August 25 2012

FYI: System maitence will be performed for WDW, Aulani and DL will perform a reservation system enhancement beginning at 5 p.m. Eastern time (2 p.m. Pacific) on Monday, October 8, 2012, and lasting until Tuesday afternoon, October 9, 2012.

You trying to tell me something? Wink Wink

I dug a little deeper, checked another source and the answer I got was not tomorrow. Some well connected TAs usually get a heads-up a day in advance to prepare for the "feeding frenzy" that can be that first day.

Apparently, the DCL website cruise search funtionality maintenance done today had nothing to do with them loading the new dates.

Thanks for the update::yes::

I sent my DU TA my info for 2014 just in case:thumbsup2

Must also be coinidence that my TA is in Disney training this week, but will be back in on Monday. She said she would alert me when 14 comes out, and I have heard nada from her yet. Hmmmmm

The DVC website will be down at the same time so something is in the mix.

Boy .... and we were worried about weather and sea conditions on OUR cruise. Turns out we were extremely fortunate, eh? See what the folks who just got off the Fantasy went through?

I've been following the threads on the DIS too. I'm shocked that the Capt. decided to go directly into the storm, putting everyone in danger. And then the Fantasy went back out yesterday? Crazy.

Do you have a link? love to read more on this
Thanks

Hey Mark,

I got your email, sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I hope all is well, everything is good with us. Thanks for posting the video.

Jeff

Just wondering if any of you have decided to book a DCL cruise for 2014?

We booked the August 16, 2014 Western this morning. Not completely sure we are going to actually take it, but are extremely hopeful it will work out for us with Mike's vacation picks (which he can't make until December 2013 for August 2014).

Pretty sure if we do go, we may make this a bonanza vacation. Cruise first and then a week at WDW after.

Allison will be 13 that year. I'm afraid it may only be a matter of time after that when going to Disney (or worse, on vacation with her parents!) may start to lose its appeal. So, I better make this one count!

We booked for August 2, 2014 Western yesterday using our dummy booking date that we made while on the cruise this summer.

I almost had a stroke when I got the price:scared1: but my middle DD will be starting college at the end of August so the 16th won't work for us. We went to Jamaica for our honeymoon 22 years ago and my wife didn't want to stay again for a long period of time. She thinks the girls will enjoy Dunns River Falls so we are excited::yes::

Ha! I was going to book that same cruise, but with the prices, I may wait awhile and see how it's selling. Yeah, as guess as long as I pay, my kids will vacation with me - even though both will be teens in 2014. I may stay a few days in USO and the rest in Disney after the cruise. So hard to plan so far away. I am more of a short term planner.

Ditto on the stroke! Hoping for some good port adventure offerings for Jamaica. The hike to Dunns River Falls may be too high octane for the kids and my Mom. Though I would love to go.

Yep, the prices are crazy. 8/16 was lower than some of the other August dates. Unfortunately, August is the only month we can ever do because of the kids school schedules and DH's vacation picks.

I'm paying about $700 more for this cruise than the August 2012 cruise, to stay in the exact same stateroom. Although about $100.00 of that increase is due to the fact that DD will be 13 by then and is charged at a higher rate now.

I figured book it. I already had a deposit down from a dummy cruise I had no intention of taking. I can always move this or cancel it if I need to. I am not particularly comfortable about waiting until the list minute to try and get a lower rate. The obsessive compulsive planner in me just won't allow it.

We plan to come in the day before the cruise, take the cruise and then stay over for a week since I have a floating time share week:)

Right now we have DCL transporation roundtrip but I am thinking that I will keep the transportation going to the port because I loved checking in at the airport, the convenience of not handling the luggage and not having to drive to the port.

Then we can take the shuttle to the rental car place and drive to my timeshare. We won't be in a hurry since they typically don't let you check in until the afternoon.

I'm pretty sure we are coming in the day before also. I'm thinking of doing a one way rental to the port, staying at one of the places nearby and then taking the hotel's shuttle to the port the day of the cruise.

After the cruise we will either stay at WDW (if prices are good, they usually are the last week of August, often with free dining being offered) or alternatively, I hope my uncle will bless us with the use of his floating time share for that week. He's been kind enough to make the offer to us twice before.

Turns out there was a glitch in initial pricing with the Aug 23, 2014 Eastern sailing ... they were even higher than the peak of the peak summer months and had me running scared! :scared1:

Good news, they are actually reasonable (all relative).

I was able to book a T for 2A3C for 11,800. I know that ain't cheap but most summer sailings were/are pricing over 20K for the same thing. The eastern right before the one I booked priced at 15,800.

FYI, the Roy is available. It priced for us just a squish under 25K which is 5K more than this past 8/25 cruise ... no thanks.

You out there Jeff? Which cruise did you book?

Well, that's good news. I had seen you mention the unbelievable prices for the T on the main board. Happy it worked out for you.
