We ave a seriously fussy eater who would be happy living on garlic bread and jam (Jelly) sandwiches. If we were to go to a buffet maybe character meal would we still need to pay for him even though he would probably only eat from my plate and like I said bread and maybe a coulple of fries at best. He will be 3 in January and we travel March.

(won't touch mac n cheese, pizza, chicken nuggets you know the usual kids meals at Disney)

Thanks.

1) Yes, you must pay at buffets or all-you-can-eat places.
2) Not Disney's fault for eating habits.
3) They have no way to monitor if the kid at anything, or how much
4) Everyone over 2-yrs must pay, regardless how much they eat.

My understand is that kids under three do not pay for food is they share their parents plate but I'm sure others will come along with a better answer.

Under 3. If he's 3 at travel time, you will still have to pay for him at buffets. If it's a sit down meal, you wouldn't have to if he was eating from your plate.

This is the way I understand it, as well. We have 2 semi-fussy eaters, but surprisingly they always seem to find something at the buffet, when they get to choose; although it does make some interesting food combinations. :rotfl2: good luck.

At any buffet or character meal, yes, you will have to pay for him unless he is under 3 years old.

He will turn 3 before your trip, so you should plan to pay for him.

Disney is a stickler regarding what/when they charge for their buffets and character dining. Age determines the price, not what or how much a person/child eats.

Give him his own plate, let him look and pick for himself, he may surprise you!

I feel your pain! I also had (still do ;)) a fussy eater. Unfortunately, since he'll be 3 you will have to pay for his buffets and character meals. Maybe this will encourage him to branch out a bit. When my DD was that age we brought along peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for her in Tupperware sandwich containers like these:

I'm sure you can find something similar near you. We usually fed her PB&Js at Counter Service restaurants, but we also fed them to her at the occasional Table Service restaurant too (we bought her a drink and tipped well).

Or just say he/she is 2

We'll just skip the usual ethical/moral/legal issues :sad2:

Better yet, let him celebrate the fantastic mile stone of being three years old! And that now he's old enough to walk the buffet line with his parents, picking out anything he's willing to try! :yay: :cheer2: :yay:

He can tell the waitress he's :dance3: this many!

Mine's 16 now, it goes by so fast!

If you don't want to pay for him, don't do the buffets.

People who have had Gastric Bypass and barely eat, or have actual ailments causing them to eat very little or not at all still pay. It's paying for the experience, not just the buffet.

Thanks all. Tried the wow aren't you a big kid now choose what to have at supermarket but when home even if he helps cook it still leads to stubbornness.

Trying to weigh up the value of Backyard BBQ given the entertainment looking great fun versus cost I'm veggie (yes my meat eating anything husband loves dining with me and boy). So a veggie and fusspot boy may not get much value in all you can eat. Could do few bucks worth of ice cream tho ha ha ha

I would recommend either skipping the character meal all together, or booking a character breakfast. I'm sure toast and jam would be available, so at least he would eat something. Usually breakfast is a little cheaper, too.

This isn't the first time that the suggestion to circumvent Disney's age rules has been suggested. The other thread was closed, but I guess this poster still doesn't know the DIS guidelines.

I'm sorry you have a problem with your ethics and morals, I'm fine with mine.

You should probably not be on the boards if you're going to break the rules and be "fine" with it. Just saying.
