December 2012 Car Rentals

Just booked an intermediate with Budget through Costco for $122.35 out the door! Much better than the $170 rate I had with Enterprise before that. :cool1:

I got the same, my dates are 8th to 15th

Nice to see everyone getting some good deals today!

I am still looking - we want 12/25 - 01/06 at MCO but we will take a local pickup/drop off if its less.

Right now we are booked 12/25 with an MCO pick up dropoff 1/01 at Doubletree through Alamo. We are at $267 (minus $25 at return)

I'd love to be under $300 with a 1/06 return at MCO or 1/05 in the Lake Buena Vista area...
Are you a member of Costco? You can get a car for 1 night from MCO and then pick up a car at the Budget Worldgate Resort on 12/26 and return to MCO with the Costco code and $40 coupon it comes out to $256 for 12/26-1/6 for a prepaid compact.

The biggest advantage of National/Alamo IMO is being able to select your own car. I admit that it takes me an embarrassingly long time to pick my car :lmao:off of the aisle. My husband and I are both National Executive Elite (his earned, mine by signing up on a link I found years ago) so we book a midsize and can select anything from the midsize, fullzise or elite aisle.

The free upgrades are nice and worth a few $$ per day for me, but I am all about the bottom line. I remember being sooo nervous a few years ago about booking with Thrifty. I got an awesome rate of $79 for Christmas week and they upgraded us to a Taurus :thumbsup2. I have rented from Dollar and Thrifty many times since. The cars that I have been assigned by Dollar (and Thrifty) have been current, roomy and clean. IMO, there is really little difference between a Nissan Versa offered by Alamo/National and a Ford Focus offered by Dollar. It's a car that will get from from point A to point B. As long as my family and my bags all fit to/from the airport I'm good to go!
Dollar worked out just fine. Not quite as easy as National /Alamo, but not overly complicated either. They had me assigned to a Nissan, I asked them to give me a Taurus. They said, sure. And $60 less than National, $164 total for 8 days.

Have a great time! Our APs expire on 12-29 so we are seeing my in-laws after Disney and spending NYE in Tampa. I heard the pier in St Pete has a nice show. I'll miss Disney but well have fun the week before
Well, that sounds good too. Enjoy. And thanks for your good wishes also.

Looks like there isn't much out there for deals on Christmas week.

I was able to lock in about a month ago for $400 with taxes for Dec. 22-Jan. 1.

What size of vehicle are you looking for?

Our dates are December 23rd - December 30th, so we feel your pain. We have a standard SUV through Budget (using travelocity public code X474200) for $302 taxes included less a $25 coupon MUWZ023 for a final total upon return of about $277. I am beginning to think this will be as good as it gets.

Is this a good deal?

Last minute rates aren't out yet...arriving late 12/13. Changed my dates to pick up on 12/14 8am (staying at a nearby hotel) and drop off 12/18 8am. Thrifty with no codes or coupons $117 including taxes for the Wild Car. I've never rented for a weekend, so not sure if this was a good rate or not...thanks for any information/advice!

I put in your dates and times and through Costco with Enterprise you can get a midsize for $113, standard $121 or fullsize $125 inc taxes. This also includes the free additional driver. Thrifty charges $10/day extra.

Thank you for your help! Its only me, so no extra driver, and sadly, no Costco membership either...

did you use a coupon code ?? thry AD2338FDF (visa code) or AFA4623ANZ (free day)

NEVER MIND, we don't have the same dates :(

Hey,

I used your Visa coupon code and it lowered my rate to $139!! Thanks so much for the info! That made a big difference!!!

Thanks a million!!

J

I just got $174.88 for a compact from 12/8-12/12 through Alamo. A little more then I had at Enterprise but I love Alamo so I don't mind paying a bit more.
Jay

Through Costco you can get a compact for $104 inc taxes with Enterprise.

Yes, but your savings pays for half the fee for the card :thumbsup2. I was a Costco skeptic but got my first card a year ago and I am now a convert :woohoo:.

I just went on the Costco site and they had an Economy car from Avis for $111.00 total. I may have to get a card!!

Thanks
J

I have logged into Costco - do you use a code as well? Lowest price showing is $332... would love more information!

Thanks!

Pick up on 12/20 - drop off 12/25

I have a feeling something was up today. I checked the flight this morning - and from the time I decided to make the trip tickets went up $50 each. Then, I looked at Expedia today - came home to make the final decision and the same package I looked at went up $170! Yikes! This cheap trip has moved to expensive!

Thanks for any help - I am a Costco member, just not sure where to find, or where to insert any codes.

:)

Here's what I would do, but it's a PITB. I would take a cab to a local Budget location and book a car from there. Go to the Costco booking engine and enter zip code "32807". Select the 6363 E Colonial Drive location for your pickup and MCO as your drop off. It's about 10 miles from MCO. You'll get a rate of $125 all taxes, etc for a mid-size. You'll have to pay a $30-$40 cab fare to get there, but you're still looking at $165 all-in. Make sure that the local location is open when you arrive!
