Sister Wives

I thought that was what her sister wives were for, lol. So she's already a fifth woman Cody has to support.

Don't you mean the fifth woman that Janelle has to support?
I'm pretty certain that she's the only one that works.

I did see they sold out of some ornament on their site (and later added more), but who knows how many they started with. I guess someone must be buying though.

They also are a part of a mutli level marketing business. Cody briefly mentioned in one episode how he got the car from that, so I would guess that it's bringing a decent amount of money too.

Have I missed something or am I imagining that I don't see Robin's kids from her first marriage?

My guess is that Robin's sister is taking care of keeping the kids off camera. I'm guessing Robin's ex may still have some say about whether the kids are on camera. He may have played that card.

I thought I read that they went back to live with their father?

I don't know if this is correct (and I did look at the property appraiser site to see if I could verify the info, but am not sure where you find it), but on another board I read "that deeds have been recorded for Christine and Janelle for $443,000 each, and Robyn for $445,000".

No listing for Meri there yet, but I'm sure her wet bar will add lots of $$$ so hers will be the most expensive LOL.

When they signed the papers for these homes I hope they realized that a TLC show - and the income from it - does not last forever. Maybe their jewelry line sales will kick in soon. ;)

Mariah will likely be leaving soon and then it will be just Meri in a five bedroom house. Mixing up virgin drinks in her wet bar while she spends many nights alone. Makes no sense.

You forgot opening and closing her Fancy French Doors.

I don't know what's gotten into her, but her demands about the house seem so .... out of character?? for her.

And yes, she did not choose to only have one child, but the fact of the matter is - that's all she has. Why she needs 5 bedrooms, when even Jenelle said SHE didn't need five bedrooms, and she's got enough kids to fill them, is beyond me.

dh and I only have one child. I have fertility issues and havent been able to have any more kids :( We have a 3 bedroom home. My 3rd room is a craftroom/iron room/office. I'd love to have 1-2 more rooms .

When dd14 moves out it will still be her room or a room for the grand kids

I just wonder how in the heck they got financed for those houses? :confused3 We just refinanced our 250,000 home and had a heck of a time because apparently we don't make enough to afford it even though we've been paying for it for 4 years and have never even been late on a payment.

If they keep going like they are we will all get a front row seat for the viewing of sister wive the bankruptcy. I have to agree that meri sure is getting demanding it's a real put off to watch her. The only one that i really like is christine

They probably paid cash for the houses. I'm sure all of that nail biting waiting for approval was BS.

I live in a three bedroom too with the third room used as an office. Whenever my daughter moves out, her room will become the guest room. I do think 5 bedrooms though is pretty excessive. I wouldn't want to have to clean or furnish two rooms I don't and wouldn't use. Knowing my husband, he'd start filling them up with who knows what. :crazy2:

Yeah, for the second time ::yes::

Janelle's bankruptcy:

Kody and Meri's bankruptcy:

Christine's bankruptcy:

Not sure about a Robyn bankruptcy (yet), but in her 2008 divorce Robyn was awarded her share of the debt = $32,400.00 (and nearly $1000.00 of that was to Victoria's Secret.) Wonder how that went poof when they "fixed" her credit to buy her McMansion.

They just keep on making poor financial decisions....

Knowing my husband, he'd start filling them up with who knows what. :crazy2:

Just think, if you lived like Kody, it would be more kids or another wife. Ugh

What ever happened to their house in Utah? It seems like they still "own" it but that would mean another mortgage to pay.

Also, I thought he was only legally married to Meri so how do Janelle & Christine use Brown as their legal name on their bankrupcy filings?

I think (?) that family is using (or at least watching over) their Utah house. Hopefully they are at least getting some rent out of it!

As for last names, anyone over 18 can get a legal name change. You can change it to whatever you want:) you have to pay the legal fees however, when you get married you don't:)

Yes...if you were a Friends watcher think back to when Phoebe was changing her last name after getting married but didn't want to take her husbands last name so "she briefly becomes "Princess Consuela Bananahammock" but requests that the friends call her "Valerie". To show her how ridiculous it sounds, Mike suggests changing his name to "Crap Bag". Phoebe relents but wants to keep the name "Bananahammock" until learning that it is slang for a Speedo. She changes her name to Phoebe Buffay-Hannigan." from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoebe_Buffay

Had she not gotten married she could have chosen to change her name to Princess Consuela Bananahammock as well. :wave2:

I love how Christine listed herself as single and her "companion" supplied $1200 a month to the household. She also got food stamps until 2010 when she filed for bankruptcy.

Scamming the welfare system is common in "PLYG" families. They really are not self-supporting. This family is not exception, until the show money arrived.

Meri and Kody files in 2006.

Wow, those bankruptcy papers were interesting! I guess when Kody and Meri filed, they included Kody's other kids? Since they only actually have one together. And it was interesting that until two years ago Christine was getting food stamps.

Wonder where they would be today without the show, given their financial situation there. And what will happen to them when it ends.

I wonder if they even plan it deliberately: "we'll put everything on Janelle's credit cards, then let her go bankrupt" so that all those debts are effectively cancelled. Then while Janelle builds her credit back up, they put everything on Meri's credit cards, and again go bankrupt. Debts cancelled. But no problem, now they can put things on Christine's credit cards. By the time she goes bankrupt, Janelle will be able to have a credit card again and they can start the cycle over.

TP

Wow, this information is really disappointing. I'm all for people living their lives how they want to but if they are making terrible financial decisions and living off of tax payers, :crazy2:.

Wasn't Merri going to school during the first season, what was that for? I don't understand why these women can't get jobs, I'd love to be able to stay home with my kid too (when he was little) but then I COULDN'T PAY THE BILLS, so I've worked full time his entire life.
