Ink tag left on gift from DLRP....!

DD2 chose a sailor outfit with hat for her Duffy (the white nautical outfit). Got it home and discovered the CM has left the ink security tag on it :headache:. DD1's had been removed :rolleyes1.

I rang my local (ish) Disney Store and they weren't much help - said they probably wouldn't be able to take it off as they don't use that type of tag. So, I emailed DLRP to ask what they could do. Reply was pay to send it back (they will only pay for normal post once I have posted to them), with a written note and receipt saying what has happened, they will de-tag and send back to me (normal post).

To be honest DD2 was really upset about it (esp as DD1's was fine!) and I'm not really happy to send it back over to France normal post so I asked if they would reimburse recorded but they won't! :confused3 Fine, I can send out of my own pocket but I'm not happy to receive it back normal post at this time of year because of a) amount of mail b)speed of mail and c) because of both of those things, chances of it being mislaid.

I have asked if I can take a photo to show item and scan in receipt, they can then send me out a new hat. I will then send old one back once in receipt, but they won't. At least this way I have one hat should another go missing!

Seems a bit inflexible considering it was their staff who made the error!

Anyone know any high street stores who use the Colourtag Multi ink tags where I could maybe go in and ask if they would remove? I have the receipt but tbh it's fairly useless outside DLRP as it's in French.

Just thought I'd ask as I'm sure I've read this happening before to someone on here....

When I worked in Boots we used to have those tagsd on some baby clothes.

This was 10 years ago though (OMG how old am I??!?!)

How annoying for you. :( And your poor DD.

I'd probably just try every one of my high street shops, lol.

We had this happen a few years back, my dad got it off with wire cutters. It is metal underneath the tag I sent something back in the summer and had no problem. They told me to post it and they would reimburse the cost providing the receipt for postage was in the package, they didn't say it had to be normal postage

Thanks for the replies. Torsie, I might try T K Maxx next week - once the snow (hopefully!) melts and I can get out and about - the roads are lethal here right now.

Nikki - they told me in the email that they wouldn't pay for any sort of registered post - just normal post (I did think it was a bit odd as I hadn't even mentioned post at this point). I am happy to post registered out of my own pocket, it is the returning that worries me. This time of year is notorious for slow mail/mail going missing. In addition, how long am I going to wait for it to be returned to us!?

I read all these dodgy sites about freezing the ink / using wire cutters but knowing our luck the vial will break and it will be everywhere! :sad2: From what I gather, it is really, really difficult to get off - for obvious reasons.

Anyone else going soon - lesson to be learned, check your clothing items for tags before you leave. The CM just put it in a carrier bag and I packed it away in the suitcase like that, didn't think to check it .

Oh that's so annoying. I hope you get it sorted. I agree with the postage it's awful any time of year but especially at the moment x

It was me! They left the tags on our Stitch and Angel plushes. I sent them pictures of them and scanned the receipts and they just sent new ones but to be fair I had ranted at them in my email (frayed nerves and upset kids).
I didnt ask me to send back the old ones either. Try emailing again and you may get someone more lenient?

Thanks Kizz, but I already tried that as I said in my first message . When they came up with their ridiculous suggestion, I asked them if I could email a photo of hat with alarm on and scan in receipt. They could then send me a new hat (minus alarm!) and I offered to then send them the alarmed hat back. Nope - they can't do that apparently!!!

I am really not happy to send it out at this time of year. Already I am finding that Amazon parcels are taking an age to arrive and Mum is still searching for one of hers which was sent RM 10 days ago :scared1:. The normal post is just not reliable enough to risk me sending it and ending up with nothing at the end of it.

I'll email again and in the meantime start searching the local shops when I am out and about. I have never seen a tag like it before though (but then I don't really examine these things!). The Disney Store told me it depends on the size of the bullet thing at the back on whether they can open it :confused3.

How annoying. If I were you I'd persist and send a new email (not a reply to the one you've received) attaching photos of the tag and receipt and lay it on a bit thick about the snow stopping you getting to the post office and how upset your DD is ..... with a bit of luck you might get a different CM dealing with it.

Also, why don't you post a photo of the tag on here - there is a TK Maxx near me so I can then go and check out their tags.

Thats what I meant too Elaine, thanks for explaining it better (mummy brain). And do get really narked when you're sending it, they wont be so quick to pawn you off.

Its worth a try :)

Sorry, I didn't back to this. I went back once again to DLRP and tbh I have given up on them - I can't understand how I need to run around when it is their staff error.

So, when I saw that DS are now stocking Duffy, I decided to give my not so local DS a call again. I was hoping they might let me swap the hat from one of theirs in the shop (they don't have to obviously as it's not their error or stock!).

Rang this am, explained I had already rung. Told they can't take it off, told to try other stores (have now tried 6 local shops, no one can help as it appears they are European ink tags and are smaller than UK ones :confused3). Not willing to post at this time of year etc. The girl spoke to the DS Manager and they said to bring in the receipt & hat and they will see what they can do. The manager said they think they can get the tag off after all.... I am kind of hoping if they try and can't that they might just swap.

What a faff - honestly I really wonder about DLRP's customer service - rubbish they are :furious:.

Hoping to go in next Wednesday (as it's a bit of a trek) so will update once I have been. Fingers crossed for me!

I really hope you get it sorted soon. I would go in an tell them it is Christmas present x

Oh dear, the mods just posted the link to this conversation as this has just happened to me, I have just unpacked hubby's gift to find the tag still attached.....and no receipt either, as I was convinced he would find out what I had bought...more fool me

sigh

can't post a link, but there are vids on youtube showing how to remove the tags, funnily enough the first vid is a Disney hat ...lol

I hope you managed to get sorted with your tag.

Yes, the original CM I spoke to on the telephone said they get a fair few people appearing with DLRP items which have tags on asking for them to be removed!

Actually, after all the faffing about, DH watched a few dodgy youtube videos and got the tag off at the weekend! Fortunately without any of the ink being broken/spilled :cheer2:. I had thought about letting DD2 play with the hat with the tag on but I was worried she would somehow break the ink vial (as it is glass) and it would be all over. She was SO pleased when we gave her the hat for Duffy :goodvibes.
