We have never eaten at 50's Prime or Sci-Fi at DHS, so we thought we'd give one of them a shot. Anyone have a favorite for food and/or atmosphere?
Thanks!

I've eaten at both and I enjoyed 50's Primetime more. Although Sci-Fi looks more enjoyable, I enjoyed the food and watching the tv's more at 50's.

Haven't eaten at 50's PT...planning to try it next trip, but we did go to Sci Fi a couple weeks ago. The atmosphere was great...my DSs (aged 11 & 14) thought it was cool at first, but got a little bored when the movie reel started over. I thought it was fun! As for the food, my kids and DH got picnic burgers and shakes...the solar flare was yummy, like a dream sickle. They didn't care for the burgers. I ordered the Reuben sandwich and we shared the fried pickles. The sandwich was good but the pickles were awesome!! The kids ordered desserts and enjoyed them, I don't remember which ones they got. Overall, the experience was good, the food ok. Glad we did it but probably won't go back anytime soon, too many other options to try :)

They are both really cool! My favorite would be 50's though.

Both good, both imaginatively themed, which one's best?

Sci-Fi - We do it for lunch only, a very good bacon burger, good onion rings, fun atmosphere & ambiance!

50's Prime Time - Late dinner only, can't eat all that and ride! Love the pot roast and fried chicken, and the experience is good to fantastic depending on the amount of grief and interaction your group gets from the server. We really enjoy it!

We enjoy both, I can't one more than the other!

We love SciFi. Love the atmosphere, love the burgers, shakes, wings, ribs (which they brought back) and spinach dip too. All very yummy!

We also like 50's atmosphere and the anitcs too. We had a very funny server. The fried chicken was honestly too salty, table next to us said the same. I wish I ordered the potroast instead. I really love the PB&J shake. so yummy!

Both are good choices. I think you should choose based on the theme and menu you like best. We had a good experience at both places. But ultimately SciFi is my fave.

I have to agree with everyone, although Sci-Fi has a cool atmosphere the food is just ok, do lunch. 50's we really liked and the food for dinner was yummy. The interaction was fun and even I was singled out, I hid my veggies in my metal shake container and both me and my 11 year old nephew had to stand with our noses on the wall while the entire place scolded me and told me to eat my veggies and outed my nephew for being a tattletale. It was fun and we had some great laughs, it has quickly become one of our favorites. Oh and the food is yummy too:thumbsup2

I really enjoy both places. :) Sci fi has good burgers & shakes. I liked the fried chicken @ diner so go with what menu you like better :):cool1:

I've eaten at both and prefer 50's PT. Just brings back more memories (real or imagined) than Sci-Fi. I thought that Sci-Fi was just too dark and loud. I understand that that is the point, and for drive-in movie fans, that is a plus. If you are into that, then Sci-Fi is really well done. I just tend to favor the food and design of 50's more.

This is like asking many of us to choose our favorite child ;)

We like to do Sci Fi for apps early afternoon, so we get in and out before the movie reel repeats and it doesn't cost too much. The food here is way overpriced for the quality.

At 50's we like a longer sit down meal, complete with fried chicken and pb&j milkshakes. The waitstaff is much better and more interactive here as well.

So it really depends on what you prefer personally. Atmospherically, it's Sci-Fi, but for food, it's 50's.

We really enjoy both as well.

One detractor for me personally in regards to Sci-fi though is the car tables when we end up all facing the screen and not each other. Makes talking with the family nearly impossible (sometimes a good thing), and can be awkward with trying to help younger diners or not able to sit with my wife.

I agree with those above - both are great.

If you can swing both, I say go for it. Try and get an earlier lunch at Sci-Fi and a late(ish) dinner at 50's. If you are short on dining credits pay out-of-pocket for the Sci-Fi lunch and use the credit for your dinner at 50's. The Sci-Fi won't cost you *too* much more than a counter service lunch and you'll enjoy the break away from the crowds.

We like both so we usually do Sci-Fi for lunch and do burgers and shakes and we'll do 50's PT for dinner.

I would go for Sci-Fi. We've experienced both places, and the quality of the experience at 50's is heavily dependent on how good a server you get and whether they are heavily into their role. Without that, it's no better than your local Denny's. At Sci-Fi, the atmosphere and entertainment are always good.

I agree with Sci-Fi.

The Oreo milkshake was OUTSTANDING!
(Thinking of making it an 'adult' milkshake this time!)
And the onion rings were wonderful!
The spinach dip not so much!
I'm considering making the onion rings and buffalo chicken potato skins with a milkshake my whole meal!
:)

My DH and I really enjoyed Sci-Fi. We even ate their twice on our last trip. Next month, we're trying the Primetime Cafe though as well as doing Sci-Fi again. The atomosphere at Sci-Fi is awesome!

Both have a great atmosphere, but I think that 50's has the better food and has more variety. We eat at 50's everytime we go (lunch), never done dinner
