If staying at a resort and your return flight leaves at 5, what happens?

Do we have to be at a certain point at the resort by a certain time to be taken back to the airport?


We are staying at the Pop and plan on getting up early our last day, leaving all our suitcases with the front desk and hitting AK that opens at 8 AM the day we leave, We figured we would stay there till 12 or 1 and then head back to Pop for our return bus trip to the airport.

How does this all work. Where do we leave our stuff, what time do we have to be at the resort for our 5:00 flight, who takes us, etc...

I've had similarly timed flights leaving WDW, and it's my favorite thing to do now, since you can enjoy some of the last day!

I believe the day before you leave, you will be given a pick up time for Magical Express. It's usually about 3 hours before your flight, if I remember correctly. So you will need to be at the pick up point at about 2:00.

You will be able to leave all your luggage at the desk until you are ready to wait for the bus.

My family usually makes this a pool/hang at the resort day...last time we were at the Beach Club, so the pool was a big deal to DD!

If you are taking the Magical Express then it will pick you up outside the resort lobby about three hours before your flight time. You can either check in your luggage at the resort, so that you don't see it again until your flight lands, or you can have them hold it until you pick it up to carry it on the airplane.

if you are using magical express, make sure you call reservations with your flight information.

the day before you leave they will leave a magical express ticket with the time you will be picked up on your door knob. ME picks up approximately 3 hours before your flight. Keep this ticket you'll need it when ME picks you up.

depending on the airline and if you are checking luggage you can check your luggage in in the morning at the resort with airline check in before you go to AK. if you are doing carry on leave your luggage with the luggage room people. (they give you a ticket to reclaim)

when you get back to POP claim your luggage(if you didn't check in with airline luggage check in) and then hop on the ME.

I've never stayed at POP so can't give the specifics as to where luggage/airline check in is located.

I would plan on being back at Pop by 1:15pm. Your Magical Express bus will probably arrive around 1:45-1:50 for a 2pm departure. It can take a lot of time to get your carry-on stuff from bell services.Longer than you might think. I would leave AK by noon. Try and check-in and take care of your airline checked luggage before you go to the parks so you don't have to worry about it when you get back.
