December 2012 Car Rentals

Here's what I would do, but it's a PITB. I would take a cab to a local Budget location and book a car from there. Go to the Costco booking engine and enter zip code "32807". Select the 6363 E Colonial Drive location for your pickup and MCO as your drop off. It's about 10 miles from MCO. You'll get a rate of $125 all taxes, etc for a mid-size. You'll have to pay a $30-$40 cab fare to get there, but you're still looking at $165 all-in. Make sure that the local location is open when you arrive!

YOU are AWESOME! Just my daughter and I with carry-ons - so the smallest car is fine! I would have never even considered that option. We get in at Noon - so I'm sure it will be fine.

Thanks again!!

Alamo's rates are finally down this morning. Got a full size for $135 all in for Dec 8-15. :cool1: Used Alamo Insiders and $30 off VISA coupon.

Unfortunately, the only way to get a reasonable minivan rate thru National is to use the dreaded KLM code :confused3

Also for Dec 8-15, I can confirm this morning that Alamo rates are down. I booked a Compact for $139 using the Insider's code and the Birthday "free day on us" coupon.

Other than the Visa $30 coupon, does anyone know of any other Alamo $30, $25 or $35 coupons?

Thanks for inspiring me to double check...I just rebooked at Alamo for $94 for a compact 12/14-18. Saved another $23. I too used the birthday free day rental code that they sent.

Thanks for the heads up !! just rebooked w/Alamo using Costco ID:7015309 and AD2338FDF for a standard Dec 8-15 for a grand total of $125.15 :woohoo: It was way cheaper booking thru the alamo site then the Costco site

Dear Santa :santa:,

All I want for Christmas is one of these fabulous rates for a full-size car from December 23 to 30. I have been a very good girl all year ::yes:: .... or most of it anyway ;) .

I promise to use the savings on my rental vehicle to help stimulate the American economy :thumbsup2. This Canadian girl loves to shop at the Florida outlet malls.

Love,

Gina :)

Gina...I'll cross my fingers for you too! Outlet shopping was really the pull to get a car. I have visitation rights for a certain purse at Coach.

You can try the "taxi trick" with Budget. The Landstreet location is about 11 miles from MCO and a $25-$30 taxi ride. Using the two codes you are already using you can get a full size for $227.70 - $20. Add the $30 and you're at $247 all-in. I don't know if it's worth it for you to save $30 or not, but it's an option.

The idea is a good one, but we have a standard SUV with Budget (X474200 & MUWZ023) for $275 all in, which we can live with if nothing better comes along.

On our New Years week vacation, we got a Chevy HHR for $65 taxes included (7 day rental). The last week of August, we got an Impala for $115 all-in for the week. I knew Christmas week was going to be expensive.....I really did.....but hope springs eternal and I can't help hoping for rates like other folks are starting to see for early and mid December.

I am sure DH will be adamant to pick up and drop off at MCO, as that's "familiar". I also don't fly well (thank goodness for gravol and barf bags ) so the smoother the transition from plane to vehicle, the better. I am a royal pain in the rump!!!

Rented Alamo standard got to check in he said full size! Yeah... Picked a brand new impala with leather from the row several mini vans in full size row as well and Camrys and mostly impalas... Glad we chose Alamo over advantage ressie which was $20 cheaper...

I also am very happy to report I got a standard sedan Dec. 13-19 for $143 with Alamo Insiders and fifth day free, after they sent me an email. The link to that is on their website. Had a rental for $205 from Dollar and was a little leery about Dollar at MCO anyway.

Even though we aren't going to be in WDW, we are renting a car in Fla in 12 days. We have different pickup and dropoff sites though; I just went on and tried a new reservation and we went from $245 to $108. I can not believe it! Yay! I used AARP, plus we are Emerald Club members, and I found a coupon code online.
