WCC Huge disappointment

I don't understand the logic behind this menu change. It sounds like a disaster. We were considering going there in January, but I think we might have to rethink that now

Well, I have to tell you,I'm glad I canceled after the menu change. I was really looking forward to the OLD menu. & the dessert does not sound good @ all.:crazy2:

I don't understand the logic of "we went to the skillet to make people get out faster so resort guests could get in." Why not leave a couple spots open for resort guests instead of changing the whole menu??????? Not everyone wants the skillet!!!!!

Are they going to do this at 'Ohana and Kona Cafe too? Have you ever tried to get in there??? It is the same problem. This isn't looking good for other restaurants.

Well, Ohana is basically that way already - the food isn't cooked to order, it is continuously prepared and served. And I don't think they could do that to Kona because that would leave the Polynesian without any traditional, cooked to order table service dining and I don't believe that would go over well in a deluxe-level resort.

People book WCC for the gimmick which puts it in the same realm as the character restaurants - food is secondary to the experience and is an easy target for cutbacks. Gimmick restaurants seldom have great food even in the real world, and that is even more true of gimmick restaurants at Disney World.

Because holding tables is something a real deluxe hotel chain does not Disney. :cool1:

This is really just an excuse to run more guests through. Disney is trying to hide behind "someone asked for it" :lmao:

Bumping this up to see if anyone else could chime in since it's been a couple of months.

We are going in late January and have reservations at WCC based on the old menu, which sounded delish to us. We ate at Trails End in July and liked it, but was really hoping for WCC.

We just stayed 6 days there and did not eat at WCC the entire time. The buffet meal is too expensive and if I spend that kind of money, I will eat elsewhere. If they had offfered a la carte at evenings, we probably would have eaten there.

WE have had both lunch and dinner there and definitely pick lunch over dinner. The last time we went we had sandwiches and if I remember I had the chicken sandwich and it was good. We did not enjoy the dinner skillet at all.

WCC used to be good. This makes me sad. We would go out of our way to travel there and dine there. Our last trip the meal wasn't very good but now with he new menu we will be eating elsewhere.

With the changes to the dinner menu, they now have plenty of room to accommodate anyone that wants to walk up. The restaurant has had less and less reservations since the menu has changed. People that work there have told me the restaurant was more dead this week around Christmas than ever.

This new menu idea isn't working out so well. Try again, Disney.

Its fine for breakfast since that is still ala cart. dh really liked his bananna waffel and the kids were happy. It is generally your standard disney breakfast fair and i prefer kona for the food but i didn't warn dh about the antics before we went there and he really enjoyed that aspect.

Seems like they are on a roll right now; WCC is now a must avoid with the new change, LeCellier is no longer the impossible ADR to get since going signature and making little to no changes to the menu and dining room, and Disneys new website is an absolute joke right now. :confused3

I am really glad they added fish to the family style dinner. We don't eat a lot of red meat, so now we get to have chicken and fish, and I did like the country sausage as well. I love the mashed potatoes. Our server asked us which desserts we wanted, and we had the cake and apple thing, not the cheesecake (she said it tasted like key lime cheesecake and she said that it was the best dessert - but we don't really like cheesecake...).

We used to go to WCC before the menu change, and we've just gone that one time after. Overall, it seems a lot the same, some variations with the a la carte offerings for dinner and no skillets during lunch may be causing people more troubles. It seemed to be really pricey, $75 for 2 for dinner, we've had some pretty decent meals for less than that with left overs.

That's what it is. Also incorporating a price hike for dinner. Plus the fact that it's a "gimmick" restaurant (as another poster pointed out).

And yes, two people eating off one skillet would be charged for two skillets on the old menu. It was a per person charge, not a per skillet charge. The new dinner menu does make that more obvious.

if two people order an all you can eat platter- you will get charged for two whether you ask for seconds, thirds, etc,,,

DH and I were there early November for dinner. While not terrible, not a place where I would make it a must do for ADRs. The food was adequate but would rather go to Trail's End for the same food and less the price.

We were in the back by the library which was quiet (we did not ask for back there) and our server was really nice but overall - not impressed with the new menu.

My DH and I are... Umm... were big WCC fans. We were really looking forward to it during our stay at WL last month. Until we saw the menu!

We walked up, looked at the posted menu, and then cancelled our reservation. The manager came out and I explained how incredibly disappointed I was in the menu, shared that I had heard people on the Disboards talking about the awful changes but that I hadn't looked at a menu until just then... So they know it's a problem but I think they need to hear about it over and over because otherwise its just one person!

I want my old WCC back!
