Les Miserables Lovers...3rd UPDATE 10/18: Movie Dates!

Sooo cool! One of the perks of living in NYC, I've heard, is to sometimes see celebrities. (Not many of them in Iowa . . . )

I just told my DH what to get me for Christmas - he usually is at a complete loss (we won't talk about the year he got me the ThighMaster . . .)

I told him to get me tickets to the local Les Miz showing in the theater here on Christmas!!

Yeah, it's definitely a perk. What's funny is that the Les Mis premiere was way more crowded than the Hobbit premiere last week (although at the Hobbit, we all got official Gandalf hats). Musicals rule!!! :cool1:

My mom got me tickets for the movie as an early Christmas present too! However, with two family events and a new baby in the family (my new nephew, born last week)...I have to wait until the day after Christmas. As big Les Miz fans as my family is, ditching Christmas day this year ain't gonna fly.

Still can't wait!!!!

I'm a huge Les Mis fan. We'll be at Disney for Christmas and I'm gonna have to sneak this in somewhere. Either go at midnight or take a break from crazy Disney crowds to see it. Although it was quite embarrassing the way I cried watching the musical I wonder if I'll be ok after :p lol j/k I will probably cry though.

"sorry, Hugh . . ."

I saw her clip of when she gave the finger to the paparazzi at her wedding, but not this one.

Thanks, Jen.

That was funny. And her going off on Hugh saying he can make crepes. "Of course you can! You disgust me!" :rotfl:

That scene between Fantine and Valjean is based on something that actually happened. I read the story in a book about Les Mis: Victor Hugo had seen a man shove a handful of slush down the back of a prostitute's dress, and the woman reacted in surprise by turning around and slapping him. The man had her arrested, and the woman was about to be sent to jail for 6 months for 'attacking a gentleman'.

Hugo followed them to the police station (where the woman was now hysterically crying that she hadn't done anything wrong) and reported what he had seen to the police. They tried to dismiss him, but finally he told them who he was, and the woman was released 15 minutes later.

She was heard telling friends "How good the monsieur was...", which is where Fantine's "Good monsieur..." line comes from in the story.

Do they give an Academy award for Best Ensemble too?

No, they just do the Ensemble Award for the SAG Awards, since these are given out by the actor's union.

That's too bad. But, I'm so happy for the Les Mis group for the SAG nomination!

I can't wait to see the movie. I won't be able to make it on Christmas day, but as soon afterward as I can get to the theater, I'll be there!

I think the Golden Globe and a couple smaller awards gives them out too.

Thanks Jen for posting the list. On my personal unofficial nomination list I picked almost all the same people. The only differences were that I haven't seen Skyfall or Argo yet.

The Golden Globes split awards between Drama and Musical/Comedy, but they don't do an ensemble award. Some of the critics awards do, I think, but the major award for ensemble are the SAG awards.

I still have to see Argo...

Poor Anne . . . her wardrobe malfunction seems to be getting more publicity than the premiere . . . she was "devastated" about it.

Her reply to Matt Lauer was fantastic, though.

I find her fairly insufferable in general and it's ramped up exponentially with this publicity run (I ate only radishes, I mean oatmeal, I mean I ate nothing, I mean... I lost weight dangit, give me the statue!!!), but I cannot with her "sadness" over the photo.

Here's a way for that not to happen, dear - wear underwear when you leave the house in a dress.

Where do you get the tickets? We've been checking Fandango, movietickets.com, moviefone, and can't figure out how to get them in our area.

What wardrobe malfunction??? What did I miss?

She went to an event, via car, on the tour the other night in a dress, without underwear. Then she got out of the car, in front of the press. Then she was devastated and saddened.

Wear underwear.

Or watch old tapes of Lady Di getting out of a car without flashing her crotch. Either way.

I loved that reply. I don't even see why Matt Lauer needed to bring it up in the first place.

Yeah, obviously if she'd just worn underwear in the first place she would have avoided this whole mess, but the photographer certainly could have done the decent thing and deleted the photo too. There really are no winners in this.

But I do feel bad for her, regardless of the dumb fashion decision. I don't think she flashed anyone intentionally, and that has to be mortifying to find pictures like that all over the internet.

We got ours on Fandango. The theater doesn't have the times up for every show at our theater for that day, but the times for specific movies went up and Les Mis and Django Unchained were both up already.

Wasn't one photog, she was going to a press event. There were likely a couple dozen there, shooting the exact same thing. They're there to make money, someone was going to sell it - and the ones that aren't freelance, someone was going to run it.

She's not exactly new to the business. She knew where she was going, she knew she was taking a car. This is hardly the first 'underwear-free female celebrity, car-exiting' shot that's made the rounds. It's not like the topless Kate pics, where she was on the balcony of a private, secluded house with a reasonable expectation of privacy. The only reasonable expectation Hathaway could have had was that the moment the car door opened, flashes were going to go off.

I do feel sorry for her although I agree. I mean, that's what thongs and shapewear/slips (slips are a lost art, aren't they?) are for - so you don't get panty lines, the alternative is not to go panty less.

I hadn't heard about it, so didn't see her reaction, but for all we know it could've been purposeful. I don't think Anne is like that, but still it's possible.

Anyway doesn't took like DTD is having a midnight showing or 10pm showing like other theaters.
