Just booked Fantasy Western, April 26th 2014
2 adults
2 children (ages 10 and 7)
Category 5E, Cabin #10658
$4962.60
no insurance/transfers
Don't know if this is a good deal or not. First Disney Cruise!
It says this on the reservation, E-BOOKING OBC OFFER, don't know what it means!

WOW. Just priced out Fantasy for March 8th, 2014. Same week we have booked for 2013 (spring break), same Cat. 6A. Cruise is $1000 higher than what we booked for 2013. 5k for 2A2C. That is a 25% price increase. I know my salary hasn't gone up 25%.

Problem is having now done a longer cruise, the 3/4 night runs to Nassau (yuck!!) just aren't appealing.

If you don't mind going on a Western and could go a week earlier, the 3/1 cruise is cheaper. We were going to hold both (we could go either side of that weekend of 3/8), but it was several hundred more for the 3/8, so we're just going to go with 3/1.

I guess that is what makes the 4/12/14 price tollerable. It is so much less than the July dates that we would need to book so DS doesn't miss school. Hoping we will be able to go, but not counting on it. I did book the bigger room just in case because these kids sure aren't getting any smaller. ;)

You got that right :) I hope you guys can go, too! I'm worried about the school calendar not being out and this week being different than past year's patterns. I'm tempted to book on board in a few days - woohoo  - to lock in the other week, just in case...If the price is the same as today, I just might.

I wish. DW is a teacher. One thing to pull the kids out of school. Another to pull the teacher out. could leave her at home but it will be her 40th birthday. Anyone know a good divorce lawyer??

I am so confused as to why it is cheaper to cruise Easter week than in August. I suppose it boils down to supply and demand. I'm just surprised.

No, it's not supply & demand. It's because everyone has a different spring break week. We get no days off around Easter in my county in FL. Spring break for us is early March. In Ohio growing up, it was always Easter week. That's why WDW is busy from March thru whenever Easter is - variant breaks.

We haven't received detailed pricing yet, but our TA has a hold for us for Jan. 11 Eastern. She's swamped, I'm sure, and will get us details soon. We're in category 5E (woohoo!), and online pricing looked as follows: 2A ($1379/ea), 2C, 11&8 ($749, I believe, ea). Total around $4500 with taxes, no ins., no discounts. My parents are in a connecting room. Can't wait!! These prices were in line with what they were for this coming January several months back. We're happy, as it was right in budget and within our expectations. :thumbsup2

Eastern Fantasy
June 28th 2014
2A 1C Cat 6B
$5820 w/on board discount, no transfers no insurance

WOW! That's $1600 more than our June 2012 cruise that had no discounts.
We got it on hold, but pretty sure were not going to keep it. :sad1:

March 15th, 2014 - 7 night Western
2 adults, 1 child (6)
category 8D (Deck 5)
$3705.15 (includes tax and on board discount transfered)

June 21st - 7 night Western
2A, 1C (6)
cat 8D
$5175.06 (includes tax and on board transfer)

Western
2/15/2014
2A/2C (7,10)
$5,536.60
(All Taxes, Fees & Port Charges Included)

The price is what it is - if I didn't want to go on that date I wouldn't book it. Disney is not forcing anybody to pay these prices - if you don't like the price, don't go. You have options. The only thing that will change Disney's pricing is empty cabins, until that happens why would prices go down? Especially opening day pricing. What's more likely to happen is opening day stays high and popular dates full up quickly and the discounts for off-season increase but only as you get much closer to sail dates.

Um, what do you think supply and demand is? My point was that price is determined by supply and demand. Supply is pretty constant. Demand is higher in the summer than Easter week (which I find surprising) so that dictates a lower price during Easter week than most weeks in August. I understand your explanation (Spring break is spread out) but it absolutely is determined by supply and demand.

I haven't heard from my TA yet, but I have full confidence that she has me booked. I checked the pricing on the website myself.

May 31 Eastern
Cat 4C - 2A 2C (4 & 9)
$5899.03 w/ 10% OBB
No insurance, no transfers

This is pretty much exactly what I expected to pay. I am a happy camper this morning! We are bringing family with us this time. I was afraid it would be sticker shock for them, but I think they can handle this.

2/21/14
1A 2K (15,13)
9C Deluxe Oceanview Obstructed view
$3207.36 (1121.40 x 2/718.20 + 246.36 taxes)
transferred OBB, no tranfers, no ins

We booked:

March 1-8 , 7 nights Western Caribbean (My kids spring break)
Cat 8C - Deluxe Family Oceanview
2A3k (9,6,3)

Total with discount, no transfers

4884.65$

I am happy with this! :)

I am gold, so these prices are from 1st day...but they haven't gone up today!

These prices include 10% discount from transferred cruise (but I didn't get the "pricing glitch" from early yesterday.)

May 24, 2014
Western, Fantasy
1 adult, 1 child (age 15)
8C
3012.64

May 24, 2014
1 adult, 2 children (13,10)
8C
3833.16

so total for 2 staterooms: 6845

While I am still gagging over the price, I felt better a price per night comparison to my 2012 Spring Break Cruise. I booked that cruise 13.5 months out and had the onboard booking discount as well. (paid 3913 for 2 cat 8c).

Price per night for 2012 at 13 months out: 978.25
Price per night for 2014 at 16 months out: 977.86

The price of the 2012 cruise almost doubled before sailing.

Now I have the internal debate -- if my family can sleep in the same stateroom for 7 nights and still adore a cruise. (over a $1000 savings!) I almost think we could handle it for a 4 night cruise...but 7 nights? not sure.

Moved an OBB I had been holding for quite a while:

August 16, 2014 Western Fantasy

Cat. 5C - 2A, 2C (ages 13 & 8) $5,961.38. That includes our 10% OBB. No transfers or insurance.

About an hour after I booked that, my Mom decided she wanted to go...so I went back in and changed it again.

Cat. 4C - 3A, 2C (ages 13 & 8) $7,371.40. That includes our 10% OBB. No transfers or insurance.

The $7300 is about what we paid for our August 2012 Eastern Fantasy cruise with one huge difference - that cruise price included DCL transfers and insurance. So, I think this pricing is about $700 more expensive than our last cruise.

Also attributable to the increased expense: my daughter will be 13 at cruise time and it looks like price-wise, she is now treated the same as a third adult in the room. So, I'm paying about $100 more for her in 2014 than I did in 2012, just by virtue of the fact that she had the nerve to grow up.

Expensive? Yes. Insanely more than I have paid for DCL in the past for this category cruise? No. I looked at similar cruise on RCCL, and the pricing seemed pretty close.

We booked:

March 1-8 , 7 nights Western Caribbean (My kids spring break)
Cat 8C - Deluxe Family Oceanview
2A3k (9,6,3)

Total with discount, no transfers

4884.65$

I am happy with this! :)

Glad you got it. That came in only $200 than I calculated yesterday. I figured it should be somewhat lower as I think our DS(14) is about $50 or so more than your kids, so that would be about $150 of it.

Now we'll just have to get our DIS Meet thread going. :thumbsup2

May 31 Fantasy Eastern
Cat 5D - 2A1C(12)
$5062.36 ($1904/$1904/$1008)
No OBB, No insurance, No transfers

:scratchin and three days to decide what to do....
