So what is up with Disney no longer sailing out of Galveston in 2014, just saw the announcement?

Anyone have some insight?

Don't give up hope yet. The full year isn't out yet for the smaller ships.

Since they are sailing the end of 2013 from Texas it was assumed they would keep the Wonder here through Spring. Very disappointing it is going back to Miami to do 4 night cruises.

It's not suprising - Galveston isn't selling! Disney won't go back if they have to do KSF and other promos to get people on the ships!

Disney has even mentioned on their blog that what people really wanted was Castaway Cay (stating that there were even more opportunities to visit CC with all four ships porting in Florida.)

It is the Magic that is in Texas; Wonder is heading to Miami in December. Magic is then going to Europe for the summer and won't be back until Fall.

It looks like Magic will then go to Port Canaveral for Spring 2014. Wonder is supposed to go back to California and then on to Alaska for 2013, and then back to Miami in the fall of 2013.

I think they are having difficulty hitting the numbers they wanted for Galveston, I saw a kids sail free deal on the site this morning. The main advantage for me is a shorter flight from Seattle, but I'll admit to booking on Fantasy to get the newer ship over the shorter flight. I suspect the thought was to get more folk from the central part of the US that could get there for less cost, but that might not be materializing fast enough for them.

The Magic is in Texas now. The Wonder will be here fall 2013 and the Magic will be in Miami fall 2013.

What many have talked about is they were hoping those who could not get to Florida would head to Galveston. But the problem is Disney is priced so much higher than the other lines here that do more or less the same routes. And with Disney Castaway Cay is such a big draw and many of the itineraries from Texas don't go to CC. In fact they changed a whole bunch to go to CC. There are not enough people who will cruise Disney just to cruise Disney to fill the ships. 3 and 4 nights out of PC will fill the ships when people combine with WDW.

Really hoping they add the cruise that stopped at WDW, and Castaway Cay from galveston. We couldn't do it this spring we just got back from WDW but we really wanted to go on this cruise.

I am Appalled that DCL is leaving Galveston!!! Has anyone checked the prices of Airfare lately? The flights from Houston to Florida are ridiculous... They could have at least stayed through the first part of 2014!

I finally talked my parents into coming with us since they cruise out of Galveston now. My Parents really can't afford to fly to florida, would save them about $900 if they don't have to fly. Also, my father had a stroke a few years back so flying is a bit of an ordeal for him. Guess I will just keep watching! We really aren't planning another trip until fall 2014/spring 2015 so maybe there's still hope. :confused3

With all four ships sailing out of Florida, this family will be shopping for another cruise line  Just too hard to get there for us. Ah well, at least we got one cruise in....

What good are the dates from Galveston if no one is sailing? I love Disney and wished I could have caught one from Galveston, but during the school year isn't an optimal time and the few times we could have, it was cheaper to cruise The Fantasy from PC.

Even next years 4 night Cmas from Galveston sailing is almost as much as the 7 night Cmas week cruise this year on the Fantasy.

I've caught one and have two more out of Galveston planned. And we wanted one in January 2014.
Any word on the actual date that the Wonder leaves?

Everyone keeps saying during the school year is not a good time. How did DCL fill ships out of other ports during the school year? The causes for the low sales out of Galveston are not rooted in the school calender.

The airfare is a lot for us to fly into IAH or HOU. We are in MN and its way cheaper for us to drive than fly. With 2 kids, we are definitely going to need the 8 night cruise after driving 19 hours in the car with the kids! :)
Its definitely cheaper for us to fly to MCO.

Not a good time for me. I don't pull my kids from school :)
