Resort Board Community :) .... General Resorts discussion, open to all!! :)

And we looked into Lake Tahoe ~ but decided against it b/c we did not want to rent a car to get there from the airport. The airport we'll fly into is in Jackson Hole and the hotel shuttle will get us where we need to go:thumbsup2

We flew into Reno and took a shuttle up to Tahoe, it was the scariest moment of my life!!! Zipping and zooming up into the mountains with all that snow and slick roads, all vehicles are required to have chains on their tires, but even with those it is still treacherous. I was scared to death! Once we finally got to our resort we couldn't even go anywhere... one morning we attempted to walk to breakfast in snow up to our waists! :lmao: But I have to say it was the perfect trip for alone time. We had a nice fireplace and a huge suite. ;)

Does anyone have any opinions on room requests for BWI CL? I asked over on the BWI thread but haven't gotten any replies. Would love some advice! :goodvibes

This thread is right up my alley. I haven't stayed at the same place twice. I've stayed at All Star Sports, Poly, WL, CR, YC, BC, and several off site locations. Next week will be the first time at a moderate resort (POR) and October will be BCV.
I love the Epcot resorts the most so I guess I will have to hit BW someday. :yay:

That's fantastic Erika!!!!! We recently got back...so now we wait until the end of August :rolleyes1

I just changed our resort from GF GV to YC CL...I love the MK area...but with SAB and the fact that the kiddos have never stayed on the Epcot side...it'll be a fresh new trip for us :yay:

Was finally able, after 27 calls to get through by phone. I know this is close. DH and I were there first of October without teens, this is sort of a way to make it up to them and i could pass up the discount for AKL!

Actually considering CS only for this upcoming trip. Holidays = large crowds, last minute reservation means poor ADR availability, plus we will have three teenaged girls with us. Jeff actually said we may even venture off property if nothing looks appealing!

That's why I decided to do YC...I am a true GF lover, but it's not all about me . DH and I did CL at WL in August..and I took the girls last month. But Summer will be a full week in WDW, we haven't done that since 2009 :cheer2:

We are a CS family..mostly since our kiddos are young. I prefer it ...JMHO...can't wait to hear about your trip :thumbsup2

Well DVC has a special this month... buy a Premium AP for just $400... How can I not do that!!! So that means I have to make the most of my pass, so... I just booked 2 trips over the weekend...

Going February 21-24 staying at SSR... this is to see the Yankees vs Braves at ESPN Wide World of Sports! So excited... it's a solo trip  dun dun duntttt! I've never stayed at SSR, but it was the only place I could get using my DVC points. I wait listed BC so we'll see if that comes through.

Then I booked 10/31-11/4 AKL CL just because... also a solo trip. My daughter used to do all trips with me, but she's getting married and has a job now that doesn't allow her to go with me, so solo it is :thumbsup2 After I booked this trip my husband (who has NEVER been to Disney) comes out and says I'm on vacation for 3 weeks in September... thanks for telling me that!! So I said no problem I'll book a few days to introduce you to Disney as soon as you tell me what weeks!! So there will be another trip booked for September as well.

I've booked my DD and FSIL honeymoon too!! Lots of surprises for them!!!

Just found this thread and I like it... so I'm now subscribed to it!!

Hope all that are leaving soon and all that are there now have a great trip!!

I LOVE your logic/justification, it definitely works for me!

I also love this thread, so glad that Erika started it! It's nice to talk about things without being criticized and reprimanded!

So many trips to look forward to ~ I'm jealous!!

We are definitely not ready for Christmas around here. Hard to do when it's still 70* outside. I am so behind on decorating and shopping.

No Disney trip in the near future...I'm just looking forward to January so I can at least say "I'm going to Disney next year!"

We will probably go around the end of May (2014) and I hope to go again sometime during the holidays in 2015. Seeing all the recent pics of Disney decorated for Christmas has me itching to go back during that time of year again. It's a long way off, but maybe some of you can help. IF we go during the holidays, it will have to coincide with school breaks ~ by then I'll have 2 in school and there is a good chance I'll be back to work teaching by then also. So, what would be best as far as crowds ~ Thanksgiving week or the week after Christmas? I know both will be extremely crowded ~ will it even make a difference?

