You can't always get what you want, but if you try

In case you missed it, runDisney announced a 10k the day before the Disneyland half and has added a 2-day event called the Dumbo Double Dare (like the Goofy, only shorter). Anyone else happy dancing about this?? I am sooooo excited. I was debating about going to CA to get a Coast to Coast this year, but this has sealed the deal. Now I really have to start saving some money!!

I'm so excited for this! I have to figure out how to make this work. I thought $175 was a lot for a half and now I'm considering $280 for a 10k and a half!

Ohhhhh snap.

If you look at the schedule, it actually looks possible to run the 5k, 10k, and half marathon... Innnnnnteresting.

So in theory, one could end up with 5 medals for the weekend? The 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon, Dumbo Double and Coast to Coast? Sounds fun!!!!

My immediate dilemma is that I have already committed to running the 5k with my young daughters. I want to do that, but am not sure I can get back to the start line in time for the 10k. I may have to run the first 2/3 with them and then leave them with my wife in order to make the 10k start. My youngest just did a 2-miler in 30 minutes, so we are really close to a 45 min 5k, which is exactly the difference in the two start times.

I really would like to do this !!!! I wonder what the time would be since I our little mouseketeer just loves running in the kids race. And we can't miss the kids race.

5:30 for the 5k, 6:15 for the 10k. But, historically, the end of the 5k has not been all that close to the start of the half, which is where I would assume they will start the 10k.

I am already trying to price out how much this would cost me...I would probably have to forego several other races to make it happen in my yearly race budget...hmmm....

I'm really excited about this as well. I was already planning on running the Disneyland Half and the Wine & Dine to get my Coast to Coast medal. Now I'm going to have to ramp up the training for the Dumbo Double Dare! I can't wait!

I am so excited for this!!

I was hemming and hawing about gettnig my C2C this year but the Dumbo Double Dare is definitely something I cannot miss. I will be skipping Tower of Terror this year to do it, but I'm willing to make the sacrifice as I don't think I'll ever be able to do Goofy!

I think it is a great idea! I will already have my C2C with the Tinker Bell, but it would be awesome to get four medals that weekend. Although it is pricey, everything at Disney is. I really wish you could use gift cards or Disney Rewards points for registration fees.

I was initially planing on doing the DL half, then the Inaugural Nike Woman's Half in D.C. came up and I figured I could get a C2C any year. Now I am thinking I need to try to do this one...

I want to know: if you do Goofy and the Dumbo in the same year, do you get to call yourself a A Big Goof? :rotfl2:

I'm with you. I was surprised at the increased cost for the 1/2 marathon over last year, knowing it will still sell out. I don't think I have Goofy in me, but this is a goal I can plan for. Fun!!!

Is the C2C the same every year? I already got mine this year, but thinking I need to do this race now to....in addition to marathon weekend.

We were planning to go to DL for C2C anyway, but a 10k too! Sweet!!!:cool1: 10k is really my favorite distance, and since DH and DD will probably do the 5k and I have to be up that early anyway......

More medals!!! Hurray!:cheer2:

...It would be cool if Disney offered a special C2C for those doing both the Goofy and the Dumbo. But that might be too much to ask for....
quote taken from the Marathon weekend thread but, O. M. G. !!! That would be way too difficult for me to turn away.

I'm in! I wish the 5k was about 15 mins ealier or they'd show course maps so we could judge whether or not we could get to the 10k quick enough after the 5k, but that's alright. I'll just monitor the 5k reg. So much for trying to save race $ next year for NYC Marathon, if they ever figure out what they're doing next year!

Now if we could get a mini TOT race out here too...

So far, they have only changed it once. The 2010 C2C had the year dangling from the bottom of the medal. Now, it is just incorporated into the ribbon. So, yes, they do look the same, but I just love the partners statue. :goodvibes

Well crap!! I really want to do this but DL sells out quickly and I doubt I will have enough $$ to pay for it at that time. Especially since I tend to drop $$ at the WDW marathon weekend expo. GRRR!

Must figure out way to do this and have another vacation.....
