Which would you choose? It will be me and my ds (12)

Thanks!!

Out of the Epcot resorts, we have only stayed at the BC, but BWI is on our list to try. With that said, if it were me, I'd go with the BC with a 12 year old. Good luck.

You can't go wrong with either, both are great.
We are DVC owners and Beach Club Villas are our home resort. We love the BC especially the proxmiity to Epcot and Storm Along Bay is by far the best pool on property. I also like the themeing at the Beach Club better than at the Boardwalk. The Marketplace is also very convenient at the Beach Club
A few years ago we stayed at the Boardwalk and although the walk to Epcot is a bit longer, the walk to the Hollywood Studios is great. We loved the ability to walk to 2 parks. The Boardwalk activity in the evening is also fun.
For us, we choose the BC, but either would be a good choice.

With a 12 year old, I think Beach Club could be a lot of fun, unless you won't be doing any swimming. If you take SAB out of the equation, it would really be a tossup. For me, I really enjoyed the theme of the Boardwalk, and I found it to be a quiet resort despite all the boardwalk activities. It all depends on the theme you like better.

One other thing- I thought there were a LOT of kids at BC. If your son is the social type that likes merting other kids, go with Beach Club. Yes, there will be kids everywhere at Disney, but there really did seem to be more than the average at BC.

Beach Club has the nicer pool

love both i love boardwalk more b/c it seemed cleaner. fresh paint etc but stormalong at yc/bc is like no other! My kids love Stormalong and we normally stay there for the pool, but just stayed at bwi because it was too cold for the pool and i loved it.

I think the Boardwalk is a better value. Plus, it is more in the middle of the two parks as opposed to being closer to Epcot. It also has the Hess express station .25 mi away which makes quick grocery runs an ease.

We were toying with the same choices too but we decided on BC. The clown pool keeps freaking me out. I think a 12 yr old would like the slide at the BC better. And you could always walk over and spend time at BW

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds that clown pool creepy! My husband and I were looking at the resort photos to decide where to stay next August. As soon as we saw that pool, Boardwalk was out. :scared:

We've stayed at the BC at least 10 times and the BWI once. The only thing I liked about the BWI was that it had a much better choice of nearby restaurants than the BC. The negative was that the layout of the BW is weird, with long corridors and inconvenient access to the Boardwalk. We were on a ground floor room behind the Flying Fish restaurant, and although the garden view was nice, we had to go up a floor, down a few halls, and down a floor to get out of the resort. A nice thing about BWI is that it can be a very short walk to HS, depending on room location.

The BC wins, though, for the great pool and easy access to Epcot.

I think access to parks and restaurants are equal so that wouldn't factor into my decision--walks are easy from both resorts.

As an adult, I much prefer BWI. I even prefer the clown pool as it's not as noisy or chaotic as SAB. As a 12 year old, I'd want SAB if there was going to be any pool time.

For the resort itself, I think BWI has nicer rooms. I've only stayed club level at both of these resorts so that plays into my decision. I hate that BC has so many rooms without full balconies. The balcony is important to me.

I agree with this. We stayed BWI with our children a few years ago. Although we loved BWI, I thought it would have been better for an adult trip. For an Epcot area resort, I know my children would have liked YC/BC better (for SAB, of course!):goodvibes

Beach Club...always Beach Club!

-Storm Along Bay
-Beaches and Cream
-arcade right next to the pool
-location (some of the rooms at BWI are SO far from the main building/Epcot that they are practically at the Studios
-the Magic Kingdom bus for BWI shares with S & D. BC only shares with YC.

I think BWI is a great resort too, and you can't really go wrong with either one. My personal preference is just BC :) Have a great trip!

Having stayed at both multiple times, I would pick BC over BWI ... but that is just my personal preference.

I've stayed at both. For myself, I prefer the BWI. I have, however, already been able to stay at the Yacht Club once and BCV multiple times, which means that I've been to SAB a lot of times, so it doesn't play into my decision as much.

The reasons I like the BWI more:

1. Themeing. The New England coastal theme is nice at Beach Club. OTOH, the decor, the entertainment on the BW and sometimes in the lobby, and the big band music playing softly around the public areas of the BWI/BWV make me feel like I've been transported to a different time and place. I just feel like I'm in a really nice hotel at YC/BC.

2. The restaurants. We really enjoy the Big River Grill. I also like the variation of restaurants on the Boardwalk. The only restaurant we really like at YC/BC is Beaches and Cream.

3. The gift shops. The gift shop on the BW is a lot nicer to me than the gift shops at YC/BC, and there is also a smaller gift shop in the lobby for convenience.

4. Location. It's closer to Swan/Dolphin and is a more reasonable walking distance to DHS. The boat dock is also more convenient. The BW boat dock is much shorter, so it's easier to catch a boat if you walk up at the last minute.

5. The rooms. Full balcony.

All that said, as a 12 year old I would probably have preferred the BC. I was, actually, given the choice as a 14 year old to stay at whatever Disney resort I wanted to for a couple of days. I chose the Yacht Club. Mostly because of the pool. At that point, the only Disney resort I had stayed at was OKW. I had visited almost all of them though.

I second this!

Book at Beach Club. You won't regret it!

That is our same dilemma. We love them both. BC is definitely better with younger kids. My teens loved the BW activity. We had a boardwalk view with a deck and we would sit and watch them shop on the boardwalk. Each night there is a lot of activity on the boardwalk like magicians. Though we love the BC pool, and lobby plus the kids love the arcade. The both hotels are very close to each other so when we would be staying at one the kids could easily walk to the other. You will have a great time no matter where you stay.

since I am lazy - pick this way - what park are you going to spend the most time at - Epcot then BCV
Hollywood Studios then BWV

know love BCV - the walk to Epcot is much easier (go under the bridge not over it) - but it is a very long walk to studios - and it does not have its own boat dock - so if you are planning on taking the boat to Studios - you would need to walk over to YC marina. that say walking to Epcot and taking that boat is probably a little closer.

BWV is great - stayed here alot - not because I love it - but with DVC points you can get a standard view and that makes it much cheaper than BCV. more visits win for me everything.

to me their themes are very similar they are both fashioned after Atlantic beach hotels.
