Price Drop Refund

I just want to give a huge shout out to Dreams Unlimited on taking care of me. We booked our cruise back in May and made the initial required deposit. Since our cruise doesn't leave until the end of February our final payment wasn't due until December 10th. The day we paid our final payment (about a week before the 10th) I decided to look online just to see what the current rates were for the cruise. To my surprise they were much lower now than when we originally booked. I emailed our agent, Beth Czada, and asked if their was any way to get the current rates. To my surprise, I received an email back stating that she had us all taken care of and lucky for us it was before the 10th. She said both her and the Disney Travel Agent were shocked at how low the prices had dropped. For our family of five we ended up getting a $1,024.00 refund. This saved us almost 1/3 of our original price.

Something similar happened to me but with Holland America. A GF and I have 2 staterooms books for 14 day Hawaii cruise and when I went to pay earlier this month, I got an email say that each stateroom was getting a credit of almost $500 off the original fare!!!
That $ will pay for my airfare to San Diego!

Many agencies computer track all their reservations to take advantage of price reductions! Glad you saw this and were able to notify your agent to get it back in your pocket!

Another possible reason to use a TA. They can and do track prices for you. Well some do. And they will get you the lower fares when possible.
Of course some don't.

Am I the only person with bad luck with them? I emailed at the end of Sept my requests for 2014 dates. I was to get an email back with quotes when the cruises were announced. No follow up at all from my TA.
Not impressed. Woulnd't waste my time again!

We had DU book a cruise for us on opening day for Aug 2014. I just checked the prices yesterday, and they have dropped. Do I need to contact my TA about this, or will they do this automatically? Then, what if the prices drop again???

If the prices drop again, your TA can contact DCL again and get a second (or 22nd) refund).

OP had to contact her TA herself, so it looks like they may not track all reservations. I'd call my agent ASAP--rates can and do go back up.

That's why I like using a travel agency that has an 800 number and is open 7-days a week.
