January 2013 car rental

No problem at all! What time do you arrive/depart? What size do you need?

I checked Alamo using noon pick up and noon return. Using the entertainment code and a free day coupon, a compact is $367. Using a double upgrade coupon will get you a standard (up from the compact) for $434. With the $25 off coupon, a standard suv (the coupon's for convertible, suv, or minivan) is $555.

Let me know your specifics and I can get you a better answer. Or if you'd like me to check another company.

Thank you for doing this for me. That's still a ton of money. We're now considering skipping the rental and riding Disney's Magical Express.

Are you using any codes?

I tried a couple of different ones (AP, DVC, Visa), but I think the Insider code 7015135 was the best (the same price with the AP code). The DVC and Visa were slightly less. Used the $30 coupon AD2338FDF

Update, I just checked minutes ago and now my 10 day rental at Alamo (standard) is down to $186.60 total. (National is still stuck in the $500s)

What is the DVC code?? We are DVC but I wasn't aware of any discounts.
Thanks!

What is that $30 coupon from? I used it and it took it but I want to make sure I'm entitled to it.

Thanks!

Looks like it's a visa coupon. (I googled it and saw it mentioned in several places).

My Alamo res for 10th - 15th just dropped a bit more.
Insiders and the $30 coupon - full size at $227. down from midsize at $245.

I still have my fullsize that I managed to snag from Alamo for 8 days under $200 after all fee's. Looking at all of these rates I guess I should consider myself darn lucky. I haven't seen anything come close to it checking their rates ever since then. This is Jan 26 - Feb 4th.

Anyone who has a Costco membership should check Alamo prices using the costco code. With the costco code (but through the Alamo website not throough the Costco site) and the $30 coupon I got a a premium car from Jan 19 7pm- Jan 26th 10PM for $183.85 including taxes! Same dates for a minivan was $320 (also pretty good I think).

Looks like insiders code was about the same pricing as the Costco code for a premium, not sure what it is about the premiums that makes them want to rent them so cheap!

I just plugged in Noon to Noon from Jan 19 -23rd on the costco site and got $100 for a compact to $120 for a standard (fullsize at MCO since no standrad aisle) inc taxes.

I just booked alamo at Mco Jan9-16 using costco code and costco $25 coupon and it offered a minivan cheaper than economy for $232 with all taxes/fees. Is this a good price?

Yes. Rates have so far been stupidly high over that period. Paying that for a minivan is pretty good anytime!

Where do I find the Costco code? My brain is not working that well this morning

On the costco site when you do a quote it fills in the codes for you, you have to look at the detailed info page and it gives the code # and what that code gets you. If you can't find it PM me and I'll send it to you, they do actually ask for Costco proof though so only bother if you are a member.

My rates for 01/04/12-01/13/12 just went down this morning by $40 using the Disney AP discount code 860292, $205 for a compact. Alamo is finally moving in the right direction!

We're travelling end of January as well for 10 days - hoping to get the rental for about $150 or less.

(Car Care Center Jan/04 to Jan/13)
Base Rate - Standard SUV (USD) *Jeep Grand Cherokee
(1) Time & Distance ($277.00/Week) $277.00
(2) Extra - Time & Distance ($39.57/Day) $79.14
Contract I.D. Alamo Insiders Members

I think that even the week charge is too high - is it safe to wait until January to make a car reservation?
:confused3

I would still make a reservation... I always have a reservation. The great thing about car rentals is you can make one, then cancel it if a lower price becomes available. I started at $313 and I am down to $205, I am betting it will hit $150 by the time our trip rolls around (same dates as yours). Now thats for a compact, but I think the same rules apply for a larger vehicle too.

Have you used the Visa $30 off coupon code? AD2338FDF?

Generally prices drop at 21 days, and continue to drop until 1-2 days before the trip. I have been watching the December thread and that seems to be the common consensus this year too.

Thank you, thank you, thank you my fellow Disers!!! Just checked for our dates and finally came up with something I can live with: $222 for 7 days versus the +$400 it was just two days ago. Will continue to check and be happy if it goes down, but will not complain. I can live with this!

Well I have gone from over $700 to $314 for a minivan with Alamo and the Costco codes

Our info:

1/15 we get in at Midnight so it will be 1230am rental on 1/16 and return the car on 1/23 at 2pm

I booked it but I am hoping I can get it much cheaper with Priceline I have never paid over $250 and don't plan to this time either!:sad2:
