Oh the places We Go, The People We see

Love all your pics from AKL. The hotel is just stunning.

Looks like you gals had a nice time at Disney on Ice... besides the meltdowns.

Your little niece is so funny! And you tell the story so brilliantly, I can actually picture it all happen and :rotfl2:

Thanks for all the photos from Disney on Ice - guess your pics will be the closest we will ever get to it. :sad2:

Love the Disney on Ice updates. . .the meltdown stories were so funny! Been there, done that! We saw that show last Nov, and D loved the Small World part the best! He's not a fan of the ride, but put it on ice and he loved it! :lmao:

Poor Abby! Such mean family all around!:rotfl2: I remember Sammy having a throw down, screaming fit once at a magic show in a library. I couldn't get outta that place fast enough!:scared:

Disney on Ice only comes once a year, and it's always fallen on a weekday, and only in Green Bay (a little over a hour away from us) so we've not gone yet, but I'm liking your pictures and maybe can convince John if it comes around again.

I am a huge slacker this time around. I just have had no time to get everything done. And it seems to get easier as the days go by....the slacking part I mean. :lmao:
Claire sleeps with Angus every night, along with the new AG dolls and her old time favorite "Penelope".
.

I'm so with you! I keep trying to blame Disney, that I've not been able to catch up since we've gotten back, but I don't think I can go with that anymore.;)

Kadence's bed looks like a refugee camp for Disney animals!:lmao:

Love the Disney on Ice pictures. We won a day trip to see it several years ago and apart from the bus (awful), we had a great time.
Aren't tired kids so much fun on trips like that?

Kadence's bed looks like a refugee camp for Disney animals!:lmao:

It must be an epidemic! My daughter's bed has the same problem...maybe we should start charging rent?

I'm sorry but Miss Abby is cracking me up with her sayings and fit pitching. (Although I'm sure it wasn't so funny to you guys at the time.) I wish ya'll wouldn't be so mean to her all the time. :lmao:

Seriously, Disney on Ice looks like a whole lot of fun. We never have anything like that come even close to our hometown. All we ever get is monster trucks, tractor pulls and lawnmower racing. Yep, we live in the Deep South!:rotfl:

She is funny and it's more funny because it's not my kid. :rotfl2:
She is such the opposite of Alexis who was an angel for the most part growing up. Abby has a mind of her own, thats for sure and it's throwing my sister for a loop.

We get all those fun exciting things too! heck my husband will travel for those.
:rotfl2:

THe Disney on Ice show looks like it was a lot of fun! I have a feeling I will be pitching an Abby-like fit tonight. I am going to a concert in Connecticut tonight and feel terrible. I am not looking forward to the drive home. Thankfully I am meeting my friends there so they won't have to deal with cranky Katie for longer than the show, and during the show they can easily ignore me lol.

I hope you feel better. Claire woke up coughing, but seems to be better now. I should give her a breathing treatment, but we haven't had much of a spare moment yet today. (I am multitasking right now while waiting on hold on the phone for work.)

We really had a good time and it was nice we had most of the day just just enjoy it.
Meltdowns are part of the fun ...right?

She's so stubborn. She's a little card on the cruise too. There are times where she just throws her body down on the ground for now reason.

I am so glad Claire is past the melt downs, well like the ones that little ones have at least.
Small World was really neatly done. I had wide eyes watching.

Poor Abby! Such mean family all around!:rotfl2: I remember Sammy having a throw down, screaming fit once at a magic show in a library. I couldn't get outta that place fast enough!:scared:

We are so mean, aren't we. :confused3
It seems to come once a year here too and it's usually about 4 nights/days. I think we went on opening night because our weekend was going to be busy.

I'm so with you! I keep trying to blame Disney, that I've not been able to catch up since we've gotten back, but I don't think I can go with that anymore.;)

WE have animals bagged up upstairs in a closet too. I just get to a point where I say no more, like that will ever happen.

