Sister Wives

Out of curiosity I went to the sister wives website. They are designing clothes and accessories. REALLY? I know this sounds mean but I already know how to look fat and frumpy...WHY would anyone want to buy something they design. I always wish Stacey and Clinton would show up and help them look less dowdy.

Maybe it's how the show is edited, but it just feels like the marriage between Kody and Meri is more similar to a traditional monogamous relationship and the marriage to Robyn is trophy wife, Janelle is business partner and Christine is just because he needed another wife. If any of that makes sense. And I agree, how are they going to afford 4 big huge homes?

I also thought it was so sad how the kids were talking about him. With the exception of the one boy who said poly wasn't for him, the rest of them acted like Joe was God and that they worshiped the ground he walked on, and like he was superior to their mom(s). :sad2:

I agree. The Brown children were saying that whoever had the most knowledge on a subject made the family decisions in that area, and the one boy said that Papa Joe was always the most knowledgeable in all areas. It was a little weird in how he said it, too. "Papa Joe" also seemed to want to tell the Browns how to live or that they were somehow wrong in their feelings and decisions.

This show disturbs me...yet I can't stop watching!!! :sad2:

The family with the twin sisters-sister wives...Yuck... and weird!!!

I think that the boy that said that was from a previous marriage of the third wife. It may be a name that he chose or was told to use because he's not his biological father.

I am with you! I found it weird that the other family referred to their Father as "Papa Joe".

This was my assumption as well. This is the name he uses for his stepfather.

Anyone else get the feeling that Merri picked out Robin to tick off the other wives? Kind of a knife right up in there, here ya go, see how it feels to be replaced. She's younger, thinner and taking up a LOT of Cody's time.

I thought this too. She wanted a friend.

I just saw on amazon that the other poly family has a book out as well! It's called love times three. I wonder how many others will be trying to cash in on this new fad.

The part that bothered me was not the name, it was that he said that Papa Joe is always the most knowledgeable about everything and basically acted as if the man were infallible. I believe that my husband is much smarter than I am, but there are certainly areas in which I am more knowledgeable than he. I would worry if my almost adult children were practically worshiping his knowledge like that.

What did everyone think of Sunday's show? Yes, I know it's Wednesday but I just watched it this evening.

It certainly makes Kody and his wives look awesome on raising a family in polygamy??? :rolleyes1

It seems like they are determined to cast the Browns as "the good guys" this season. Why are they trying so hard to convince us?:confused3

I don't think the Browns are "bad" people. Different, yes and they all probably have their own issues, but most people do. I did think it was really odd and naive of Christine (who's one of favorites) this week, when she said "I didn't know men could be *******s, I didn't know)... really?? That seemed a little much to me, but who knows.

I actually thought that the episode with the other poly family actually portrayed the other family as a more have it "together" kind of family and portrayed the Browns as more of a disorganized mess. I personally thought the other poly family was pretty sad, at least what we saw, the kids seem so brainwashed, especially compared to the Brown kids.

I don't think they are bad people either, that's why it feels odd that they are trying to push that they are good polygamists!

I agree with you about Christine, does she not watch the news?

I have to say, I love the idea of Stacey and Clinton coming on and doing a make-over of all the wives! Maybe they could do Kody too.

I was at a party last week and couldn't believe how many people were talking about this show. I've seen maybe half an episode but the commercials seem to be on all the time so I know more than I want to! But a lot of people seem to watch it - they were all talking about which one is their favourite, etc. I was surprised!

I thought the same thing. Her saying that was waaaaaay too dramatic for me.

Christine's "I didn't know men could be...." Comment seemed scripted and joes family seems like a cult

My dd and I love the show (albeit we think its a weird lifestyle but the show is entertaining and we like the Browns) but when Christine said that, we both burst out laughing. All the Brown women have made references to the Warren Jeffs thing, she knows quite well that some men can be ba*****s.

As for the other poly family, they did seem a bit tightly wound. I also think its creepy for two sisters to share a husband. And they are identical twins to boot.

I still don't quite understand why Meri wants such a large house. Her daughter will be going to college and it will just be her, by herself, most of the time. That and the whole wet bar issue didn't make sense to me. I also couldn't believe that Cody was trying to force her to decide whether or not to try to have a baby through invitro or some other means. I thought it was pretty cold of him to say "I'm going to have other children, you need to decide what you want". It was like he was rubbing it in that she couldn't have anymore so he'd have kids with his other wives instead.
