Well this being Bonfire Night, I had booked an evening ADR at the Rose and Crown to catch some fireworks (Illuminations) and to celebrate this date in the UK. We decided to change our plans for the day, as we had been told that the weather was likely to be colder later that week, so we headed off for Blizzard Beach.

Blizzard Beach

We drove to Blizzard Beach and got there for the opening. It wasn't the hottest of days but it was warm enough to be in a water park iykwim. We hired some towels ($10) and secured some loungers and then went to explore. Apologies as I did not take any photos on this day.

None of us was brave enough to go on the big one (Summit Plummet?) but we tried most other things. We all enjoyed the lazy river and the girls loved the toboggan style ride. We had a blast as my water babies were in their element. I'm not as inclined to get wet, but threw myself into it as we were on holiday lol. We had some sort of nondescript burger lunch and decided to head back at around 3pm.

On our return, we got changed and ready for an evening at Epcot.

Rose and Crown

We returned to Epcot early evening and had a wander around. The kids wanted to go on the ride simulator and I took Emilia to a 3D weather experience that looked at Tornadoes. I really liked this.

Emilia enjoyed jumping on the glittery pavement and we took our time to take in the sights.

Emilia was fast asleep when it came for our ADR at the Rose and Crown. I decided that it would be a 'cocktail' evening and had the Magic Star (?)

We had managed to get a table outside and I was hopeful that we would have a good view of Illuminations. The food was really good. I had the veggie shepherd's pie wich was good. Kev had the Surf n Turf; he said the steak was excellent. Emilia slept throughout the meal!

Just as Illuminations was about to start, a family came into the restaurant and occupied the table in front of us. One of their party stood in front of us, totally obscuring our view. Kev had gone to the loo, and this man kept eyeing up his chair. I honestly believe he was thinking of sitting at our table! He finally moved to another empty table.

We watched Illuminations but would not recommend watching from the Rose and Crown. The canopy over us obscured our view of the fireworks and the family who occupied the vacant table simply wandered out after the show had finished - they hadn't even ordered so much as a drink! The servers just passed them by without a word :( I really enjoyed the Rose and Crown and would return, but not for Illuminations.

Once we had finished, Emilia started to wake up and immediately started to gag. I whisked her outside. It seemed that the smell of the place made her feel sick.:confused3

We had a bit of a rest in the square behind the UK and then headed back home.

I was looking forward to a day at DHS the next day and riding my favourite there - Tower of Terror!

Rude people but they may have eaten inside and just come out for the fireworks.

Never tried R&C for food, shame your view was obstructed.

Poor Emilia - hope she didn't get poorly. Did you like IllumiNations?
