and I have to say, it is probably my least favorite out of all of the moderate resorts. Sorry CBR lovers!:guilty:

The rooms were very nice and the grounds beautiful. However, the bus ride around the resort seems so long! Too many stops for me. And in order to use our cell phones we had to leave the room and head out to the beach. Kind of a pain. We had 4 adults on this trip and not a single one of us could use their phone in their room.

I also wasn't thrilled by the roaches that were in the fridge cabinet. To be fair, I know it is Florida and they are impossible to keep away. And once I called maintenance and reported them they took care of the problem. However, it is still icky.

Another thing is I don't like is the whole set up with the Custom House. On check out day they came to pick up our bags, but left us to either walk or catch a bus back to the Custom House. No fun little golf cart ride! Why not? The biggest resort and it is the only one that leaves you to fend for yourself. Seems odd.

Nothing hugely wrong with CBR. I just know it is not the resort for me. At least I can say I've tried all the moderates now. Back to CSR for our next trip.

Oh my laaaaaaaaaawd!!! CBR is definitely our least favorite WDW resort and that was without roaches!!! That would have put me over the edge!!! :crazy2:

Hope you enjoy your next resort. :flower3:

Roaches!?!?! I would have been OUT of there (or anywhere else) if I found roaches.

Yuck! :scared1:

Double yuck!! :scared1: :scared1:

They are palmetto bugs and indigenous to the South. They are not the dirty cockroach. They are HUGE and ugly as hell though

CBR is my least favorite resort. Last year we did a split stay with POP and CBR and after our first night at CBR I wished we were back at POP. I agree its just too spread out for my liking.

We're just back from CBR also, and I loved the resort. No bugs, thank goodness, our room was pristine! No problem with cell coverage (AT&T). Now the buses, well the service was very good, but there are a lot of stops. I don't like the distance for Custom House either. The whole setup is supposed to set a mood, get you relaxed, which is really hard for a lot of people today, for lots of reasons. Most people want everything quickly, including me! Years ago they did bring you to your room and back to Custom House in a golf cart. It was a lot more fun. I'm not sure when they stopped doing that, if I recall correctly, its been several years. To be fair, they don't leave you to fend for yourself totally, there is the internal resort shuttle bus that goes to Custom House; we used it to get to there with our luggage. I figured why tip for our bags when we needed to get there to do our airline check-in anyway. It sure would be more fun if the internal shuttle bus was smaller quieter and themed to the resort!

I like all of the moderates. We stayed at CBR this time as we got a great rate. Hope your next vacation at CSR is wonderful!

I'm so sorry you didn't like the resort. I hope the rest of the trip was much more magical for you. Your complaints are significant ones, and would make anyone think twice.

Especially the bugs- I don't care what you call them- I don't want any kind of bugs in my room. I would have been outta that room squealing like a little girl if it was me!
I guess we're lucky (??) that we don't use our phones except in an emergency when we're on vacation, so that wouldn't bother me too much- but how was the wi-fi inside the rooms? We do tend to spend a while emailing family before bed each night.

The Custom House thing is a bit of a PITA, especially if you need to go over there during the week. Our last stay there required at least half a dozen visits to the CH (don't ask), and I'm really glad that we had our car and didn't have to depend on the internal bus.

We don't mind the bus stops- on our stays they've averaged about 10 min. or so to make the rounds. But I know that others don't like it, and heaven knows we've all seen enough bus threads to know that every resort has complaints about the bus service at one time or another- and lots of folks who will only travel by car (their own or rental).

But you summed it up well- everyone has their favourite resorts, and this one obviously isn't yours. And that's OK- wouldn't it be awful if everyone thought CSR was their favourite resort and were all trying to stay there? :scared1: Despite everything, CBR is still one of our favourite places to stay- the theming of the place, the landscaping, and the rooms (bug free so far) have outweighed any of the negatives for us.

