Could someone tell me if they have Dr. Pepper on the ships? I'm a DP fiend and really can't drink Coke. I've never been on DCL and I know Princess Cruises does not offer Dr.Pepper, so just wondering what DCL offers.
Thank you.

Well, they're not a Coke product, so it's not available at the drink station. Don't know if they have it in the bars, but, if they do, you'll have to pay for it.

You can bring it onboard with you, if you wish. Just bring it in your carryon.

My husband is also a Dr. Pepper fiend, and I can confirm that, no, it was not available on the Fantasy on 11/24. Poor man, last one he had was at the Hyatt at the airport on 11/23, and then again at the airport in 12/1.

We hauled four 24-packs onto the Fantasy in Oct. Yes, for a week-long cruise. We used a collapsible luggage cart and put the Dr. Pepper in a large garbage bag. (DCL requests that it's covered, almost like concealing it in a plain brown wrapper?)

Another passenger saw us loading the cart and mentioned seeing someone else hauling a bunch of Dr. Pepper onboard, and asked why we were doing it. um, because it isn't available on board? hullo?

On cruises where we haven't hauled our own, we've had to go "forage" for it in port, including Puerto Vallarta (where DH returned late and almost missed the ship), and two "emergency" trips when we were in port in Hawaii.

there are worse addictions.

BTW, Disney no longer allows coolers, so we kept the DP in the fridge and the room steward filled our ice bucket regularly.

DW and I are Pepsi drinkers. Before we got to the port we did a Walmart stop. We had a 24 pack and a 12 pack. When we dropped off our luggage the porter checked our soda. I was surprised and questioned it and he said not to worry he does it all the time. They both made it to our stateroom in the same shape as we left it. So nice we did not have to drag it around with us.

While it was "nice" that he did that, it's against DCLs specific request. The porters do not work for DCL and they are not going to jeporadize a nice fat tip by not taking everything from you for checking through.

The luggage isn't handled in a very gentle manner, and I wouldn't want to be reseponsible for damaging someone else's (much less mine) stuff because my drinks went through with the checked bags.

You are 100% right....but they did say that they do it all the time. And the $5.00 tip to me is really not that much. In hindsight--I should have carried it.

We were on the Magic Dec 1 and the porter was down right insistant that he take my carryon of drinks. I refused because we had bottles and cans. I asked him what if a bottle broke and ruined someones stuff. He seemed to think I was a bit nuts but let me keep my bag after I flat out refused to give it to him.

Maybe DCL needs to have a talk with the porters.

Also depends on where the ship is. PC differs from Galveston which differs from LA etc I doubt any 2 ports have the same enforcement policy when it comes to porters. The 1 thing I did notice though ( slightly ot) the new term at port Canaveral uses luggage carts and tractors exactly like the airport uses for planes. Probably cuts down tremendously on luggage damage.

Is that Cruise Terminal 6?

How are their drinks at the soda fountain? Are they diluted down or do they actually taste like Coke? I know at some restaurants when you get your drink, it doesn't taste like it should because they don't put enough of the syrup in it. Just wondering how DCL rates?

Thanks

It tastes like Coke to me. So I'd say they do a good job of mixing.

Images are blocked here at work, so I'm not able to see what I'm assuming is a picture of the drink station that Princess Shmoo was nice enough to post. Haven't been on the Magic since '08 -- Can anyone tell me if they have Coke Zero at the drink station? And/or Sprite Zero? Thanks! :flower3:
