By the way, any recent reviews of breakfast at Captain's Grille? It's been a long time since I've been there. In more recent years, I've booked this ADR a zillion times and cancelled it a zillion times. This time, we're guessing ME is picking us up at BWI at 11:45am and there isn't enough time for lunch at B&C. I will do ANYTHING to avoid the food court at the Orlando airport. So we'll have a 7am breakfast in the BWI club lounge, go to DHS for one more ToT ride and then have a 10:30am "brunch" at Captain's Grille. I'd kind of prefer Cape May, because there are some "lunch-type" foods on the buffet - like that amazing salad. But by the end of the trip, my husband will definitely be done with characters, so Captain's it is!
Is yesterday recent enough? Nothing to write home about food wise, I had eggs and bacon, but I found it very convenient for grabbing breakfast before the DME pickup. Having checked the luggage w/ RAC and knowing that the carry on was a few steps away @ Bell services was a stress free way to get some food before starting the long haul home. The servers were very nice, as well.

Dee, Missy, sndral, thank you!!! We saw emmysmommy's review and that sold our youngest on the spot - he saw the Mickey waffles and loves what he calls "choose your own breakfast." (That's known as a buffet to the rest of the world!) Sndral, so funny that you did exactly what we're planning just yesterday - convenient, getting kids fed before the flight, friendly service - sounds like it's just what we need. And Missy, great photos once again - you and Franklin can even make a bowl of rice krispies look really good! Will share that Mickey waffle photo with our youngest - he'll love it! :)

Since sleep hasn't been an option with me lately, I found myself reading the front of the thread over again! There are some things I've forgotten about that I get excited for all over again! 89 days until my first (and hopefully not last) stay at BC!

I could be going crazy, but wasn't there a menu of sorts for the beach club club level? I swear it listed the twigs light hour hot appetizers by day....like Sundays are meatballs and com queso with chips. Example, but I swear I saw that somewhere.

I don't think I have seen anything like that posted on this thread.

I wonder if there is something on the Concierge Thread- I haven't been over there for quite some time, but that might be a place to look.

Again, if anyone does run across a menu listing for club level, I would love to see, and post it!

I said the same thing about the CL menu. But no matter how hard I search I can't find a picture of the menu anywhere. WL has tons of menu pics for each day. I just want to make sure it worth the extra $$ for the 4 of us. Oh well

I have checked the CL thread at least most of it. So far I haven't seen any pics yet. If we do decide to stay CL in August I promise I will take pics of menus and the selections daily and email them too you.

Maybe I'm getting it mixed up with one of the other resorts I was originally considering (since WL was one of them). I'm 99% sure we're going to upgrade to CL for our trip in February, so assuming we do, I'll take pics/post the menu for each day, assuming its not just totally random. We'll be there 8 nights so hopefully I pick up on some type of pattern. If not, no biggie...just thought it would be nice to know.

Alright, alright...if you all want to pool together to upgrade my stay to CL, I'd be glad to go ahead and get you the food photos...I'll sacrifice... :lmao:

Right after everyone pitches in so I can stay in every room of the resort and document the bedding situation (King, two queens, daybed) and view description.

And I might as well check out the club level appetizer situation as long as I'm there....

Just came back from Beach Club CL 5 days. The breakfast was the same every day. Oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, cereal. Snacks were cookies m, homemade potato chips soda. Dinner time lobster or crab salad, choices on any given day of chicken teriyaki, pot stickers, spring rolls, etc. salads beer or wine, Late night cordials pastries. Just enough to take the edge off. Rooms were fine, clean. One say I needed to call to get the room made at 5 pm. We were out all day. Ate at vin Napoli fantastic pizza, captain's grill very nice , cape may breakfast and dinner nothing fantastic but ok. Candlelight procession wonderful, mickeys Christmas party was crowded but nice to be at. Osborne lights was a dud

It's Monday! Welcome Home People.......

