For a room only reservation if my daughter is only going to be with us for 4 of the 7 nights, do I pay the add'l adult charge for each of the 7 night or only for the nights she will be staying with us?

When we've had that situation, we were charged only for those nights we actually had an extra adult in the room. So, when my parents visit for two nights of my DD's and my 7 night trip, we pay the extra adult room charge for the two nights. You just explain it to the front desk when you need it and they take care of it then. (We've also gotten some pixie dust a couple of times where they didn't charge us at all. One time it was over Valentine's Day and the CM said it was a Valentine gift to us.)

My daughter is using the magical express so I had to add her to the reservation. I called again and they said that everyone in the room is charged for the entire time.

Congrats on getting some pixie dust!

If she's on the reservation, then yeah, since she's on it for the full number of nights. If you didn't need to add her you could just pay for the nights that she was staying.

You could still ask the FD though and explain the situation.

Thanks, when I check in I will explain and see what happens. Here's hoping for some pixie dust of my own.

She could still have used magical express and not be on the reservation. We had an extra adult join us and we stressed about adding her ahead of time or not. We didn't and when we got downstairs at magical express and explained, they simply printed out another magical express voucher to ride the DME bus. We then added her when we got to the resort and they printed an extra keycard. We only added her for the nights she stayed and she received her departure DME information and rode DME back to the airport

^^ That's what I did too. I actually did it twice (flew in for the beginning of the vacay, had to go home due to a house move, flew back down for the end of the vacay) and both times I just collected my own luggage and explained at the DME desk that I was joining my parents, gave their names, and the printed me a temp voucher

Interesting! I am wondering if y'all have advice for how I should handle my mother in law's arrival.

She's coming the day after my husband and I arrive, but from Europe so she won't have magical express printed tickets. We could save $50 by not registering her for our whole trip (she's only with us 2 nights out of 4), but we need her to have Magical Express.

Would it be too risky to leave it to chance and just hope that they let her on when she tells them my husband is her son and gives them our room number (mind you, this is the Saturday of President's Day wknd, so I'm worried about there being space for her if we don't reserve)?

Since she it's coming in the day after you you can take care of it at check in. That would be your easiest solution.

When you guys get there, tell them that she'll be there, register her for the room then (for the proper days), and then arrange ME for her on the spot.

The problem happens when people are arriving at the same time; you can't delay registration AND get that person on the bus at the same time under normal circumstances.

By not registering your MIL as a guest you would face a few problems.

1. If she isn't a registered guest, she wouldn't have a KTTW card so she couldn't get into the room, couldn't enjoy any park attractions during EMH, couldn't have charging privileges, and at certain resorts, couldn't use the pool.
2. If she isn't a registered guest, she is not eligible for Magic Express, no matter who's son she is.
3. By having an unregistered guest in the room, and not paying the extra adult fee, you are violating Disney policies and would be likely immediately thrown out of the resort if it was found out.

The whole thing is easily solved. When you check in, you add her name to your reservation for the appropriate period of time that she will be there. And pay the extra adult fee. Then have her registered for Magic Express for her arrival and departure days. So easily handled.
