Anyone ever get your old iPhone officially unlocked via AT&T? I filled out the form online and am waiting for an answer but just wondering if anyone had any experiences to share.

Thanks

I had a 3GS and a 4 unlocked from att contract. Once you submit, you will receive an email confirming your submission, then after 1-2, you will receive a confirmation.

Then you go to itunes and restore it. It should say "Congrats, you have successfully unlock your iPhone" (or something close to it). If not, you can call or chat with a rep, give them you imei # to confirm its unlocked.

Its very simple.

I used my dad's 3G iPhone. I just put the sim card in it and then made it mine by hitting restore maybe?

I don't think I had to contact ATT? :scratchin

it varies by modem firmware. Some modem firmware will allow it. only problem after that is that you wont be able to change the APN for internet and MMS. If you have it unlocked with att, you have the option to change APN. my 3GS didnt require the unlock but i didnt have the icon to change APNs. My 4 however is still locked...

Though, there are programs that can change the APN without the unlock. lol.

Thanks everyone. It was a painless process. I had never done it before and didn't know what to expect.