Can't wait for our August trip :goodvibes

Well, I'm back from 9 nights @ YC - my second time there. I started w/ 3 nights @ the GF, my first 'split' stay, and my first stay @ GF, then moved to the YC, where my son joined me.
Room was way out - practically @ the Swolphin, on the map provided it was located in the corner that has been cut off to make the map fit on the half paper they give you @ check in.
Positives - first floor, right by an exit door w/ a nice view of the pond and trees - kept looking for an alligator, as I'd heard they were in every body of water in Florida, never saw one, just ducks and one day a crane.
Negatives - it was a long walk to the lobby and a really long walk to fill the refillable mugs we had as part of our deluxe dinning plan, thus we didn't use them much. The shower temp was initially lukewarm @ best. The plumber came (after 3 calls and 1 visit to the front desk) and the max temp he could get was 101 F. He cleaned something and got it up to 107 F. He said the max temp they set it at is 110 F due to safety concerns w/ children. I don't recall this being an issue last year when we were closer to the lobby and it certainly was not an issue @ my GF stay, I suspect because the room is so far from the main facilities the hot water takes awhile to get to the room and cools from the 110 F in transit. I noticed the plumber let the water run a long time before he checked the temp., so thereafter I did the same before I hopped in, waste of water, but a coolish shower wasn't working on my tired muscles. They offered to move us, but the room offered was over SAB w/ a lot of roof in the view so we declined. When I checked in the white duvet cover on one of the beds had some blood stains on it - I called housekeeping and they replaced it right away. The last night I noticed the sliding glass door was unlocked, as I checked each time I left and returned to the room, I found this troubling, but nothing of value was in the room, and nothing was missing, I just found it to be odd. The safe was very small (son's normal size tablet did not fit, nor would my camera fit in, only my Ipad mini fit in it) and used a key to secure it, the GF safe was bigger (fit my Nikon w/ lens on + Ipad mini easily) and was keyless, much better set up.
The weather was great, 70s for all 10 YC days (and my solo 3 GF days,) only rain was as we left MK after midnight on Sat. night, our last night.
Buses were better than many years, w/ only the DTD trip home after Fulton's dinner being bad - I timed it, it was a 50 minute wait at the DTD stop for the YC/BC/Swolphin bus to show up - didn't time the ride, so don't know total transit time. Epcot monorail was not working one night, and they had buses running from the TTC instead.
Parks - they shut down/roped off test track/Ellen/mission space area of Epcot @ 3pm for a 'press event,' which was inconvenient for us as it happened to be the evening we planned to do that area of Epcot and when we decided to head over to MK early, we discovered the monorail problem. Was surprised to see a few BTGs and saw a lot more clumps of pop warner cheerleaders in the parks than we have in past years. Both the BTGs & the cheer/football kids were well behaved - just normal excited/giggly teens.
We do the deluxe dinning as a ts lunch and a 2 ts dinner, so we see a lot of restaurants in our stays. I was amazed at how much less the wait time after check in was vs. previous years. Not sure what WDW did, but it was much improved from previous years. Only Cape May and Mama Melrose were like the old days of check in and wait far too long. It was my first Cape May dinner, as I liked the food, I'll give them another shot, Mama Melrose is out of the rotation for awhile.
We had decided before going to give WDW a pass next December, opting for some other destination, but we'll be back in 2014, which gives me lots of time to plan.

Thanks for the TR. I think I'll put a room request to be close to lobby. My left knee is falling apart!

Guess who had a GIANT sundae at Beaches & Cream?

It was Flat Ben!

Yum!!

We ate breakfast at Captain's Grille in October and had a really yummy breakfast. I had the buffet (they let you order an omelette as part of the buffet, so I had a ham and cheese omelette). Franklin had the lobster omelette, which he RAVED about.

The buffet food was all fresh and hot. Lots of choices, though I don't remember there being anything remarkable to choose from, just your typical Disney breakfast buffet fare. Here are some food porn photos from that morning:

For the record, Franklin helped me with some of those waffles and sausage links.

Hope this helps!

Lobster omelettes ? That's all I need to know! Def. having a breakfast there during our August trip!

Looks like spending money just got easier at Yacht and Beach Club. Touch To Pay at WDW

Yay! Am I the only one that loves the new door locks? So easy especially when your hands are full. I was a bit surprised that there was no explanation at checkin though.

Another fan of breakfast at Captain's Grille.

I posted this on the dining reservations sub-board but have gotten no responses, so I thought I'd try here.

We'll be staying at YC March 1 - 9. Most mornings we'll probably just grab and go for breakfast but if we decide we feel like a more substantial meal will it be a problem to walk into Captain's Grille without an ADR?

How about at dinner time? Does it get booked up?

Thanks! We're so excited about our first ever deluxe stay!

Just depends on occupancy. Sometimes it's easy to walk in for breakfast and dinner and sometimes you cannot get in without a reservation. Sorry ... this doesn't help you much.

Thanks for your quick reply, I should have asked here first. I guess we'll have to play it by ear. We will know the night before what we want to do, so perhaps we can check for an ADR then.