It's a fun thing to do. It's in Downtown Toledo, which isn't too hard to get to. But parking isn't always fun. We passed my old work place. Before I left, we had moved to a bigger building and it was for sale forever. It was a warehouse that had autoparts. It's now a restaurant. That was weird to see. I would love to go in and see what it looks like in there now.

I wish Disney on Ice would be coming back to Munich. They miss us out every single time they are on tour. Last time they came to was about 20 years ago. *sigh
The only performances are in Hamburg, Berlin, Oberhausen. Miles away from home.
Maybe I shlould plan a litte vacation:lmao:

All caught up now, and you're still on day one of the actual vacation!

Yummo cheesecake! I have an aunt who goes there, and then goes home and re-creates them. Love parties at her house! I'm glad CMH wasn't bad again! We're heading there in March for our annual FL trip, and hope for a short line. No super early flight time this time, so if the weather's good, we will drive down day of.

Love the bus driver's name, DH and I would've been cracking jokes too! :rotfl2:

I would probably be in the likes on the zebra domes, as anything chocolate mousse is my fave!

Have you seen that Lion Kingmusical is in Detroit soon? Any thoughts on taking Claire? We took DS up to Toronto 2 years ago, and it was FAB!:thumbsup2 We thought about trying it again, but found out it will be in Cleveland in the spring-summer, and would rather make a 1 hour drive than 2, and in better weather.

I can remember going to Disney on ice as a kid and I always loved it, so I love taking Claire to make those memories for her. I am lucky that is comes yearly for the most part so we can see it every so often.

I am going VERY slow here. Each days seems to go so fast and I never get a chance to do much in the way of updates. I am really trying to focus more on getting the other TR doen, but i still have a long way to go on that one too.

I did not know the LK was coming to Detroit. I would love to go, but the price would probably kill me. WE are going to see Mary Poppins in March though. We are excited for that one.

More off topic.

Christmas Eve!
During the day we usually exchange gifts between each other.
Skip came in with a McDonalds bag with chicken nuggets and Claire grabbed it and ran to the table. Inside the bag was another bag with 2 presents. She threw that bag on the table and dug into the nuggets. LOL.

Skip then told us one gift was for her and one for me. I was shocked, he doesn't go buy gifts too often.

Claire opened hers and it was a necklace with a snowhite charm on it.
I opened mine and it was a necklace with a Pluto charm on it. I really liked this gift, mostly because Skip actually thought about something that I would like. He's fianlly listening to all my Disney talk!!!!

We gave him our gifts.
Claire is giving me heck in this picture. I think because we got Skip a box of candy and she wanted some? LOL

We got Claire an American Girl doll. She was so excited about this.

On Christmas Eve we go out to eat with my family. We used to go to the same place every year, a fancy steak place, but it closed now, so the last few years we have tried a few different options. This year we went to a Japanese place. I have never been here, but Claire came with my family while I was on the cruise in Sept and loves it.
We had a great time, great food and I think it was a hit for everyone.

The highlight of course is when the chef throughs food into your mouth.

Oh my gosh, that last picture is fantastic!
I don't know what I liked more, the look on Claire's face, or the little girl behind her. ;)

Hi, I found your trip report! I have been wanting to get an American Doll for my daughter Claire. Did you buy it on the website? I think I am going to book the tea at the Chicago location this summer. That should give me some time to save up!

I surprised my daughters with our resort upgrade. The bus driver asked who was going to CBR? I raised my hand and my oldest was looking at me like I was crazy::yes:: Kids have too little surprises these days!

I am loving your trip report:)

I finally got caught up again! I was about 5 pages behind, so I wanted to comment on some of your posts:

I LOVE the AKL pics, and the gift shop pics! I just love that gift shop. I could go broke in there!!!!

I love Claire's outfit that she's in with the Santa picture. That's too cute!

Also love her birthday cake!

Love the Disney on Ice pictures! I also got us the bucket of popcorn. Ours was $10, with no refills! :rotfl: But I liked the bucket, and DD liked the popcorn!

