September/October 2013 check in

ooh, boardwalk. very nice :thumbsup2

that would be my first choice, i think, then beach club, then BLT. so many good hotels, too little $$ :)

i think i will have to wait as it will take a while for the others coming on the trip to get their money to me...

karen, you've flown delta before for the lax-mco leg as i recall... were they good? any issues? they are at the top of my list for domestic us carriers at the moment... mostly due to the above velocity points/same terminal reasons... paying extra for luggage though is a bit i'm going to have to get used to :)

The prices i am quoting are in aud for international and usd for us domestic.

We usually fly southwest for the cheap fares but decided to go delta this time around as a. I can earn velocity points with them, b. They depart from the same termunal at lax that vaustralia fly into (less hassle for connecting flights) and c. They have direct flights at the times i need them to work in with the rest of our itinerary. too bad their prices are approx 480 pp return for the lax - mco - lax leg of our trip. As long as they dont screw around with flight times and delays, i will be perfectly happy :)

Enjoy your hp movie watching :)

Delta look good and I did consider them for a while. I like that Delta (just like AA) have many flights per day. That way I figure if worse case scenario one flight is cancelled or I can't get on it for some reason, there will be another one an hour or two later to get on instead.

I think that at the end of the day, price, time and convenience win out over how flash the planes are - hence our reason for booking AA. But 5 hours with no seat back entertainment will be pretty stink.

I do like delta, and this coming trip we will be travelling economy comfort syd-lax..thus saving the 4k from PE ANZ kissy kissy.....:sad2:

we also will be connecting lax-mco 10am 5 hour non stop flight...splurging for first class...see if you can get the economy comfort seats, they are about $40 extra per leg per person, but for an extra 6 inch leg room, priority boarding its worth the $$$$

I have fond memories of the United website, when they had a proper Australian website, and they had a special of $940AU return to ANYWHERE in US, with an additional $30 for a stop over, admittedly I seem to remember that being available in August and I did a very very short notice early Nov holiday that year :) (booked air tickets 5 weeks beforehand), it was all very last minute, very unplanned, very enjoyable :) my share of the accom for the 17 days came to about $500, food was cheap, so it was a very cheap trip :) - the wonders of timeshares!!!!! Stayed Marriott all the way, very swish :) Much much much cheaper than going on holiday in Australia.

My dh has a friend ... Cost him $3000 just for a week in the Gold Coast for family of 4 ......crazy prices

We have had a date change, thanks to DD's dance schedule.

Now leaving around Sep 16, changed the cruise to Eastern departing Sep 22 (I think we are still with you Karen), then WDW (POR) Sep 29 to approx Oct 10. I am a bot concerned about airfares travelling so close to the school holidays, and also about free dining as the past couple of years I think Sep 29 was the last date.

Our dates at WDW overlap. Maybe you could come and join some of the DisMeets with the DisGamers.

Hi Jade,

Our dates are near identical. We will be at WDW from the 28th - 9th. I'm also hoping I'll fit into the free dining period. Assuming of course it will be offered. The feeling amongst a lot of Dis members is that it will be replaced with the Play, Stay, Dine and Save Promotion that is being offered at present. Apparently it's the first time in years free dining hasn't been offered at this time for January.
Will annoy me if that's the case, given that UK and European residents can get free dining for the whole year.

school hols start 21st, so you may just get lucky re fares....

so chatting re flights for next year...i had chatted to dh re cost and flying delta economy and he aggreed...now he says no way..its ANZ or nothing...so thats another 4K i need to find if i want to go on hols......or maybe he can go anz and I'll go delta...$1200 for me $3200 for him......would saving $2000 be worth the stress????

i am so confused now..........:confused3

Maybe ANZ will have super-dooper, ridiculous special and you can get ANZ PE for $1200pp? Ahhh, wouldn't that be nice?

yeah, are you sure your dh won't take a little codral, a little valium and a big drink of bourbon to help him sleep through economy? virgin does have slightly roomier seats (18.5 inches wide) in economy, vs the standard 17 inches on other carriers :)

After so many years together, I'm sure you are entitled to strangle him whenevere you need to.

How's everyone doing today?! My morning has not gone off with a bang and started with me grabbing the change tin at work to find that the person before me hadn't locked it. It was raining money, quite literally. Still saving, saving, saving and counting down the days until we book in February :D Alicia has decided to start studying next year, but has assured me she will still be able to afford to come to Disneyland. I'm going to hold her to this as I know how much she really want's to go....and her persistant Disney obsessed friend will be sending her waves of motivation along the way :D

I've been thking more about some special things I can plan for our trip, and have decided to order us gift baskets to be waiting for us in our room when we arrive! Does anyone know if you can still customise these? Or can you now only buy the pre planned ones that are on the website? I'm also looking at ordering us a cake! From what I have heard these can arrive in your room from 4-6pm. Which works in PERFECTLY with my plan to return to the hotel for dessert after our reservations at the Rainforest cafe for dinner. I'm really enjoying planning these special little things that will make our trip all the more special, especially for Alicia :)

Alicia really wants to go for 18 days, so at the moment our travel dates are looking something like 28.10.13-15.11.13. We are now trying to hit two birds with one stone and get Halloween and Christmas in the one trip. I'm not too sure what the predicted dates for Christmas are next year, or what the plan is for having a christmas party to see all of the seasonal entertainment. But if we were able to catch the Christmas parade, and the characters in their cosumes that would be icing on the cake!!

We are thinking of travelling to Six Flags for the day, but are debating how to get there. We have decided that neither of us want's to drive, so are getting around by bus tours and taxi's. Has anyone used a tour company to get to Six Flags from Anaheim before? I am also interested in looking into "personal drivers" (that's the only thing I can think to call them at the moment, haha!) That will pick you up and drop you at your destination and then pick you up again and take you home...does this even exist???

Hope everyone's having fun planning their trips. :)

hey..just a quick word re 6 flags.....they say that at sometimes of the year that there is gang activity and security isnt too crash hot...so just be aware that it isnt "disney"....

Everytime you mentioned alicia i thought you were preparing the most awesome surprise for me

I think doing halloween + xmas is a great idea and cake is a lovely idea. I have seen pics. The cakes are a regular large round cake size that a family of 4 would eat over several days... Just make sure you are prepared to eat cake for the better part of a week :)

Kiwimousegirl, we had a driver last year who took us on a day trip to all of the touristy places around LA etc, and some not so touristy as well. He was brilliant. He also does transfers, and will take you to/from just about anywhere. Not sure what he would charge, but let me know if you want his contact info.
