Still able to access TOTW if not staying at BLT?

I remember over the summer that DVC'ers who weren't staying at BLT were allowed to go to the TOTW lounge. Does anyone know if that still is in effect? If it is, do you have to be staying at a DVC resort on points, or can you go there as long as you're staying at a WDW resort hotel and a DVC member?

It is in effect until 12/29. There has been no word on whether or not it will be extended past that date.

I sure hope it is extended. I'm hoping to meet with others on the Members Cruise on January 10th, and it seems like the perfect place to meet!:goodvibes

I suspect it will be made permanent. TOTW just does not get enough traffic from BLT owners/guests to keep it profitable. It is such a small space. Not a smart design. The original top of the world was huge and had popular bands playing, even a couple members of the Rat Pack played there when WDW was a couple years old... It was a real night club.

But perhaps wasn't as profitable as it being changed into a restaurant called, California Grill. http://micechat.com/blogs/imaginerding/3427-top-world-contemporary-resort.html

I think true night clubs are part of Disney World's past, everything is family oriented instead.

you must be staying on points in a DVC resort and be a DVC member to go TOWL.

plus you can't park there - you need to drive to TTC and take the monorail or take the MK bus and walk over.

When we went about 2 weeks ago, we just showed our DVC card. We were staying on points but they didn't ask to see our room card. We really enjoyed our evening spent up there.

What if you're a DVC member staying at a resort thorugh the Disney Collection?

You just have to be a DVC member staying in any Disney owned resort, cash or points. To be safe have a room key and your DVC member card. And yes, parking there is frowned apon...

We were staying at VWL this past week. When we visited TOWL, they asked for my DVC card and my hotel room key.

Thanks! Parking not an issue as we are over at the Poly!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I can remember my parents brought the family to Top of the World back then. It was the last WDW trip for the family before my father passed away.

I remember sitting in one of those large booths and watching the show. Afterwards, we went out to the viewing area and watched the fireworks.

We did not show anything just asked how to get there and cm walked us to the elevator. We had both room key and member id but no one asked for it.

Parking is not an issue, you can use the Cont. parking. All properties allow up to 3 hours, it lets people explore but not abuse the parking.:cool1:

If there is a convention at the Contemporary, or a Christmas party at the MK, you will be turned away. And DVC specifically asked that you NOT park at BLT.

As an almost new DVC member, you haven't gotten the word from DCV yet about not parking at the CR or BLT to visit TOTWL. Parking is a problem at CR and BLT.

tonight. They had a good crowd there.

Rrrrrrr. Darn iTouch. I can't seem to edit this post and it came out screwy. Anyway, what I was trying to say is that I arrived today and am staying at the Contemporary. I had no problem checking in and going to the TOTW. Very nice place!

Just remember folks the service is lousy at best up there. When we went there in November it was just one bartender and one wait staff person for the entire floor. You will wait a long time to get a drink and relax.
