Correction, make that 400$ difference, we paid around 4600 not 4300.. So that's not bad actually. Our kids are young enough that we can pull them out of school for a week without worrying about them missing tests and such.

The quote you gave me was this for the March or May date?

We could get a NCL 8 night Eastern Caribbean for about 4000$.. Departing from NY

That's what the Cat Rs go for on the 7 night Fantasy w/ 2A and 2C in the peak season this year. Cat Ts are about $17K .. Maybe that is what you are thinking of.

I'm not sure what date was used to get the 2014 quote near 30k for cat R. It might have been off season. The 17k for 2013 is an offseason quote (October).

I am pretty familiar with cat R pricing and how it has increased in recent years.

For peak times, for family of 5, it is in 30K range (7 night Fantasy) ... about 20K for off peak.

Summer rates for 2014 on Fantasy for T are coming in over 20k for us, we passed. I didn't even ask about cat R this time

May 10, 2014: Cat R: $20,307 Cat T: $10,307
May 24, 2014: Cat R: $24,719 Cat T: $13,169

So, about the same prices we have this year. I just did a check on the 11 May 2013 cruise (the only one that still had Cat T available), Cat T is $10,168. When we sailed on the Fantasy about 2 months ago, the concierge staff told us they sold the last Cat R for 2013 while on the cruise...

I am hoping to book a january 4 or 11 cruise for two adults. I was hoping that by booking opening day I would be saving money and the cruise itself would be more affordable...doesn't seem like these prices are that much of a deal. Have to convince the BF now to spend the extra bucks. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

I haven't seen many price quotes on here for January, and I'm taking that as a good sign. If less people booked those cruises today, it should help hold the price down tomorrow. The fuller ships will probably be higher. We're looking at January 11th simply beacause we want to spend some time in FL before and the 4th is too close to the holidays. But I could go for the 4th if it was significantly cheaper, or February if it's cheaper too. We're going to be 2A 3C (4, 6, 9) and I think we need a category 8 (or we could do 4 and have verandah, but are going to do oceanview and hope for a cheap upgrade at port).

Today's bookings are available either online, by phone or through a travel agent only to Gold and Platinum CC cruisers. Silver level and anyone who has never booked with DCL before can book (same three ways) starting tomorrow.

FYI - not sure if anyone has quoted this but rates are NOT available online to us (P/G)...only by phone. I logged into my account and could not access any 2014 searches. Sorry - saw this was already addressed.

Well, thats why we are cruising a different line in 2013 ... there are other choices.
