New Years Eve Week

Hey everyone!

I am debating on making the drive from Chicago to Walt Disney World the week of New Years Eve by myself. It's going to be about a 19 hour drive.

I know it is going to be nuts that week and I am prepared for the crowds. I would love to be in Epcot for New Years Eve. I did book a dinner package for Candlelight Processional on December 29.

Is anyone going to be in the parks December 27-January 4? Am I nuts? lol:cool1:

We always go that week and have done NYE at various parks. EPCOT is fun on NYE so is Hollywood Studios. Stay as far a s possible from the Magic Kingdom that day, did it once as it was crazy!

Thanks for the info.

I am hoping to meet up with some DISers, if I go.

Is anyone else going to be there? :)

Except for NYE we try and stay away from the Parks until after the 1st, it is very crowded. We enjoy checking out all the holiday decorations around the different resorts before that. Make sure your get some ADR's or you may find trouble finding open tables or have to wait a very long time.

We will be there from Dec 30-Jan 7th. Went to Disneyland last NYE. That was fun! I think we are going to avoid all the parks on actual NYE (have a toddler), maybe go to AK NYE because I here it is very NOT busy :)

We are driving from Indianapolis.

I will most likely be in EPCOT on NYE. I usually park myself in the Italy Pavilion once the music starts.

Of course you're nuts, just like the rest of us. ::yes:: :rotfl: ;)

DH & I will be in Epcot on 12/31, and MK on 12/30. Arriving 12/29, leaving Thur 01/03. We'll have LGMHs on our backpack and my lanyard, so be on the lookout for us!!

I have the same plans! MK on 30th, Epcot on 31!

I have a DIS button I wear on my bag. We must meet up if I go!
I've made a bunch of ADRs for 2 and now I am solo... :/

Definitely! When you know you're going, PM me and we'll exchange #s. DISmeets just add another something to look forward to. :hippie:

We will be there the same week. We are coming in on the 30th, but we don't have plans to do anything that night but rest since we are driving in from Louisiana.

We had plans to do MK on NYE but I hear Epcot is good too... so now I am confused. It will be me and my husband and two teenage boys (both 14) and a girl who is almost 12. Suggestions?

From all reports I've read, MK is seriously, insanely crowded on 12/31, but may still be the most fun! We chose Epcot on 12/31 because it's hubby's favorite park, and they have so much space to handle the enormous crowd. Add to that the fact that MK does their NYE fireworks on 12/30 as well as 12/31, and it's a no-brainer for us ~~ we'll get the best of both!!! (not that we're greedy or anything... :rolleyes1)

So it really depends on what your family most enjoys. And if you do feel like getting out on the 30th without going in a park, I've seen great pix of the MK fireworks from the TTC!!

But I know what you mean about needing to rest, our drive is about 12hrs, and I'd guess yours is at least that long too. We'll spend the 29th just wandering our resort before we crash. Two LOOOOONNNNNGGGGGGG days in a row are going to be a challenge! :tilt:

we're going to be at MK on the 30th and Epcot on the 31st too! I have a feeling that's what everyone in the world is going... so it's gonna be WILD :scared:

But, I'm hoping the following week, things will slow down....

we have done NYE at disney on 3 occasions....we did the millenium at EPCOT, and that was something to behold.....however the other two times, we spent the better part of the day at Epcot on the 31st, then went back to the resort (OKW) where they had a whole bunch of activities set up for adults and kids, and we had a great time....I agree MK is a complete zoo on that day.....Epcot is great if your going to spend the entire evening though...I would advise finding a nice place in Italy or Japan to park yourself and just take it all in

I am still trying to decide if I should make the drive by myself. I wish airfare wasn't so expensive!
I also feel guilty going alone again. I love going to Disney by myself! I love meeting new friends, but I wish my family would come too!

I hope we can all meet up! I plan on parking myself at some point to watch Illuminations. Hopefully I have a friend to be a "runner" for beverages ad snacks! Lol

Sounds like everyone has the same idea. We have a Be Our Guest ADR on the 30th and planning to be in Epcot for NYE proper after an ADR at Bluezoo. Flying back home the afternoon of the 1st.

Ooh, jealous!! :tilt: I tried for BOG on 12/30, ALL DAY the day the reservations opened, and only that night could get through. Best I could get is 01/01/13 dinner. Looking forward to it!!

Look for us with the LGMHs!!

What is the TTC? We may do that on the 30th so we can do Epcot for NYE....

I think I am going to make the trip! Not 100% sure, am more 80% sure now!

I wish I had a BOG ADR :/

I am booked at Pop, it seems every value is booked solid now too! I was hoping to rent points for January 1 and 2, but there is nothing available.

We should plan a DISer meet on NYE in Epcot or MK on the 30th!!

We will be arriving at WDW at 3pm NYE, heading immediately to Epcot and a 4:30 ADR for a late lunch at Chefs de France and an 8:30 ADR for dinner at Via Napoli. (We love our food!) Glad to hear Italy is the place to hang out.

Will be there until the 5th and have not been able to get an ADR for BOG for the past 2 months. Hoping to squeeze in with any of the ADRs they hold for "day of" reservations, although I think that is unlikely.

Will be checking if there are any dis-meets happening.

If anyone knows of any tricks to get into BOG that week, let me know. It is our second anniversary and we spent our honeymoon at WDW so trying to make it special.

Cheers,

Ticket & Transportation Center, which is the parking lot from where you can get a bus, monorail, or the ferry to MK. It's next to the Poly beach, but it's possible they could limit the Poly beach to Poly guests.

From there, you could even ride the ferry in and back during the fireworks, to get even closer views.
