So maybe I am jumping on the bandwagon late, but tell me about your smash books...what do you love, what do you smash? I picked up a book and a bunch of supplies at Archivers yesterday during the 40% off sale.

I started smashing not long ago.

I have a giant box of napkins, receipts, movie tickets coasters and all sorts of other stuff that I thought I might use in a scrapbook. Even thought the scrapbook is finished, done and put away, I still kept the stuff. I love journaling anyway and have several blank journals that I've made. I bought one of the smash stick pens and started smashing. ( incidentlly, I don't like the smash stick, I've had to go back and reglue most everything.) I haven't put anything in chronological order because I don't think your memories come back to you in chronological order. I glue something in the book and then write a little note next to it. That's it. Nothing needs to color coordinate, nothing needs to be mounted nor does the page need to be balanced. Just glue, write and smash.

I'm sure I will do a Disney smash journal this next trip. What is so cool is you can smash as you go.

For anyone still looking around at these, I found several at the Michael's in my nearest city (Manch, NH) on clearance for anywhere from $4.99-$7.99 for the books and .79 - $1.29 for the "stuff". That being said, another Michael's in Nashua had NOTHING of this on clearance, so obviously it pays to look around. Plus the Walmart in Manch, NH also had a handful of the Smash book accessories (pockets, tags, etc) on clearance, but the books were still nearly full price at $12 (despite being on the clearance rack).

I lucked out and bought 4 of these books plus TONS of extras for gifts.

I made my own version of a Smash book for DD to take to Costa Rica last February and she really loved it. She journaled in it every day and put stuff in the pockets. It wasn't as sturdy as a "real" Smash book, but I figured it would hold out for the week. The only thing we never did was go back and add photos where I had planned for them.

I love the idea of a Smash book because that is what I love most about scrapping.... saving the "stuff"! I love saving napkins, ticket stubs, and journaling to keep the memories alive... so a book like this is ideal. That said, I have yet to do an actual Smash book for myself!.................P

I will have to keep my eye out. I went to one M's today and nothing was on clearance, but with the 50% off coupon I managed to get a smash bundle for $10. I was hoping to get the red one, but they were out. Hopefully I can get that one after Christmas.

I made my first page the other day...showcased some of the things I really want combined with my love for the Mo Willems Pigeon. I will have to take a picture and post.

I bought all the smash stuff and took it on my trip but never used any of it. Ended up "smashing' stuff into my scrapbook with a tape runner instead and writing on whatever came to hand instead of the special little journal blocks. Unfortunately, may chipboard scrapbook is full already and I still have a carload of photos and stories to tell, so it looks like there will be a 12 x 12 as well. Maybe I can use the smash stuff in that one instead?

I like the Smash stuff and use it in my scrapbooks. I especially like the washi with the date stuff on it, and I use it on my pages. I also have used the journalling blocks.

I don't like the Smashstick either, the glue isn't very good. I like Smash books for smaller trips, used one for December Daily last year and have given several, pre-decorated, to people who have been going on trips so they can smash along the way, and they have used them.

I do have a Smash book I was going to use for my October trip and then forgot all about it, so maybe I can do one after-the-fact. I do like that they have come out with the 12 x 12 ones, and I think it would be fun to use one for a trip (but not haul it with you, that size isn't very convenient!).

I'm officially in love with this Pigeon page! He's my favorite character in kids lit right now.

We love the pigeon too! My mom got me The Pigeon Wants A Puppy for Christmas. Nothing like a 30 something getting picture books for Christmas. :rotfl:

Thanks for the scrappy love!

My 365 smash came in the mail yesterday...perfect timing. I love it! Great papers with that one! I managed to record The resolutions from DS and all of his cousins which ranged from sweet, "I want to make school better for every kid" to wacky "to push my doll stroller more". I saved some streamers, and DS's party hat. Gonna make a waterfall of pictures and I am done. LOVE SMASHING!