The Disney On Ice show looks incredible! Thanks for sharing your photos. :)

That is actually my niece (Alexis) in action there and it popped in her mouth and then popped back out. Thats her sister Abby) in the background. She loves this place, but when we are there she has mixed feelings. She wants to watch, but yet she gets nervous about it. LOL

HI!!! I haven't seen you around for awhile, or I am not in the right spot! Glad you made it. I did get the dolls off the site. (we ended up with 2, one from us and one from Santa) In early Dec. the today show had a Jills Deal on them and they were $50 each plus shipping. It include the accessories as well, so each doll retailed at $124 - $129 and I got each for $50. It was such an awesome deal. I got one for my niece Abby too. They only had 2 to choose from, but since we had none, I figured Claire wouldn;t care and when she opened it up she said it was the one she wanted ...and then said "she has a friend and I want to get her too" and luckily Santa delovered on that one!
My niece Alexis has done the tea party a couple of times in Chicago too and just loves it.
It was fun holding that one secret, but I don't think I could do a while trip. I have too big of a mouth! :rotfl:

The gift shop is so nice.
That outift was a steal. I think I bought it last year, or the year before on clearance and it was only like $5, or something really cheap like that. She has gotten 2 Christmas seasons out of it, so that was a good deal.
The cake was good, but warning, don't get blue frosting. It was ALL OVER! I sent cupcakes with the same frosting at school and I bet every parent was cursing me when their kids came home with blue teeth and blue clothes. :lmao:

I didn't think the popcorn buck was so bad when they said free refills. Claire eats a LOT of popcorn. (we always get the bag that gets free refills at the movies), so I knew we could make good. And then my nieces got to share in it too. The popcorn was good too.

The Disney On Ice show looks incredible! Thanks for sharing your photos. :)

Thanks! It was a fun little dose of Disney.

The food photo is too funny. Looks like she caught it!

She did, sort of. It went in her mouth then pooped right back out. We were all laughing so hard. I like that my sister is in the background with her mouth wide open like she might catch it too. :rotfl:

I had left you all so long ago with a look through the AKL gift sho and we were heading out to the front to take a look.......

We sat down for a few minutes out front of the Lodge and Claire was ready for another swim. I told her I would give her 20 minutes and then we were going to go and ask about our room. I was at the point of starting to get a little mad that we hadn’t heard anything yet.

akl179.jpg

We headed out for the swim.

akl180.jpg

The only pictures I took that time were of Claire holding Flat Ben.

After about 20 minutes of swim time I told Claire we HAD to see if our room was ready. We needed to get changed soon to go to the Halloween party.

She reluctantly got out and we made our way to the front desk.

akl181.jpg

It was now 3 PM and when I went to the desk they said yes my room was ready and gave me my number. I was kind of mad that I never received a text and I did mention that fact that it never came and we had been waiting all day, but I got no response.

We headed off to our room, which was very far away from the lobby, but we figured that would be the case since I had booked a standard.

We walked in and Claire immediately had to see our view. Now I warned her that I didn’t book an “animal” view, so we may be looking at a lot of nothing. Well imagine our surprise. We went out to the balcony and this is what we saw.

akl182.jpg

viewfromroom1.jpg

Claire was so excited!

akl183.jpg

This was some sort of holding pen and animals were switched out every so often.

akl184.jpg

We were extremely happy with our view!

akl185.jpg

And you can see by the smile on her face that she was very pleased.

akl186.jpg

akl187.jpg

Back inside the room. As you can see, our luggage was already there, which led me to believe the room had been ready for some time now.

The bathroom door has a mirror on it.

The art on the wall, with a nice glare from the window.

akl195.jpg

This clock is not right. I have no idea why it says that time, but it was actually about 3:15 now. That could be displaying the time a message came though because we had a blinking light and a welcome message at 2 PM. That also irked me, because that meant our room has probably been ready since at least 2. That would’ve worked out perfect for a nice short little nap.
