Looks like we will have lots of company on our trip. :cool1: So excited to be there.Look for the older couple:laughing:(yes... accused of being grandparents quite often!)with DS9 and DD7 in the food court, around the pool, in the lounge or lobby or riding the ferry to DTD to shop and say Hi!:flower3:

T We arrive Sunday (me, DH, DS10) and we couldn't be more excited. Now just one last day of school and a swim meet and we will be on our way! Oh, and a whole lot of packing lol.

Maybe Ill make my way over there with my LGMH tags and see if anyone spots me.

LGMH! How fun! Haven't thought about those since our cruise where we had huge disboard fun and meets. may have to get one out of our cruise stuff and post it on our door!

DS is just weeks away from turning 10 and DD is well 7. Sounds like a play date waiting to happen poolside.

Checking in on 12/10 but not going into a park that day so maybe we will see everyone!

Is the Magnolia building closer to the lobby(taxi) than AB 17 or is it me? Thanks for your help.

It would depend on where in each building you happened to be placed to be honest, as especially with the mansions they are quite large and while the river-facing side of Magnolia Terrace gives good access for what you want (crossing over the island bridges) the far side is somewhat less so.

Personally I suggest requesting WHAT you want from your location, rather than a specific building (e.g. "mansion building, close access for taxis and buses") in a fax about 3-5 days before arrival.

Great (well, mostly, details below) first day here at POR. The forecast had called for rain but not a drop as of now. No wait for the ME bus, a bit of a wait at check in but nothing major. pixiedust:when we checked in, we were upgraded to a river view room. The people checking in next to us were upgraded to the Poly!
Ordinarily, I would have been extremely jealous but the purpose of this trip is to calm down my life. This resort is so beautiful and peaceful, just what I need. The room is fabulous ......EXCEPT........ if you are easily grossed out, stop reading. Really.
We entered the room, took the required pictures and dd went in to the bathroom. Hanging on the back of the door was a dirty pair of men's underwear. sooooo disgusting. I called housekeeping immediately, of course, and someone came right up. She was also horrified, removed them, and cleaned the entire bathroom again. That didn't stop me from pulling out my own Clorox wipes and going over everything again. I inspected the sheets on the bed and they passed the "no wrinkles like they were slept on" test. Still a bit spooked by it but at least I know the room is now clean. I figured if I asked to move, I may get one that is dirty but no "proof". I didn't throw a fit because, like I said, the woman who came up was truly upset and apologetic. We are awaiting a call from the housekeeping manager.
Anyway, aside from that, we spent the day lounging around, went to DTD and now are going to sit outside and watch the world go by in the beautiful courtyard with a glass of wine.:)

:confused3 I sent my fax in a few days ago and did not get a response. Should I be worried or just leave it alone?

Hi everyone!
Now that I am posting in the right place :-)blush:)

DH and I are surprising our kids with a trip to Orlando as our big Christmas gift this year. It has been over 3 years since we took a proper vacation so this will be a big deal. We have been to WDW 3 times but have never stayed on site. The kids are going to be in shock!

I've looked & looked and looked some more and finally decided on POR :)

We have 5 kids: newborn, 2, 6, 9 & 11

I am hoping we can book the royal room for the kids and a regular room for DH and I (with the baby). We would absolutely need the rooms adjoining though for obvious reasons. I am hoping that they will be able to do this??

We will be arriving Jan 29th and not sure if we will stay 3 or 4 nights.

Should be exciting!!!! Can't wait to get there.

We just got home on Tuesday evening from a 6 night stay in one of the mansions 8500 building. Overall we loved the resort and found a vast majority of the staff super friendly and helpful.

I did have an issue, I accidentally left my phone on one of the beds and it was missing when I returned in the room in the afternoon. I attempted to ask a member of house keeping who was cleaning rooms two doors down from me. She asked why I was asking and I nicely stated that my phone was missing and I wanted to check if maybe they turned it in to lost and found. As soon as I said missing phone she she stopped looking at me and acted like she couldn't understand me, started shaking her head, no no etc. I asked if she knew who cleaned our room or who I could speak with who may be able to tell me. She just repeated, I don't know over and over. This made me really uncomfortable. I called house keeping who connected me to lost and found. At this point I knew something was up b/c DH tried calling my phone and it was going straight to voice mail. My phone is password protected set by my work. I've personally entered the password incorrectly and it takes many attempts before te phone shuts down to safe mode. I knew at this point it was most likely in safe mode.

I reported to lost and found that my phone was missing from my room. I was told by the person on the phone that I was mistaken and that housekeeping found a phone but not in my room. I was asked to describe the phone. I did, then I was asked what picture was on the screen and I honestly couldn't think of what screen she may be looking at. I told her there would be a password prompt on the screen. She said give me the password. I told her no, bring me the phone and I will put the password in I front of you and you can verify that it is infact my phone. She abruptly said, that is enough we will bring the phone down. 40 min later no phone so I called again. About 10 min later someone from housekeeping came down with the phone and a statement for me to sign that they found the phone in the Parking lot. I signed it because I really didn't want to let it ruin my vacation but it was upsetting. Lesson learned, double check your room for valuables before leaving.

When I got my phone back it was in safe mode. I had to reset it so someone tried many times to enter the incorrect password. I think that because it was useless maybe that is why I got it back do I would also recommend password protecting electronics.

Excuse my ignorance but what is an LGMH?

Lime Green Mickey Head

Originated from taking paint samples from Home Depot and laminating them or something creative and then hanging them from camera bags or book bags.

Thanks to all for the help and tips. I received an email in response to my fax that our room requests will be taken care of! I have sent a fax on our last two trips (ASM and CBR) and never received any response. This shows me that POR must have a very high level of customer service. We arrive Sunday (me, DH, DS10) and we couldn't be more excited. Now just one last day of school and a swim meet and we will be on our way! Oh, and a whole lot of packing lol.

We arrive sunday as well! Really looking forward to this trip!

:confused3 I sent my fax in a few days ago and did not get a response. Should I be worried or just leave it alone?

I sort of freaked out because it seemed people were sending in their faxes early. I sent mine in 6 days before our arrival day and didn't hear anything until today, which is 3 days before we check in. I was told they were assigning rooms for my check in date today (again, 3 days out). I don't think they actually physically assign rooms until closer to your arrival, which makes sense to me!

I sent my fax 5 days out and heard back the next day. Silly question, but did you include your email address on your fax?