I used to love CBR and have stayed there multiple times, but after the last trip, I am no longer a fan. Hated the food court! The cms were rude, the supervisors were diciplining the staff in front of the guests and some did not even know their menu! I'll stick with POR or Pop.

Nope, they were not palmetto bugs. I have seen those before, as we have friends that live in Florida. Those things are huge, and the ones in my room were not. Definitely the garden variety roach. After I called down to let them know about the bugs they said they would take care of them. And I did not see them again after that, so I'm hopeful they really did something, and it wasn't just a coincidence.

I didn't like CBR either when we went a few years ago. I think it was that our room was so far from everything and also it was cold and overcast and it just didn't feel like a Christmasy resort. It would probably be better in the warmer months. We had a car but it just seemed so weird to have to drive to the food court every morning to eat breakfast. It was like we weren't at a resort but were driving to a restaurant.

Ok.. that is an ICK

We've stayed here twice and twice we had roaches problems. I have stayed at other resorts and never had any roach issues.

When I called to inform them about my unwanted extra roommates, they asked me if I was on the ground floor. I took that to mean that they have more of an issue with the roaches in the ground floor rooms.

But yeah, I've stayed at 9 different WDW resorts, and this is the first time (and hopefully the last) I have roach problems.

We've stayed there 3 times and never had roaches. We had icky worms at ASMo though. That does wreck a time at a resort.

We have stayed several times at CBR, I was there in Oct, with my gal pals for F&W, we got a great rate. I will be taking my mom at the end of jan. for her 70th birthday another great rate. Our fav is Poly, but cost wise we only do that if the discount is really really good, our favorite mod is POFQ.

DH and I both like the island feeling, and don't really mind the walking, and we always have a car so we can drive if we don't want to ride the bus.

As far as the unwanted guest, all I can say is welcome to FL.. :rotfl2: Growing up there it just a fact of life, with the plants that they have growing are some of their favorite's to live in.

I have to agree about the food court, If you can get waited on the CM's seem to have a bit of a "tude" about them. We only used grab and go when I was there in Oct. But we did try for quick lunch and gave up when my friend ask about whether they use peanut oil or not? Never did get a answer.

When our DD's where younger they loved CBR, the pool in really well themed, and they do have a nice hot tub.

Overall, everyone has a resort that they favor, at least now you know and can mark this one off your list.

Oh man, sorry you had a bad time, but I LOVE this resort! Never saw a roach, the bellhop came for my luggage and drove me to Custom House for departure and my room was perfect. There are alot of bus stops, but I really didn't mind as I spent the time talking with other passengers, so it was pleasant. I can see how one would be disappointed with the layout as it is huge, but I was in Aruba section and I had no problem getting to the food court, pools and laundry room. I love this resort and plan on staying there again (as soon as I save the $$$). lol.:cool1:

We stayed at CBR for the first time last Jan. and loved it. I pray there were no bugs, but we were not at the room long enough to notice LOL! We stayed at the Jamaica building and the walk was not to bad :) Everyone has their favorites :)

I have to agree that CBR is my least favorite resort I have stayed at. While its an absolutely beautiful resort, it just didn't have the right feel for me and my family! It wasn't the buses or that the resort was huge, it just wasn't fit for our family. Our room was a little bit of a problem too. The headboard was broken and the fridge was warm and stinky. We really didn't like that the customs house was so far away too. It was just all not our thing! :)

OP - I see you are a CSR fan. Considering CSR can be a long walk to the main building with multiple bus stops like CBR, do you just find it to be a better set up at CSR? We are considering CSR for our next trip. Previously, we stayed at POR and didn't find the walking to be too bad since you can cut across the river by the bridge. The big lake at CSR has us concerned.

I do find the set up at CSR better. I really disliked CBR having the Custom House be separate from the rest of the resort. And CSR is a bit smaller than CBR. CBR has 7 bus stops to CSR's 4. If you get on at the first stop that gives you half as many stops to sit thru.
