Welcome to :
Rabbit, Hatter & Chessie Go Rogue in Christmasland...
An accounting of our most recent Disney Adventure that took place from Thurday November 29 through Monday December 3
My Disname is PracPerfPatricia ( I fell in love with Mary Poppins all over when it became a musical plus I think the triple Ps give it a nice flow)
I am not practically perfect-far from it ... although I try to sell this rumor to my family-especially my children... in the hope that it will stick...
Hopefully my old Dis friends will be following along & I hope to make some new ones as well...
So that everyone is on the same page... some introductions might be in order
If you've read any of my previous trip reports or in case you haven't guessed- I love Alice in Wonderland- the book, the movie, the characters- both Disneyfied and non Disneyfied versions. I adore Lewis Carroll's use of language, the humor, the cleverness, the absurdity of it all... it very much reminds me of my own life at times (not that I often am witness to hookah smoking caterpillars) but never the less I get the topsy turveyness of it all. So on a whim when I began Dising... to amuse myself (which is a useful talent) I assigned my family members characters that in some way reminded me of each of us...
Me Patricia- the Cheshire Cat...mainly due to the smirk... I am often accused of smirking... although I prefer to think of it as just a playful little smile... I am incredibly sentimental but will turn slightly sarcastic to cover it up...I'd like to think that I am kind but I also have very little tolerance for bullies or rudeness. I love the Magic Kingdom deeply and can become teary every time I enter it the first time on a Disney trip. I adore the classic Disney animation of the 30s and 40s and all kinds of Disney History. Since I love to travel and I love most things Disney... a trip to WDW is a perfect cocktail of those two loves. My favorite princesses are Snow White (classic) & I want to live in the dwarves cottage and Merida- Thank goodness we finally have a princess who doesn't own a flat iron to straighten her hair. My favorite ride is the Haunted Mansion. My favorite drink is... well we'll get to that.
My Husband Eric- the Mad Hatter ...due to the fact that I sometimes think the rest of our family have driven him mad... He is very fond of Disney and while his affections may not reach the same heights as mine -he is quite happy there... provided we stick to the "PLANS". (He was ecstatic this trip since it was our first trip as DVC owners-we have a very small contract we hope to add to... home base-the Beach Club.) He loves meandering the resort & the whole Boardwalk area. Usually however, He's not happy with random detours or deviating from the schedule... Despite that he is an incredible dad and father and always puts the rest of us before himself. His favorite character is Donald and his favorite park is the Animal Kingdom.
My Son David- the White Rabbit ... due to his incredible discomfort/nervousness with being late for things. (also there are eight years difference between him and his older sister-and she always thought the White Rabbit was a really cute character in the parks especially). He is incredibly good natured, wickedly smart and a bit eccentric. He can be a bit forgetful about things he isn't that interested in, although he has a memory like a steel trap for things that he is interested in.... His sense of humor is by turns sophisticated and sarcastic and at other times ridiculously Goofy- (who also happens to be his favorite character) He is 10 and he is an Epcot boy through and through. Space Mountain and the Sum of all Thrills are currently his favorite rides.
Not Accompanying us on this trip (for the very first time) my daughter Emily who is 18 - Alice ... basically she just has a certain "Aliceness" about her... This was the very first time that she didn't come with us... She is a High School Senior and felt that with all of her academic and extracurricular demands, she had best sit this trip out... She also is quite smart, very kind and loyal and often funny without intending to be... She is very stubborn and sometimes thinks she knows the best way to "do Disney". This sometimes set her at odds with Hatter... who is also stubborn... Her favorite princess hands down is Belle. She loves Expedition Everest and all things Disney in general.
Well simply not having Alice with us was very different... it changed the group dynamics... (even things like ride seating changes when you are 3 instead of 4) & some of the things we normally do- & I made sure to plan and do some things so it would be a different trip...
The parks were beautifully decorated for the holidays and we enjoyed many holiday favorites. We made sure to see some new things -like the Osbourne Lights at the Studios, ride some new rides (for us) Rock N Roller Coaster, got to check out the newly opened Fantasyland in previews and had lunch at Be Our Guest plus tried out a variety of adult beverages (well Hatter and I at least).
...and while we did miss Alice very much ... we also had a wonderful time... by doing some things differently than usual, changing it up a bit... mixing it up a bit...
SO I hope you will sign on for the adventure... it's become Christmasland at WDW and Chessie, Hatter and Rabbit are going just a bit Rogue...