Auprincess, we're over here in Columbus, I walked outside and the thermometer on my deck read 76 degrees! Part of the reason for this hurry up trip is we have a senior and a sophomore. Our senior turns 18 in June, the my be her last trip where we won't have to pay a surcharge to have her in our room. This is a test having two rooms, couldn't beat <$200 a night per room for AKL!

I'm in Opelika ~ not too far! That is a great rate for AKL! I love going to Disney in January ~ never know about the weather, but the crowds are nice and low! Maybe I missed it, and I guess I could count it out myself, but what are your dates?

So if I counted correctly, rcraw45425, you are arriving New Years day? We came in on January 1 for our 2011 trip; had a blast! More crowded than we were used to in later January, but still very do-able and we got to see all the Christmas decorations (and MK Christmas parade, AK Christmas parade, Osborne lights, castle lit up ~ it was great)!

Yep, New Years. Our daughters do marching band, this year it's Outback Bowl. Oldest decided not to go, two years ago we did Champs Bowl in Orlando when we had the Christmas snow. We absolutely froze. The band stayed at Crowne Plaza, I booked Jeff Amy and I at Royal Pacific since this was a US/IOA trip. Amy was in 8th grade so she didn't get to march. This year it's Tampa and the game is NYD. Disney wanted way too much for 1/1 but I got two rooms at Dolphin for under $200 each with AAA. The discount starts on 1/2 so we will move then. Kelly decided not to go and we applied the money for her trip toward, taking her BFF with us. Truthfully I think she'd rather be here for NYE with the friend than in Tampa so it works. The friend has no clue yet although her mom knows our plans. Jeff just started a different ER so until we know for sure that he has the days off and that his old hospital is, in fact, going to pay us, we are keeping it room only. I think I'll get tickets through AAA so I can add on the night on NYD if it looks like we will get there i time to do anything. If not, I'll just give them their tickets on Wed morning and let them head on out to a park while we move to AKL. the more I think about it the more I think CS is the way to go since we usually wind up with too much food!

That is a great rate!!! We need 2 rooms as well, and a big reason why I switched to YC from GF...same price but at YC I'm getting CL :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone! :) My DH just returned from NYC late last night so I'm taking off my Super Single Mom cape for two whole days and letting him handle the boys!!! ;) It seems when I lose my free time Disney obsessing is the first thing to suffer. But I've still managed to do a couple of things for the trip. Leaving 30 days from today! :thumbsup2 I can't wait!!!! I know it probably seems silly, since we go all the time, but it's my happy place. :cloud9: The kids still have no idea we are taking them with us. I've really been rubbing it in the last few days and they are just about ready to hate me. :lmao: But I can't help myself, I want them to be surprised when they find out they are coming too. :) The only problem now is that if I'm going to ask their teachers for homework before winter break (they get out of school 12/21 and will miss the first week back in January) then it will ruin the surprise. So I'm still trying to figure out that part.

OH MAN I wish I could take advantage of that discount! My AP renewal date is 12/29 and I dread forking out the big bucks. :sad2: But I know it will be worth it in the end. We finally wised up and spaced out our AP renewals so that none of us are on the same date. The kids renew in March and DH renews in June so that helps spread out the cost. I'm sure you will like SSR. It is a nice resort. We've only stayed there once, we were back in the Congress Park section overlooking DTD. The only negative thing I remember is that the buses seemed sparse.

AKL CL sounds like the perfect solo trip! :thumbsup2 I think you're going to have an amazing time! I have taken some "sort of" solo trips before, when DH is there but doing other things separate from me, and I've always loved spending time at WDW alone. :cloud9:

How awesome you get to help plan the honeymoon!!! That is my dream!!!!! :goodvibes I just hope I have very understanding daughter in laws. ;) LOL

We've arrived on 1/1 several years and always loved it! Last year was awesome because we checked in to the GF and the gingerbread house was still up. :) Then we headed over to MK and got to see the Castle Dream Lights. :cloud9: Really there were tons of Christmas decorations that whole week because it seems they really don't completely end Christmas until the Osborne lights go down. We arrive on January 6th this time, it's the last day of the Osborne so we are excited for that!
