help!!

Great question - I was planning on getting a slice myself in February. I know it is not a snack credit. I hope it is there!

The last time I was there was in 2010 and I was able to get a slice. I just asked and they went in the back and got me one. I know it has been 2 years since then, but thought I would post anyway. I would love to know also if that is still the case. I love that cake and really hope that I will be able to get it again in November when we go next

I don't know, but I'd be interested to know if its true! I only had the grapefruit cake once as part of dine with an imagineer, but I loved it (my love of all things grapefruit may have helped). I would stop every trip it it was available!

Every time this question is asked, the response is that sometimes they can get it for you and sometimes they can't.

Thank you - in doing a search (though, maybe I didn't do it right), I didn't see any recent commentary, so thought I'd ask to see what recent experience has been. I appreciate your response!!!

I wanted to make sure I got some grapefruit cake so we made ADR at HBD for 4:00 in the afternoon just to go in and get dessert. Dessert and coffee later in the day and then we'll be getting ready for Fantasmic. We'll see how it works out. We'll be there next week:cool1:

Awesome - hope you have a great time!!

When we were there last Thanksgiving, I was able to get some at starring rolls. I did buy a few things there at the bakery and then asked if they had grapefruit cake. They seemed fine with getting me some (this was mid day and they weren't extremely busy at the time). My DH was really excited since it was his favorite part of eating at Brown Derby. However I think I paid about $8-$9 dollars for each piece! I never bothered to ask how much it would be before I placed my order for the two pieces. Our bakery bill was like $27 with the other treat or two we had ordered. :rolleyes1 Oh well, it is really good cake. I made DH eat EVERY bite so we didn't waste any! ;)

Thanks for your response!! DH is really, really hoping we'll be as lucky. That is, in fact, his only request ... lol. But, he doesn't (nor, do I) want to incur the price of an actual meal at HBD... so, I hope that we're as lucky!! Thanks, again!!

We have the recipe and make it -- it is my favorite cake.

I ordered it "to go" once at the front desk of the Brown Derby! It was later in the evening and we went in on a whim. The servers were so sweet. Gave us 2 pieces with utensils. We enjoyed it on our balcony back at the Dolphin!

Oh, cool - at least another possible option (understanding that you may have just gotten lucky)... thanks for sharing!

I was able to get it in 2010 like a PP stated. Liked it so much that I booked an ADR 2011 just for the cake and the cobb salad, which I'm glad I did since the inside was just amazing. This year gonna try to get it at Starring Roles again since I'm only doing a half day at DHS and doing Epcot for dinner (first time doing the dining plan lol)

You'll be there ahead of me - please post back after your trip to let me know if you were able to get a slice!! If you don't mind, of course ;)

Of course!! I'll even try asking for it to go from the Brown Derby if I can't get it at Starring Rolls. I need this cake in my life! I can already taste it, lol.

After seeing these posts, I am now cancelling my ADR for dessert at HBD. I am going to try to get it at Starring Rolls and if I can't, I'll walk in and try to get it to go. If I can't do that then maybe it isn't worth getting at all.

Awesome - thank you - I look forward to hearing your report!!

We are leaving for our vacation Tuesday (EPCOT)/Wednesday (MK)/Thursday (UO)/Friday(AK)/..............Saturday is our DHS day so I'll let you know how my grapefruit cake experience turned out! We finish up at IOA/WWoHP on Sunday and head home.

I did call and cancel my ressies for HBD so I am hopeful that I can get my cake at Starring Rolls!

I am ready to go now!! I have to work tomorrow and it will be the longest day ever!
